I remember when the hundred first played this song in 95 and it was the greatest thing we ever heard and for it to still be played to this day shows the longevity of it throughout the years. This song and Sweet love are almost staples in the 100.
Point taken. However, FAMU has/had a distinct sound that's unmistakable. That is what set them apart from the others. Whatever the Count Basie Band, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Earth Wind and Fire, Prince, and other distinct ensembles played, you knew from the start that it was them--regardless of what they played. Whatever the great soprano Jessye Norman sang, you knew with absolute distinction that it was her. Some people like it, some don't. I LOVE IT!
This was amazing. FINALLY some FAMU vids on a NICE CAMERA! BUT, I must say... I still like NSU's better, not to take ANYTHING away from FAMU! It's just that NSU's version always hits the part in the song "Who can, who can I run to?" and it ALWAYS gives me chills, no matter how often I watch it. Different arrangements though, but I love 'em both. Kudos to FAMU!
@araiford33 i feel ya bro i think its dat low brass feature ima b tone playa myself so dats y i say dat but i respect it im still contemplatin on it till dis day
SORRY !!!! I must admitt! FAMU plays the "hell" out of this song. NO one plays it better! Simply put, It's there song that they play extremely well. Some other bands play other songs well or better then FAMU. But this one's theres........... :)
WUT? na im jus kidding...Woodwinds are needed badly in bands! I play alto sax and i LOVE hearin woodwinds tear up da field...especially woodwinds in FAMU's Band!!!!
@BassClefKilla I understand where you are coming from. but overall i just think they one up famu. and of course famu has more captivating shows...there are 400+ of them. bands with 200 ppl cant make cars or ppl lol
now i love famu. i mean LOVE! but i came to the light today and found out that there is one band that tops famu...n that is NSU! NSU arrangement of this especially is so much better. sorry fam, but the legion got yall...in everything!
@BassClefKilla naw. when i say one up i mean they sound better. the legion just has something famu doesnt. Its more rich. if yu thought this was "hd" or watever the announcer man says...then idk what the legion is....its unexplainable. i am a die hard famu fan but when i heard that legion...it was done. especially when it comes to trumpets
FAMU has a nice little arrangement of this song, and they have a few others like. But there is no way I would want to listen to a band that 90% of their songs sound like this. I'm not saying that is the case with FAMU. There are a lot of songs I've heard that I don't think really fit FAMU, and I have no idea why they try to play em. But even with ballads I wouldn't want this sound every time. Sometimes I want it a little more funky ot jazzy. Even SU has a few nice slow songs
If ya'll thing this selection is good you should hear my school creekside high school perform this and many other selections such as single life by cameo at jamboree.
I just finished listening to them, you know they just don't compare to ALABAMA ST,JACKSON ST,S.C. ST,SOUTHERN OR FAMU. I do feel the funk but no power, pioneer with no sub, I LISTEN for highs, lows, mids, melody and quality.
Boy that bassline is something serious!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ayanna Jones I miss FAMU so much. I hope they've changed their culture since that tragic incident Bc I need them back here.

it has to be an honor to have played one day in that "famu band". no one can handle them in concert formation.
FAMU has the best ballads
No dynamics but they wasn't going for that, this sounds amazing
Not many crescendos and decrescendos but the dynamics in instrument exchanges were obvious.
This made me remember all the great memories in band 🔥
Man, dem tubas is killing me! Oh my lord! When they come in at 0:34 that is plain sick! Love my Marching 100!
Awsome! the only part I wish they added was when Tamika said "sweet love" before the second verse lol
I can listen to them play all day
Them tubas just came in nicely
Just contact the FAMU Department of Music and give them your information.

now i love famu. i mean LOVE! but i came to the light today and found out that there is one band that tops famu...n that is NSU! NSU arrangement of this especially is so much better. sorry fam, but the legion got yall...in everything!
Yasssssssss!!!!!! FULL OF SOUND but i love my HBCU version better #NSU
@BassClefKilla naw. when i say one up i mean they sound better. the legion just has something famu doesnt. whoa now buddy do not. not include the legion these three run the meac BCC FAMU NSU they are true beasts in everything they do.
Yeah, but I don't like NSUs sound. If they had better tones, than I could get more into it. Especially that trumpet part.
Think I counted around 36+

trombone need to clean it up
Timing is slightly off!!! Get in that pocket Hundred!!!
WPBchnicca still good though!!!!
You don't sound like a musician. Period.
You sound stupid go listen to the song then this
We swac school add that exxtra funk to the situation, not talkin down on meac, but we all know swac is a more exciting, lit, and better than meac
THIS ARRANGEMENT SUCKS COMPARED TO NSU's! IT WAS JUS LOUDER...NO DYNAMICS!!!....oh excuse me,,,ONE MAJOR dynamic at the end
This shit nasty & to damn slow.
Norfolk’s better by far...
