My late father grew up in the Jazz Age, and was a fan of Dixieland Jazz all his life. I grew up listening to his Jazz recordings, and inherited his collection. Whenever I hear Dixieland Jazz, I think of him. The Tin Roof Blues was one of his favorite tunes -- he told me it was one that he really had to search for, be it in the repertoire of a band when he was young, or a recording in later life. I believe he would have very much liked Tuba Skinny's version -- and if departed, unseen fans come to listen to these young musicians, I would not be surprised if my Dad was among them.
I love the way B.Jones plays - never anything "fancy" - but always the right notes - so well "placed" - and with a great , not overly "brassy" tone. What musicians refer to as "tasty" .
Had to leave town in 1970 $$ called me to California. But me "Missing New Orleans " is a real understatement when I hear you guys blowing MY music, never stop. I almost cry when I listen to you.
Fabulous as always. The more I hear the great TS the more I hear; if you see what I mean. This time it's just what a huge contribution Barnabus Jones makes with that trombone. Simple phrasing yet massively contributory, an absolute joy.
i remember Dave and Roselyn Lionheart, down there, and Butch Mudbone from Memphis.Got a chance to jam with all three in Jackson Square one night in 1995.Miss it very much,*sigh*
NEVER GET THIS GREAT MUSIC IN THE SO CALLED GREAT BRITAIN/ BUT THEN JUST LOOK AT THE STATE OF THAT 2 BIT COUNTRY..tHIS GREAT MUSIC HAS TO COME FROM THE STATES!!! KEEP IT UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!
Still trying to find a washboard somewhere. I've got my guys at junk stores keeping an eye open for me. Pawn shops not so much, but maybe. Second hand stores, garage sales, used items at Habitat for Humanity ? There just has to be one moldering around somewhere. Maybe I should put up a wanted ad on craigslist. Cans, cowbells and a small cymbal I could maybe find as well. Next will come that 8 string banjolin or octave banjolin I've been dreaming of building. I've got rhythm -- who could ask for anything more.....
I am sinning again with envy of you and your friends to be able to play anything in tune and in rhythm and we will not discuss my non singing abilities.
Re the,'Drop the baseball caps, jeans and silly shorts',comment. The way I see it,it's what's under the baseball caps, jeans and shorts that matters which in this instance is pure talent. If you've got it you can dress how the hell you like. This is a jazz band, not a fashion parade.
Ah! Now I see it! I totally missed it before, while jumping around to tuba skinny tubes. They are not properly dressed. How quaint! What is the matter with youth today?
I love Tuba Skinny, they are all excellent musicians with a great respect for the genre they are interpreting! But after the third video flip or whatever you want to call the effect used here, I'd had enough! The music is what matters and not some irritating video effect that gets the videographer off!
Oh but they can...and do...and brilliantly too...it's not the clothes that dictates the way music is played is it?..one has only to close ones eyes and listen..

You deserve every cent in that bucket of money. Superb music, No frills, no fancy gimmicks, just clean pure jazz. Love it.
This and the original are part of my personal “Day Drinkin’ Music” playlist. It all makes life that much more better livin.
New Orleans doesn't forget it's history. Young people playing traditional music in the street. Only one of the many reasons I love the city.

Caught the little kids & an adult talking at the beginning. Very moving, & their a love of jazz begins...
Had to leave town in 1970 $$ called me to California. But me "Missing New Orleans " is a real understatement when I hear you guys blowing MY music, never stop. I almost cry when I listen to you.
exquisite horn interplay
Absolute authentic new orleans jazz from twenties

Nice work up of a jass staple as I would expect from such a superb band.

Tin roof blues.. Super
What a joy.I keep wondering if Dixieland was dead
I am an old time dixie fan. Very Nice!
There’s some great trombone work in here by Barnabus Jones, It’s as if Big Jim Robinson had showed up to sit with Tuba Skinny,
.
Llllllllllllĺ
Ik
I want to play in this band, or one very like it, had a really good jam today with my Sunday Jam friends, but this stuff is what we dream of.
I am sinning again with envy of you and your friends to be able to play anything in tune and in rhythm and we will not discuss my non singing abilities.
How can 7 people dislike this?!? thank you so much for the upload.
They are rappers. They have no idea what real music is.
Why pay attention to dislikes, who cares,I don’t.
Very nice ! Blues is blues ! Best greetings !
I love this Laurel & Hardy Style
Tops ..Love it
Fantastic!
Sublime......
I am loving this.
Great day for biz. for TS...& how they deserve it. Love their 'stuff'. Nawlins rules.

👍
Nice.
A busy day for me, but still had to make time for Shaye and TS fix
Thanks
Early April in New Orleans it's already pushing 90 degrees outside. You dress for comfort when you're playing in the street.

Bello e bravi.
Ciao e stammi bene.
Sweet as honey.

We're 5 yrs down the road, do they have any new vids. ? great listening for around the bbq and s/pool. [29.4.2017]
Ryan Baer plays banjo!
Three old blokes behind look like old time gangsters
They are.
See them 3 gangsters in the background? Good ole NOLA.
Ahí estaré algún día con una birra en la mano.....
Who has dared to apportion this magnificent band a negative evaluation? Is his hearing impaired or just his sense?
Some people who know nothing about the roots of American Music. Most likely Beyonce or Miley Cyrus fans.

I'm sure Satchmo would have approved!
They almost got it .
though not required listening to this and not throwing them a Tom Jeff is grand theft .
I think it needs more washboard
very good dumoustier play for my @
The fplks look knd of, ''blase'' around that Mayberry looking town.
Band list misses Ryan Baer on banjo.
Oh but they can...and do...and brilliantly too...it's not the clothes that dictates the way music is played is it?..one has only to close ones eyes and listen..
Where Is Erika ??
😄
why are you so judgemental to people who are absolutley brilliant
prat
là tu pousses un peu ...
@@@
if you like a music, crowd around the players and enjoy - throwing dimes and cents and walking away is demeaning.
Pas mal pour des blancs
