- We welcome you into my grandmother's kitchen in Cabeção - Alentejo
We helped out in the kitchen to prepare a very tradicional Portuguese soup (Caldo Verde) cabbaged soup but the highlight of this video has to be the (chouriço assado) grilled Portuguese chouriço. We are really enjoying these moments with the family.

I can’t wait to visit this village one day. Wow
Yo this Portugal series is so good!!!
Go portugal meet them...we would like to see Jet Lag Warriors, Travel Gamers and Ken Abroad to unite again. 😊😀
Homemade olive oil from her own olive trees?! Mind blowing! Grandma can cook!
In our region we grew up having always homemade olive oil and olives too so it’s pretty common for almost everyone to have olive oil even if they don’t have trees, a family member gives them the olive oil or they go to the factory and buy a few litres directly from them 🙃🙃🙃
Your grandparents are awesome
I like your 'kampung'
Love watching your life back in Portugal.
Hope 1 day, we can watch Christiana cooks some food that she learned while travelling, like roti keramat.
Take care guys.
Thank you, we have planned to cook something in the next few weeks 😁✌️
And Grandmas are always there to make sure we're well fed :) :)
Yes ahahah always making sure 😁😁
that OJ and mint.... maaaaaaaaaaan I want some
Adorable tour around your grandparents' kitchen and farm...lots of fruit trees, domestic animals and flowers are blooming... I envy how your nanny cuts the veggies...without using a chopping board 👍👍👏
Thanks for sharing and showing us Portuguese food ...indeed a scrumptious lunch !!
Best wishes and regards to both your grandpa and grandma 💖💖
Thanks so much ☺️☺️☺️
@@Travelgramers the pleasure is mine...✌️
What a nice kampung u have there..same like malaysia..the farm, the ayam, the kubota..luv countryside..
Thank you for showing us your grandparents house and wow!!, the storing and preparation of chourico sausages. Admired the way yr grandma cuts the cabbage without using a chopping board. She's so skillful. Love ❤️ this video. Cheers!
Many years in the kitchen 😁✌️ she's a pro 💛💛 take care 😊

The Best part, it's All Home grown, home made, au naturale! Love this Vlog! 😍❣️🍃✨👍🏻🤤
🤩🤩
Regard from Pahang, Nice Roti keramat,Marang.❤❤❤
Same backyard plantation except ours we have more pisang and papaya trees . Hahha 🤣🤣
We would love to have those 😁😁 some people have banana trees (one or 2) but the climate is not the best for them so they just give very tiny bananas or none at all 😅😅😅
@@Travelgramers God is Great . Created a balance environment for Us . I can FedEx fruits for you guys. 😊
Thanks for this wonderful video.
We in Malaysia welcome Eid tomorrow. 😁🇲🇾😁
This whole video have that 'kampung' vibes. Haha. Also that Chorizo hanging is very interesting. Chorizo is one of the meat that I would love to taste or any kind of cured meat. To bad that it is non halal. I also have a mulberry tree! But it's 1/10th of your grandfather's size. I always find that if the shape of the fruit less perfect the sweeter it is. Sends some love to your grandparents from us the fans.
It's definitely a Kampung life over here 😊 in Turkey they had halal cured meat made of beef maybe you can try that 👍 thank you and take care 💛
@@Travelgramers thank you. You too guys. Can't wait for the next episode!
God bless you and your family
Thank you
Oh I really really really love your grandparent's place. Very big land. Could plant many many fruits and vege. Something we could never get here in KL
Such a wholesome life! All you need is a beehive in the farm. Can't imagine the amazing honey the bees could produce with all the beautiful crops around
They used to have beehives and they still have honey from that time but now they are getting older and they just want to have less work to do 🙂🙂🙂
From Kuantan..
Believe it or not my Portuguese (Villa Real) Great-Grandparents were very similar here in California. I grew up hanging out in their garden and enjoying all the food they grew. This video has made me miss them so much! Thank you for sharing your family with us!
protugal kitchen is very bright and lively colour
Amazing farm and kampung life..
Thank you 😊
This is very2 nice video..
I hope to see more video about Portugal culture, foods & diversity before going to travel again..
We will make more videos 😁😁😁
It’s sweet it’s good ❤️

