- Visiting Alpinestars US HQ and talking with Heath Cofran about air vests (tech-air) for motorcycle riders / racers. We take a little tour of the Alpinestars US HQ and talk about Alpinestars full line of air vest products.
I get asked this a lot so I thought I would add this info to the description:
Cost to recharge a Tech-Air is $179
Cost to recharge and replace the air bladders is $299 (Tech-Air 5) and $399(Tech-Air 10), this must be done after 2 deployments
Awesome presentation, really revolutionary gear the tech air 10
Crashed in an airbag on the street (rear ended by a car) and it helped prevent serious injury. I swear by them.
I love to hear this!
Great presentation! Thanks for this, as it makes me even more confident about purchasing the Tech Air 5. Just waiting for it to arrive so I can have the extra layer of protection.
Very nice and in-depth review that helped me determine the one I’ll be purchasing and answered everyone of my questions and some I didn’t even think of that I needed to know
Just a side note on the Tech-Air Race. In race mode only one canister is deployed but in street mode both are deployed. One additional note on the Tech-Air 5. If you're using a one piece suit it can be difficult to get into while wearing the vest. It has a tendency to bunch up as you pull the suit over your shoulders. It ends up being a two person operation. You probably would not have this problem with a two-piece suit.
Miss seeing you on IG. Still have the Tuono?
Having just switched to a techair 5 from the techair race I know what you are saying about having difficulty putting it on. A great tip is to put the airvest into your suite first, making sure the sleeves of the airvest are inside the sleeves of the suite. Then pick up the suite and vest by holding them both together in your hands so the vest doesn't move and put them both on at once. Works great for me and I can get into my suite and techair without help pretty easy.
Q.. what about the vests for MTB park riding?
They are coming out with an off-road vest soon. I wonder if this might be usable for MTB bike park stuff? By the way I'm with you on this after having broken my back (two compression fractures) jumping at a bike park.
So air tech 10 works for suits only? Would it work for different apparels
I believe the Tech 10 was designed to work with a suite. It might work with other clothes, but I think A* has other vests designed for use with other cloths.
By the way... Cost to recharge a Tech-Air is $179 ---- Cost to recharge and replace the air bladders is $299 (Tech-Air 5) and $399(Tech-Air 10), this must be done after 2 deployments
Can you use Tech Air 10 in street mode?
Yes, it has a street and race mode.
How does D-air compares to A*?
I can't compare as I don't know much about the D-air system.
I'm doing a comparison of the Helite eTurtle, Turtle 2, HMOOV backpack, KLIM Ai1 Air and Rally, D Air (Dainese and Ducati, same vest different branding) Held Air, Alpinestars Techairs 3 and 5. Waiting for Hit Air to see if they wish to participate.
