The one thing that worries me personally is how quickly they've transitioned to something different and how it could alienate some long time fans. I just recently discovered the band, so I don't mind it personally, but I can totally see how some fans could felt left behind.

People do this all the time but takes a shit ton of practice to do right and not fuck your voice over. Studio effects definitely help smooth out the shift tho.

Bands like TDWP and Architects enjoy mixing it up, they don't have to sound the same as they did years ago. This album shows growth for Architects; furthermore, they didn't pull an Issues, or I See Stars, where a band slips into a more poppy, mainstream, genre.