tq for sharing your grandparent place with us.. i wish i too had a farm like them... ohhh, grandma always cook killer foods... i miss my grandparent a lot... send my regard from Malaysia to them... 💋💋💋 19:03 my grandma used to take a nap like that too...
Ahahah thanks do much, here in Portugal it’s common to take a nap after lunch specially during the summer because it gets really hot 🙃🙃🙃
@@Travelgramers i know right.. after a good lunch you must have a good siesta...
Ohhh yeah definitely a must 😁😁
@@Travelgramers 😆😅😂 same in my granny's kampung in Taiping! After makan, minum ☕ and 😴😴 👍🏻
@@joycetan4684 I love Taiping...always raining.
Wow, your grandparents' place is very interesting, with farm, vegetable garden, vineyard and fruit trees. The drying of sausages at the chimney is also very intetesting and the cabbage look different from the cabbage in Malaysia. The grilling of the sausages is also very facinating. Portuguese food is definitely facinating. Your grandparents' place just reminds me of the youtube videos on farms and vineyards in Albania. Looking forward to see more from Portugal. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😊 we’ll make more videos from Portugal 😁😁
It's not ordinary domestic cabbage. Portuguese cabbage aka Tronchuda Beira aka Couve Tronchuda aka
Portuguese Kale. Unlike most cabbages, this vegetable doesn't form heads and grows in leaves like kale. That resulted in the alternate common name of Portuguese kale plants. Sweeter and more tender than regular Cabbage, it may be harvested as a whole plant or leaf-harvested to promote center re-growth with paler, milder, frilly leaves. Widely adaptable, Tronchuda tolerates heat spells and can be over-wintered in temperate climates. Traditionally enjoyed in Caldo Verde, the linguica-potato Portuguese soup.
@@cdchooone2554 Very interesting, thanks for the info on Portuguese cabbage.
Wholesome 💛 your grandparents are adorable ❤
Thanks
I miss my Portuguese grandmother cooking in outdoor kitchen
Such authentic homey atmospherics!
Tx for sharing!
I’m reminded of Malacca (Malaysia)!
Awe....your grandmother reminds me of my grandmother and the way she cooks. My grandmother never measured anything. She knew exactly how much of this and that. Always came out delicious 😋
Grandmas always have a great hand for the kitchen 😁😁😁
Cozinhados da avó, do melhor que há. Saudades. Aquele abraço do Porto.
Sem dúvida
Abraços do Alentejo
I had this soup in Portugal and it’s good.

they look fantastic for there age God bless them..
My father is from Vila Nova De Gaia.
I went there once in 1998. Have been stuck in. The USA since. Have to go back, life is short.

Such an amazing grandparents. Your nan's cooking is wallah. 😘
Oh this takes me back to my childhood! Yummy 😋 😋
Nice land with fruit and olive trees, Thanks for the tour.
Your grandfather's and grandmother's still looks young💕
🤝
Classic kitchen n classic garden. Joao moustache inherited from granddad.😀
This makes me want to cry
Soooooo lovely 😍🤗
💛
Greetings from Negeri Sembilan,Malaysia.I like your grandfather's farm. Wish I have one like that.
Thank you 🙏
The greens being used are collard greens not cabbage. Cabbage is more compact with a much stronger flavor. Please don't interpret this as a criticism. Just trying to be helpful. Love your videos and their authenticity.
cool, thanks for sharing! will be watching more of your adventures
Good on you both..spending time with grandparents..peaceful kampung.in Malaysia we are still on MCO otherwise we would celebrating eid fitr(Hari Raya Aidil Fitri) with our grandparents..similar values..just pick the herbs sorrounding our house
Selamat Hari Raya 🌙 even tho this and last year have been a bit different than usual 🙃🙃
Ar ha... finally the food video that I have been waiting for.
I went looking for the sausage but we have different chorizo.
Wonder where can I get to try this burning sausage in Malaysia . 🤔
Nice to see Happy family eating together.
Hmm maybe a Spanish restaurant but it will be different from the Portuguese ones 🙃🙃 once we go back to Malaysia we’ll take some chorizos for you 😁😁
@@Travelgramers you guys are the best. 🥰🥰🥰
You are the best 😁😁😁

Always the best moment- eating mum's and grand's cook together with family. No wonder both of you know about good food when came to Malaysia - because you guys come from a family who good with cooking.

