The part when she said she was too busy to do the liquid diet??? Drinking a shake or some bone broth how is that more work than cooking your tilapia with broccoli? This woman is such a deeply disturbed addict that she cannot even admit to herself what’s going on here. She will be dead by the time her daughter is 10.

The sad thing is that if she REALLY was concerned for her daughter, she would face the hard truth that she probably won't live to see her daughter graduate from high school. This woman is her own worst enemy - in the words of Pogo "We have met the enemy and he is us." But she will no doubt simply delude herself about her chances of dying - very likely suddenly - from an obesity-related incident as it seems this has been working for her to date.

Yeah. I hate it when people use their kids as an excuse for why they can’t take care of their own health (…and won’t try to be a good healthy role model for their kids, and won’t even try to live long enough to see their kids through to adulthood). Can you imagine…she’s going to leave her kid an orphan, and that child is going to watch this someday and see how her mom blamed HER as the reason why she had to stay on this path to an early grave.

This is what kills me about some of these people. They claim that their schedule is "SO TIGHT" that all they have time for is fast food! Excuse me, but this is NOT the 1970s! Almost every fast food joint serves salads. Better yet, almost every grocery store sells ready made salads! You can buy grilled chicken strips! You can get tuna in a pouch! Being busy isn't an excuse to eat badly! Again, Leneatha just didn't want to do right.

    • @karilnowak7962

Tunafish is great for you, especially if it is wild caught and you don't have it more than 2-3 times a week because of the mercury issue. I stretch my 1/2 pound tunafish salad over three days (and obviously eat other things as well.) Learn how good salmon is and have it once a week , even if it's a small piece. Or add fish oil supplements to your diet if you hate fish, or have lots of mushrooms and eggs.

You are so right! The reason is they are addicted to fast food and the entire process that surrounds it, buying it, sitting and eating it without even going to the table, the fast clean up. Beyond the addiction and the habit sits ignorance! Get one willing person in your circle who knows the local grocery store and actually shope there. Go with them, see what's available for quick meals.

As said before: *Even* if the *only* food in the universe is fast food: Stick. To. The. Diet. 1200 calories is 1200 calories. Yet, SO many of them go "Welp, guess all I can do is body slam 9001 calories of cheeseburger!". But: No. You may have *one* burger. Then you are at the limit. Still hungry? Well, better start pouting.

    • @karilnowak7962

@@LoveMusic-pd5iz A rotisserie chicken is usually available or buy things like chicken tenders that you can sauté in minutes. Even if you feel the need to lightly bread them it is still better for you. Or things like thin pork chops or skirt steak which need to be cooked really fast (although it's best to marinate the skirt steak for up to two hours so it's tender.). I cook up rice and have it on the side for two days. What is so hard about washing two pots and pans? I also buy precooked beans that only need to be warmed and are ready to eat and canned chickpeas that can be pan sautéed in olive oil in four minutes. (Try adding chopped fresh rosemary, garlic, coarse black pepper and salt to the chickpeas and don't cook them on a really high heat as olive oil shouldn't be heated above medium.)

She seems to have a very distorted perception of her eating habits and what is normal. I think a contributing factor is that the program she is entering is ALSO not about normal eating habits, but another extreme - which is necessary after bariatric surgery. By not knowing what is normal, she will most likely never be able to correct her perception. It makes some sense to me considering where she is coming from, despite it being frustrating.

I was thinking same thing as you. Using her daughter's asthma and doctor appts as the main excuse to not doing the weight loss program. She keeps saying she has to put her daughter first BUT if your health starts to deteriorate and you either cannot physically care for her anymore or worse if you pass away from complications due to obesity, how is that going to help your daughter? She's very young and will need you for many more years, hopefully you will realize this in time. You can't take care of her if you are no longer here.

There was an obese guy in my town years ago. He ended up basically living in his old Dodge Ram. The front drivers seat was removed & he sat in the backseat to drive. The day he died (around 50 yo) my niece was working at the ER when he was brought there by his brother in the bed of a pickup, in the rain. The staff couldn't get him out & that's where he died. The doctor on duty estimated he weighed 1,000 lbs.

Dr Now seems to object to using food trackers and yet he has a specific calorie count in mind (1200 calories) and also wants them to eat low carb and high protein. I don't see how they can do that without some way to keep track of all those things over the course of the day, and a food tracker does the math automatically.
The alternative would be to give a list of possible meals with exact instructions, like the exact size of pieces of meat or measured volume of other foods. But to expect chronic overeaters to be able to magically eyeball portion sizes seems unrealistic.

There are ways to control your hunger. You can start eating large amounts of fresh vegetables sauteed in olive oil and garlic with fresh herbs to make them tasty. Even try eating a whole head of cauliflower sautéed in olive oil and garlic and tell me if you're still hungry in three hours. Have hard boiled eggs and cold chicken and premixed salads on hand or boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce. Get fresh cole slaw or better yet make it yourself with pre sliced cabbage and carrots or have tunafish and seafood salad ready to go or peanut butter on just one piece of bread. (Multigrain whole bread with seeds is very nice with peanut butter.) Try adding celery seed and more salt and pepper to egg and tuna salad to make them taste better. Some hunger is just getting over the sugar and high carb and salt addictions and it has nothing to do with actual hunger.

For my hunger cravings (I’m getting into working out and wanna maintain a decent deficit for cardio and I’m doing weight lifting too but I have a bit of fat so I’m not too concerned with adding a caloric surplus atm) I have boiled eggs and carrot sticks! I sprinkle some lemon pepper on the eggs and I just like the crunch of carrots so I don’t use dressings which helps cut down unnecessary calories. She’s not ready to diet. She knows she needs to lose weight, and she talks a lot of talk, but when she couldn’t get immediate weight loss surgery, she just set herself up to fail. Like a lot of Dr Now’s patients, it’s one excuse after the other until eventually they can say “this doesn’t work for me” and happily go back to overeating. Only when you take full responsibility for yourself, and make your weight loss your priority - whatever it takes and no matter how long it takes - can you really start to lose weight.

How can they look at their multiple plates and not know they are over eating? That tells me that she is a bit combative when she's faced with having to do something for herself that she doesn't want to do. It amazes me how many people think surgery will take care of the weight loss. Dr. Now making them lose on their own first is necessary, not just for showing their commitment, but weight loss and a healthy diet needs to become a way of life BEFORE THE SURGERY. Surgery is not the end. Sean knows that. Fortunately some Dr. Now patients get it. We love the success stories! Then, there are those who continue to live an angry and obese life.
