  • LEARN HOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF IN A STREET FIGHT: nickdrossos.com/packages/
In a real street fight, you don't want to worry too much about pressure points. Usually, they demand the kind of accuracy that most people never have time or fighting skills for. Subscribe to my channel : / @nickdrossos .
The only method that Nick has ever applied in the real situation is this: trap your opponent's head in a hold, pressing the bone of your forearm into his face, preferably between the jawbone and the cheekbone. As long as you press hard, the attacker will experience sharp, disorienting pain.
If you think that doesn't hurt, try pressing the blade of your forearm into your own face and see how it feels. Now imagine being trapped in a hold that's five times as strong!
Don't bother with other techniques involving pressure points -- this one is the best when it comes to practical self-defense! Learn it, practice it, and you will have a very useful tool in your fighting arsenal!

There's a ton of videos here on self defense...but yours are by far the best! Very practical and effective!
I was a decent lightweight wrestler in high school, but still a small guy and needed an advantage. I remember bruising some faces using this move...funny how they can't think straight when the pain comes!
Great videos Nick...my hat is off to you!

I have just recently discovered Nick Drossos…I have to say, I'm hooked. I love the vids…love the commentary and will be checking back on Mr Drossos regularly. He reminds me a lot of a friend of mine from the MMA world. He has knowledge and the ability to interestingly teach…and the spirit he displays is a plus as well. So…well done Nick! I'm a fan…and thank you for putting REAL scenerios like these out there...

I am not going to critique this technique. It has its uses and can be simply performed. No mumbo jumbo. I appreciate the simple and effective.
I find it refreshing to see techniques that are simple to use and effective. Most UA-cam demos are old style, hard to learn and hard to remember, ineffective if not done exactly correct, techniques. They are way too rigid of a style and technique to be effective.
I joined because your videos are interesting.

Hey, I don't get bullied at school but sometimes people like to pick on me and hit me but I don't want to hit them back cause I feel like I could hurt them and they would get mad saying they were joking and I over reacted but they are starting to annoy me cause they always punch me, im not looking to start any fights but Is there any way I could get a stronger punch or protect myself or a way to get out of a hold? Thanks!

The reason it works is the practicality of it and the use of massive leverage. This is one of the pressure points that WILL work even if the guy is in fight mode, which normally allows one to ignore most effectiveness of pressure points. Good job!

this is great, ive worked the doors for years in the UK and this just proves there is always more, always another bullet in the magazine. People do not realise that prancing around in the gym can quit often mean nothing in a real world situation, with adrenaline and some times pure fear rushing round in the system the brain is not working nearly as effectively as it should, and an adrenaline dump can happen to all of us, I liken it almost to a brain stutter if that makes sense. subbed :-)

this looks very effective. I trained self defense for a few months, and we learned to chain punch very quick, like in wing tsun, after the fight-entry (driving forward and throwing both palms to the head, what also covers your own head by the way). The opponent turns his head in most cases instinctive to the side, so you can hammerfist his back head (you also made a great video about hammerfists) and step behind him. I gonna integrate this technique as the next step! thanks you Nick!

Nick, if you do this properly, is there any chance the other person might have enough power left in them to attack you on the groin. In the video I noticed that his hand could have reached your groin. Or is the grip going to be really really strong, preventing him from doing so?

  • @Metalbob011

I would call you a brother. I was a bouncer, but I used similar movement to a guy who tried to fight with another person because of his skin. At the time it was during 911 and I was shooting pool watching the new on the soon war. I used that move only because I worked at a counselor with youth. I trained in various arts but I didn't want to hurt the idiot. He buckled and I told him "your behavior is inappropriate", and overall it defused the fight. I am impressed with your discovery.

What about the p6 pressure point on the wrist? I have struck people and been hit in training there, it is incredibly painful if caught right and if struck hard downwards, actually numbs the arm for a few seconds.
Not that a strike to that point is easy but would you reccomend trying, i have never deliberately tried because there is really never time to look and aim, and intercept the punch, but it is why i now prefer the concept of strike to block rather than merely block, it means if you do catch that pressure point, it is really going to hurt them and hopefully delay their counter to your attack.

  • @hardcaliber19
    @hardcaliber19 10 років тому +2

Hey Nick, great video! I don't agree that this is the only pressure point attack that actually works though. Leg kicks to the femoral nerves are very easy to land, and crushes/deep pressure to these areas work well in grappling. Crushing/grinding the nose tip works for control and pain compliance. Brachial Plexus Origin (on the outside of the neck between shoulder and ear) works very well applied in the same way as shown here (although that's more of a choke), by crushing with a forearm while grappling, and by striking. Not trying to call down your video at all, I just think telling people not to learn any other pressure points because they don't work is misleading. There are a number of good pressure points that have street value IMO. I've definitely used them to good effect on the job.

This actually does work, I used to part time assist bounce at a club here in the 90s. One thing I CAN say is, it sometimes takes a just a tad longer to get control on someone highly intoxicated as the pain is suppressed from all the alcohol. The window of time isnt big enough to make a fatal mistake though, so thanks for posting some real stuff. You got at least one person that KNOWS it works. You can also use that same part of the arm to squeeze the jaw and pull up on it causing immense pain.

Go for K.O. their brain shakes the same way. Eyes, but it's a small target. Throat but can be dangerous, Knees, nuts but not necessarily a fight ender... not that ANY technique is a guaranteed fight ender. Never depend upon any technique to finish it.

Another thing Im sure you know but you can include in videos like this, is some pressure points wont work on some people. The gross motor ones like this one usually do, but you have to sometimes throw in the fact someone might be on something, have a high tolerance for pain or both.