Beautiful place
Amazing food,nice bro...🇲🇾🇵🇹
I really enjoy watching this! Your grandparents are awesome! Send my regards to them from Malaysia. Your grandmother is a great cook. Looks so yummy!
Joao, do you know how to produce olive oil & making of wine too?
Thank you so much 💛💛 we make our own wine from scratch every year but the olive oil we just pick the olives and then we take them to a olive press place
@@Travelgramers any chance to see the process of pressing the olive?
That’s a hugeee mullberry tree!!!
Thank you for showing this this was great.
Thanks 🤩
Love this episode.....
And nice food 😋
Hi we have almost the same jade ring 💍 Looking forward for more interesting videos 🥰
I bought it in Kota Bharu 😁
Very nice kampung guys...😍😍😍
That soup looks really good!
Your making me hungry keep up the good work
💛💛
Wow this is fantastic and so much fun guys 👍 love your grandparents house , they have everything right in their backyard. A small farm with chickens and ducks just like a 'kampung' house in Malaysia. Love the mini orchards too with all kinds of herbs , plants and fruit trees. It's like a playground to your granddad 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 love their house. I'm sure your grandparents house brings memories back in my village when I was a small kid , thank you Christiana & Jaoa 👍👍😊
It sure is a big playground for them 😊 they have a little bit of everything, It's a Kampung life over here. It's so nice to hear that this video bought back so many memories 💛 take care
avo ❤
Your grandma is so lovely... How old is she is? My grandma also is still around and she is 84 years old.
Owh she is 76... 15:48
My mother have the same type of pressure cooker like that !
Sedapnya orange juice!!
🍊🍹😋
Wow vegetable is your diet
That’s a hugeee mullberry tree!!!
Even in your backyard there is Disney like field with cute flower,it can’t be found here in Malaysia i guess 🥲
It's a big tree but gives small mulberries 🤣
Interesting-looking cabbage.
I think it is called Tronchuda Beira or Couve Tronchuda or Portugues kale. It is actually an open cabbage, not kale though.
Reminds me of my VaVo❤
I miss her😢
💛💛
The pig so cute..m
Fantastic ! Hope you are enjoying the pleasures of home-cooking . Here in Hong Kong flights with Turkish Airlines have been suspended due to large numbers of infected passengers . Thank goodness you got home safe .Any more thoughts about Tomar and the north ? By the way , the oldest DJ in the world , Ray Cordeiro , does his last radio show in Hong Kong tonight before retiring at the age of 96 .Good health .
That's not good news hopefully things will get better very soon, we are going to stick around Portugal for a while, we have plenty of places to visit 👍 whaaaat 96 and still working as a radio Dj wow that's incredible, we wish him a wonderful retirement
Selamat hari raya 🤗🤗🤗
Selamat hari raya 💛💛
Great video, I really miss the country so much. We need government permission to travel outside of Australia which is almost impossible to get. Hopefully next year.
Hopefully next year you will be able to visit your country 🤞🤞
Portugal
My husband was from Alentejo. This could’ve been his parents and is exactly how he grew up. What type of alcohol did you use in the chouriço roaster?
Is this garden also got persimmon tree?
Aah u also have daun ketum (coriander) in portugal..
We do and parsley
Coriander is daun ketumbar
Guys.. Maybe u can share with your grandparents on the similarities of the Malay language to yours? Remember u did a video from Terengganu?
They watched that video a few months back and were very surprised ✌️
Are you sure its cabbage, the leaves look like taro leaves or collards my portoguese friend always has collards. The stems from the greens do not maytch cabbage, more like collards
Hi, what's the name of the cabbage as I would like to grow in South Wales UK .. thanks
Hey, I think we call it Couve Galega in Portugal. If you happen to have any Portuguese friends you can ask them for some seeds I’m sure they have it or can get it for you. For the time we have lived in the UK we never saw seeds for that type of cabbage being sold, so you’re best luck would be some Portuguese people or the internet 😅🙃
@@Travelgramers hahaha my misses is Portuguese but she's not into gardening but her mom is lol .. now I know the name of it I'll see if I can get some seeds sent over from Portugal 😀 thanks for the reply! You've gained a Sub.
@@Travelgramers bom dia :0) so I've found a UK seller on eBay and I've ordered a packet of seeds.
I hope I can grow them in the UK lol. I'll do a video diary from sow to harvest etc .. I think I might do a challenge and see if I can just grow Portuguese veg in the UK this year.
I’m sure you can. Keep us updated on the progress we can then send you delicious recipes you can do with them ahah 😋
Ahh we only got to see your 2nd comment now 😅
Then you won’t need our recipes I’m sure your wife and her mum know a couple of good ones ahaha
