I just watched this movie again, and I agree with you. This one is definitely in my top 5 as far as best Disney animated sequels. Right up there with Rescuers Down Under, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, the Lilo and Stitch sequels and Bambi II. Unlike some of the other ones Disney has made, these 5 feel like they were made with love and thought and creativity were put into their making.

I agree. Its not all sugar-coated and watered down like the movies nowadays. Captain Hook was still a good villain. And while this is one of the rare sequels that gives its protagonist children, I felt like Wendy was a better mother than Ariel, because she was truthful with her daughter about the problems. Jane was allowed to have cracks and flaws in her character and not be a perfect daughter. She had been forced to grow up far too fast because of the war and her promise to her father to take care of her family while he is away fighting and she needed that experience in Neverland to restore her childlike innocence and joy. As the story unfolds, Jane has to acknowledge her mistakes and take accountability and when she comes home, she is better for it. The problems aren't gone, but she can face them now...especially since her family is whole again.

I know it's common knowledge, but the children leaving London was a real thing. It grew so dangerous in London, all the children were being evacuated out of the city to the countryside or even to America, far away from the fighting. If some were lucky enough, they had family or close family friends that would take them in. They could only pack a small suitcase and wore a tag on their coats with their name and destination on it. But leaving their home, their parents, everything they knew behind was hard.

Like someone said her being angry at Peter was “unnecessary” and “her being uptight”. She grew up in the middle of a WAR. OFC She’s not gonna believe in magic anymore due to what is literally happening outside her front door.
She had a reason to be upset and act like this. Sure it doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it does help explain why she is how she is in the beginning.

I think that's one of the things that Jane must struggle with. She loves her dad (perhaps being one of those girls who gets on better with their dad than mum) and remembers what it was like to have him around. It's not a pain that she can share with her brother because he has known no different than it being the 3 of them really and that makes her quite lonely.

Four years after he wrote the original stage version of *Peter Pan* (1904), J.M. Barrie added a rather frightening final scene in which Peter returns to the Darling nursery to find that Wendy has grown up and has a young daughter named Jane. As Wendy watches, filled with nostalgia, but also, one senses, terrified, Peter and Jane fly away together into the night. The scene was later included in Barrie's novelization of the play, *Peter Pan and Wendy* (1911), which ends with the words, "And so it will go on, as long as children are gay and innocent and heartless."

This is my favorite sequel of the classic Disney movies (and that is saying sth, because the sequels of Disney are not exactly good).
I love the fact that both Peter Pan and Jane have a character development very noticiable; for one hand: Peter learns that he can’t force someone to do sth that he/she doesn’t want to do and tries to empathize with Jane as well as help her go back home.
Summarizing Wendy’s and Jane’s character development will be the following one:
Wendy went to Neverland to learn how to be an adult
And Jane went to Neverland to learn how to be a child again

I've always been on a see-saw with this movie ever since I saw it in theaters. Now that I'm older, I really appreciate this movie for its ambiance--especially with how enhanced Hook is with the dark ambiance around him and the push for more humorous animation from him. It's really turned him into a more versatile villain. There are a few lines I cringe with, but it's a kid's movie; it's totally fine for it to be on the nose. I've come around to really liking this movie. It's got great animation, great moods, and very believable connections between characters.

3:00 I like how this movie also addresses the harsh reality of just how heartbreaking it would have been for the kids to be separated from their families. I guess _Narnia_ did that too, but when I watched that movie as a kid, it just felt more like the kids were going to summer camp or something, but I guess that could just be because that opening with the house nearly getting bombed made the kids going away seem less horrifying by comparison, despite that being a direct result thereof. It makes me wish I watched _The Wall_ first - now, *that* movie truly goes into the horrors of the second W0rld W@r, including how the kids were sent to potentially abusive homes/schools, something one Doug Walker so miserably failed to pick up on.

It's equally haunting for those of us who know about the tragic early death of Bobby Driscoll, the voice actor and character model for Disney's original *Peter Pan* (1953) to see his image reanimated in *Return to Neverland.*

@@a.g.demada5263 It's a long story, but briefly, he was fired by Disney immediately after *Peter Pan* was released (in spite of the fact that it was hugely successful). He was only 15 at that time. He continued to act, but he struggled with drug addiction and ended up in prison. Afterward, he couldn't get work in Hollywood, and moved to New York City hoping to break into Broadway theatre, but found no work there, either. For a while, he became part of the avant garde art scene in Greenwich Village, producing artistic collages, and making a final screen appearance in an underground film called *Dirt* (1965). After that he disappeared for a time, and it was only after his mother started looking for him in 1969 that his dead body, which had been found in an abandoned building a year earlier, was identified. By that time, he had already been buried in a pauper's grave in New York City's Potter's Field on Hart Island. In a mass grave with more than a million others, he will remain forever a truly lost boy. He was only 31.

Hey nick, it's always been delightful to you watching these movies, I personally fell in love with this sequel when I was young. It was funny and wholesome, but I just want to ask lf you can react Tarzan 2 one day, I'll say something about it it's not perfect and it's not that bad, it like an ok movie, because tarzan 2 was the sequel I couldn't stop watching when I was little for some reason, maybe I liked the jungle animation on the first one. It look vibrant and made the branches look bouncy, so yea that pretty much it really, but take your time of course.

    18:57 Huh... I didn't know Cubby was a Jehovah's Witness. (Or, I guess, a Cephas's Witness.)
For those wondering, Cephas was the real name of Peter the apostle, and Peter is just a Greek translation of his Hebrew name (which means "rock").
