I saw SCANDAL in Adelaide during my late teenage years and early 20's, many times. I was usually stoned after a bong in the back of my Holden 1967 panel van, with mates. Scandal were world-class IMO! I wonder what they're doing now? 🎶🎵🎤🙌❤
Great band for thier time, remember seeing them Elizabeth Rugby Club and hotel at Salisbury.
I went to high school with Peter Watson and Chris Harriott, Peter brought his Les Paul to school a few times, great memories.
I remember this song at Rossmoyne senior high school,,1978,, in Western Australia,,,we were all crazy about this band ,,Scandal ,,but it was all short lived ,,Stuart Kerrison ,,did very well,,,

What a great performance - the band has a classic 70' look with the hair styles and the flares - the bass guitarist looks fucking hot with the afro hair, flares and shirt with the big collar

I think Stuart Kerrison was the roadie/mixer for Wendy and the rocketts and what an excellent job he did
I know he did work with them. He also worked with T'Pau (credited on Bridge of Spies), OMD and I think Was Not Was.

they were trying to sound like anybody that was AOR and on the radio. they got a record deal for their attempt, but not a long lasting audience. all members were Englishmen, which explains the detachment from the local music scene.

You are correct about Scandal not building up a lasting audience - they broke up at the end of 1978. A bit of trivia - I am pretty certain that keyboard player Chris Harriott is the same Chris Harriott who has composed the theme songs for several TV shows!
PS - the bass player is rocking an awesome Afro!

Stuart is a great singer on this. I've only got Carrack to go on re this song and they (Ace) were clearly in outer space apart from him. At least Scandal! made a band feel about it. It's a song that could be revisited. By whom, I don't know. Maybe a 3 4 beat with a new bridge like every other fucking adaptation/mutilation of classics? I'm thinking Rupert Holmes, yes still alive at 71, doesn't drink pina coladas but is still trying to find Him, who left his cigarettes on the window sill. "It's me or it's him".........

@@tigerlikeswater Nope. Scandal's version clearly superior. It has an ethereal vibe that is lacking in Ace's more polished commercial version. Carrack's vocals are great. But for me, the music lacks the soul or Scandal's version.
@@kitchendezina No. I never "kid" about these sorts of things. Carrack is a great musician but his version is best suited to small coffee lounges.

Patty Smyth fronted an American band called Scandal. However, the Australian band Scandal was formed in the mid 1970s several years before the American Scandal appeared.
There timing was crap . Glam was out and punk/new wave was it..
This is bad. Lead singer has no range
Paul Carrack has a wonderful singing voice. Stuart Kerrison did a great vocal job on Scandal's cover version. But this song is so much more than just the vocals. Scandal's version is a bit more "rock and roll" and delivers the tension appropriate to the subject matter.
