One of the greatest trios in jazz. Peter & Larry improvising beautifully sculpted phrases , Bill laying down the time in a way that only he can What a great chemistry !!!
I love this trio. I used to go see them play in NYC in the late 90s. So great to see them still at it. Bill has such a unique voice on the instrument. Wonderful.
Relaxing, psychedelic, sophisticated and funky. Theres no other guitar/organ trio on this planet like the LGT. Been a huge fan for over 20 years, listening and following every album....
I was there!! Amazing performance. From the compositions and interpretation, to their spontaneity and Larry's jokes. It is no coincidence that it was sold out.
awesome, I was here yesterday...I ve been going to concerts of this trio for 15 years, they never dissapoint ...bimhuis has a delicious crisp and clear concert sound quality, it is simply the best venue in terms of hipness and sound quality. ..thank you so much for uploading!!!
Chemistry between Stewart and Goldings is amazing, real virtuosos, Larry is cooking all throughout....been listening to this line-up since "Time is of the Essence" with Brecker (a terrible loss for music) and Pat Metheny instead of Bernstein, nothing has changed, still absolutely elevated sound for us mere mortals
I just come back from the concert in Berlin, Zigzag Jazz Club. It was just amazing to see those brilliant musicians having fun together. So jazzy, smokey, human....Thank you for the great evening!
This is the 5th concert I have watched on Bimhuis they do an outstanding job. The choice of talent, the audio and video presentation. A lot of other venues could learn an awful lot from this group. Thank you so much for uploading these wonderful concerts and for doing such an incredible job. I am a big fan of these guys and as a drummer, I especially like Bill. Kudos.
Impresionante larry Goldings,, es como un baterista pero con 5 baquetas en cada mano y muchos bombos jajajajaj es una locura lo que toca este señor. Inspiradores estos tres músicos.
BTW, I wanted to add I bought this album recently and it is superb. As always these guys have great material and perform it perfectly. Also any drummers out there know why Bill keeps reaching over to his hi-hats and either spins them or stops the shimmer? I play drums, not like Bill, but I cannot figure out what the heck he is doing. I have slowed it down and watched it many times I still can't get it. I have looked at other videos talking about Bills style no one mentions what he is doing.
Bill has an ear fo how he wants his Hi Hat to sound and feel. The bottom head is on a Tilt. that can be part of that he adjusts the top OR bottom Cymbal to be in that perfect for his ears position to make that certain 'Chick' sound that he wants. Hi Hats in particular move around a lot , so it's not that uncommon to re adjust it. Hope that helps.
@@ericwilhelm2941I agree, sometimes the hi hat it can sound hollow (almost like out of phase) if it gets in a certain (mostly parallel) position, so to regain that "chick" sound you can turn them around to get a good spot.
One of the great pleasures in life is to watch and listen to Bill Stewart play the drums.
Completely agree.
Yes! Great feel, chops, creativity.
That ride cymbal. Wow
I was borderline thinking the very same thing. he is a Storyteller
Absolutely, whrn I hear him play, I no longer miss Tony and Elvin!

Have always LOVED Bill Stewart's live album "NY-1" (at the Village Vanguard) with pianist Martial Solal and bassist François Moutin.

Thank you for posting. I’ve seen Peter many times but always seem to miss the dates for this trio.
My favorite ever organ-guitar-drums jazz trio. Bill Stewart's my favorite jazz dummer.

Saw this trio in 96 together in Boston. Left floored. There is something about the way they sound together that I just love.
I love Pete Bernstein and his wonderful guitar! Thanks for sharing.
Bill Stewart is poetry in drumming.

트리오 만세.. 빔하우스 만세..
Bueno no, lo siguiente !
Fuori sync. 😢
That guitar sound is crap
and no sustain either, he has to buy a squier
I think swinging in 3/4 is more interesting & feels better than in 4/4 imo!!!
