My mom and dad and all there parents, parents are Lumbee Native. My Maynor’s are from Hoke county right off 211, my Oxendine branch stayed in Robeson county off 72 near Maynor center, might be 73,74 whichever one is in the prospect school district. My son goes to prospect elementary today, and his mom is a full blood Lumbee as am I.

My grandfather’s home is Robeson County, NC. His name is Curley Lowery Sr. I’m named after his mother Florence Oxendine. I’m new to Ancestry genealogy. I am interested and looking forward to following your work. I have some pictures that were passed down to me. I will upload them to my profile on the site. Take care God Bless you

I also come from Oxendines but somewhere along the line they left the tribe. Not sure what happened

"Nuts, governmental genealogy". I am of Lumbee Indian descent and I cannot find my family connection. Lumbee Indian tribe proved my connection by 105 members of DNA volunteers. Mark Monroe, thank you.cousins.I love researching ancestry.

It would be cool if there were links to the handouts & slide shows in the info. Seems like there have been a lot of cool maps & documents with all the speakers.

This is an interesting idea. You may want to reach out to the Museum of the Southeast American Indian directly to see if this is possible. They can be reached through their contact information at uncp.edu/museum

Anyone saying Lumbee dont have language thats a dismissive understanding of history and the impact of contact with Europeans that happened long before western expansion. Also tons of Indigenous people dont speak their languages today through the Americas to include the United States and Canada. They're still Indians/Indigenous!
