Hey Mr. Nick. Could you please make a video on how I can defend myself against a trained kickboxer? Backstory : There's a guy about my age hitting on my girlfriend. My girlfriend clearly isn't interested in him. The problem is that he is a trained kickboxer. He's jealous of the fact that she's dating me. He told me he will pick a fight with me, and I've tried talking myself out of this situation and it hasn't worked. He's been trained in kickboxing, where as the only knowledge I have about self defense is from your videos. Kindly help me out here.
Bro, call your friends, literally. Go train and spar in a Boxing gym. If all else fails, be prepared to fight, try to avoid a fight at all costs but if it happens, fuck it, hit him with everything you can and never give up, keep your hands up, if you're in a situation to bite him, do it. He's a dick.
At 52 years of age, I'm not sure I would have the speed and timing to be able to move fast enough to dodge and block like that. I carry my backpack around with me most of the time so I would probably try to use that to block.
Great information Nick! 👌And to continue on Costa his question, what can you do if you want to break up a fight? The person in the video suckerpunched one of the boys but what if this is not a option? For example, as an adult how do you break up a fight between two teens or young adults? What would you recommend? Could you give advice on that, please? Thank you in advance
Situational awareness or presense of mind, quick physical reactions or reflexes, mental strength or toughness, composure or self-confidence, resourcefulness, the instinct or the will to fight back and defend yourself, knowing when to fight back or when to just run away as fast as you can, avoiding people places and situations that potentially lead to heated altercations or violent encounters, and your martial arts/fighting/self-defense skills and techniques (if you have any or some) which you have spent long periods of time practicing and training, can drastically increase your chances of successfully defending yourself in street fights and surviving other similar violent self-defense encounters. Speaking based on my personal experience as a self-defense practitioner.
You made a valid point about slipping punches regarding concerns of knee striking attacks however I think slipping punching attacks is best utilized while backing up and retreating from fist attacks rather than staying in the pocket and slipping which is foolish and I agree with you! So essentially it is my opinion to slip while retreating and duck while circling that is if you have space of course.
I like the theory I do a lot of the same kind of training but I think like me, Nick is lacking sparring experience. The lack of head moment and especially range distance looks novice . I could be wrong but properly not. Hey it could work fine against a normal person, since you can cover better and can time the strikes better. But against a amature who have trained a few years the technique will likely fall apart very fast. Also normal people can't take many hits to the body and it is a good way to bring the hands down to setup for a headshot. I am also getting older, så I like this kind of drill training but I find it hard to use it in sparring. Sorry if my text sounds negative.
I have only had a few fair fight and they were among friends , and other times I got jumped or suckered when I was ambushed , then my weapon comes out so many time 3to 4 individuals got beat down however you learn from that stuff , the shield concept I've been jump and still have been too prison several times took alot of time ⏲ away from me in prison you learn alot as well it's cellfights and more , if it's not among your friend , you are going get beat to death or if your lucky , a guard won't let it go to far unless it's the guards and some will cuff and beat to death , any officer on here watching would agree they know some of their Co workers are cold blooded killer and may afraid for there family I hold no grudges against the correction officers real dirty ones I can tell you that much

Why do untrained fighters throw punches back and forth at the same time like in the beginning of the video? I've never understood that.
Wild haymakers are probably the most dangerous Punches in the streets

Turtle up, hands up and keep distance.
Why did that big dude jump into that fight? He looked like a knuckle head attacking that smaller guy. It wasn't his fight...
