I didn’t realize until I started researching it that it’s not just for women who don’t want kids, but it’s a medical procedure for unviable pregnancies, whether ectopic or if the fetus doesn’t have a heartbeat, among other reasons. It blew my mind when I realized its use as a medical option was so important to health of a uterus having person and their ability to get pregnant again if they want to. I also felt dumb for falling for the narrow definition despite being pro-choice before. Although I’m a childless cat lady by choice, I feel more empowered to stand up for women who want children and why the procedure of abortion is as important as other essential care during a pregnancy.

@@Avarrenyou are arguing like a republican... seriously. i am in favor of women having the right to choose. abortion still isn t a fun thing though. girlfriends and cousins of mine who have had abortions didn t enjoy it. i supported my cousin and a girlfriend and they slept over at my place after. they both happen to have had unsuccessful pregnancies after. there is no causality, but still. they are childless now, in their 40s and would need ivf treatment, but cant afford it. another reason not to vote republican. one has accepted her situation. the other regrets having had the abortion and can t talk about it without crying. women should have the right to choose, but abortions aren t fun or funny. they are very personal decisions that women make.

Joke, use the words that make them feel uncomfortable. Normalise normal things. Just ask the Civil Rights movement, or the Queer Politics movement.
