You two are my absolute favorite people to watch! No whining, no crying, just matter of factly state that there is an issue and take care of it! So upbeat and wonderful! Thank you for your time and effort putting these videos together! We live in our RV and have a small oven as well, we put parchment paper under the pizza and that helps!
OH WOW! What a lovely message to send to us ❤ We’re glad you enjoy watching! Thanks for the top tip on the parchment paper - can it withstand the gas flames?
I enjoy your vlogs. Helps me relive the wonderful years we lived afloat. I am Phyllis but still use Mo's laptop. We had 3 aboard a 60ft boat. It worked very well especially when we came to locks. One walked ahead, the boat came through and No. 3 stayed behind to close the gates. Devises locks - no problem. Happy travelling
We’re glad you enjoy them Phyllis. 3 onboard is just fabulous for locking but we’re just happy to have the two of us. Elliott has single handed before and it’s a right royal faff 🤣 See you on the next one 😍
Hi Mic - tell us about it. If we don’t have another drama in the next year it won’t come soon enough 🤣🤣 It was nice to just cruise and waft up the canal unhindered 👍🤣
Helllllooooo. Traaaain feel the rumble in the boat was it the trains lol. Or the weather 😅😅😅😅 OMG those houses next to the canal got better and better and so fid the lawns so lush. So no mention of reverse gear issues so fingers crossed all fixed 😊 The weather warnings ⚠️ you mention on here I guess was when I were in Cornwall. Wasn't too bad really bit of a fuss over nothing but depending on where you lived 😉 bet uou had no 6ft waves eh. 😢bit disappointing really I bet 😕 no trees down to chop up😂 Slippy lock slope you be careful wonder woman Sue 👩 All the very best 👌 Christmas nearly here 😀 burnt pizza 🍕 Kev the Brinklow kayaker. 😅
Cheers Kev. Didn’t they just - those big bangers near Christleton were just STUNNING!!! Reverse gear is now fixed. It was a combination between a worn MORSE controller and a cable clamp working itself loose. Whilst reverse now works it has changed how nb JOSH ‘handles’ between forwards and reverse but much like a classic car you just learn how to work around it. Burnt pizza for Christmas - I’ll take it 🤣😍
The slot at the bottom of Wharton lock is for stop-planks to allow draining or repairs! Most locks have them - sometimes top and bottom, not always very obvious…..👍😊
Hi Sue & Elliot! The round building at 4:46 I do believe is a lengthsmens hut, the following is an extract from Wikipedia (Lengthsmen were used specifically on the English canal system from its inception in the late 18th century, being responsible especially for lengths of towpath and, in the absence of a lock-keeper, for locks, their trappings and surroundings. Many earlier lengthsmen were accommodated in isolated cottages which, if close to a lock, might include lock-keeper duties, including management of water levels and control of weirs. Canal lengthsmen were also responsible for repair and maintenance of banks on their "length", including cutting reeds and vegetation and treading puddle clay into sections of bank which were weak or suffering from leakage.) Regards Mike
Hi Mike - we’ve seen some longer, Rectangular huts in the past which we assumed might be for this use but these things were round and small so wondered why they would be made that shape and size? You could be right though and it would make some sense, plus people were quite small ‘back in the day’ weren’t they?!
Headless swans and crocodiles 😮. I'll have a pint of whatever it is that you are drinking...😂 I see you went past my house... the one where Sue started breathing heavily. You should have moored up and popped in for tea and tiffin. It must feel strange when you sit at your table with a cup of tea and the tea starts rippling due to vibrations from the train tracks below. You certainly pick some interesting places to haul ashore. ❤
Ah, is that Casa Harry! We thought it would be a touch un-Yorkshire for your liking 🤣 It was quite the pile though - gorgeous!! As for mooring over a tunnel….it felt like such a hassle to unchain and move we thought ‘sod it’ 🤣🤣
I don't know if you or anybody else noticed, but Capt Gary in his last vlog gave away your winter plans!! Hope they all work out well for you both. Glad the gearbox problem was a relatively easy fix. Kevin
@@jockmctavish8984 Indeed. They did ask though if it was OK to mention they bumped into us (not literally). The joys of being a bit behind on vlogs at this end!
Nice3 vid again 👍🏽 QUESTION- Might be my Dutch, but why not call a very short staircase lock a ... kitchen step lock or something like that? Safe travels you guys 😉👍🏽🍺👋🏽
@NarrowEscape1 No you guys that's totally up to you- I'm Dutch, I live in the Netherlands. To my knowledge we do not have anything remotely like staircase locks or kitchen step locks - We only do one stop 11,85 meter / 38,9ft in one straight go in this country (that's our deepest one in Maasbracht). You guys are native English speakers so it feels more appropriate for you to carry that torch of new canal lingo- We outsiders can only feed you with suggestions and ideas and loudly applaud your adventures, toilings and ponderings 🙏🏽💪🏽👍🏽🍺 Cheers- Erik 👋🏽
Great video, thanks. Are there any essential parts/items that you carry on board for the just in case possible problems with josh, like spare fuses or engine parts. Or is it pretty much plain sailing.
Thanks Richard. It seems, at least this year it’s far from plain sailing and invariably the thing that breaks is the thing you don’t have. We carry some spares, and we probably need more, like the coolant hose that nearly burst at Lymm but there is an element of where do you stop with things? We think though that we will have a good think and add extra things in. We have a spare battery and jump leads, fan belt, fluids and general bits and pieces but we don’t carry say a spare alternator or starter motor. RCR recovery is a must though we think! 👍

Now then Erik, good suggestion. Maybe you can start a new movement and see if you can get things renamed.
