    This looks amazing! I love pearl couscous. Just to remind everyone that you need to cook the pearl couscous on a stove but when you are making regular couscous you only need to add the same amount of boiling water as couscous in a bowl or dish and wait for it to absorb. No cooking needed!

    Tried this for dinner tonight and it was absolutely delicious. This is light, fresh and full of flavor. Perfect dinner for a (very warm) Summer evening with plenty of leftovers as well. I plan on adding this to my regular rotation.

    I found your channel because I'm cooking pearl couscous for the first time, and when I heard that you grew up in Port Said I got all emotional because my amazing dad grew up there (very long ago, and also he died decades ago), and I wish I could sit with you and ask you all about that city! • @TheMediterraneanDish
      @TheMediterraneanDish  5 років тому +4

      Hi Claudia! You're right! This type of couscous is indeed larger than the typical couscous. It is also known as Israeli couscous or maftoul. We now carry pearl couscous at our online shop: shop.themediterraneandish.com/product/pearl-couscous/

    • @claudiasvartefoss6765

      @@TheMediterraneanDish But it's still a pasta? The Israeli couscous? Because in your video it looks like seeds... My husband and I going to go off wheat for a while to see if we are allergic to it. Thank you so much!

    • @TheMediterraneanDish
      @TheMediterraneanDish  5 років тому +3

      Yes pearl couscous is like tiny pasta beads. Regular couscous is smaller than pearl couscous, which is what you might be referring to. You can learn more about pearl couscous by clicking the link to the recipe in the video description. I go into a little more detail about the couscous.

I've made a Mediterranean cous cous for over a decade but I'm interested in trying the pearl cous cous!

    What is the ratio of couscous to water to cook perfect couscous?

    • @diveskiruiz4876
      @diveskiruiz4876 3 роки тому

      Actually you don't need to cook cous cous. The normal way to make it is covering the ration of cous cous with hot water. The water always has to be one centimeter above the cous cous. Be careful with the ration, because like the rice it will grow. After you cover with the hot water, just cover it with a plate or a plastic and wait until the cous cous get dry (5 to 10 minutes), it basically just absorbe the water. Then take the cous cous and mix it with olive oil for some hydration otherwise it will be too dry. If you want some spices flavor add them to the cous cous before putting the water on it and the same procedure cover with a plate or a plastic and wait 5 to 10 minutes. After the cous cous is ready you can play with vegetables and other flavors. The cous cous is an easy dish that you can combine with a lot of things. If you don't want to add spices you can flavor it with herbs like Parsley, Mint or Coriander and use a fresh dressing like yogurt.

      Actually this recipe uses pearl couscous which requires more time to cook. What you’re describing is the way to cook the finer couscous
