Yes she is. Her work is as important for us to understand the past as the cameras of today is to understand what happens now.

Doris Kearns Goodwin is absolutely brilliant; one of those “I want to be like her when I grow up” people.

What a terrific book! I'm just now finishing "The Bully Pulpit" in audio format. A mesmerizing story. Highly recommended.

Happy Happy Birthday Doris Kearns Goodwin! You are one of the best historians of the 20th Century and I love all your books! I admit that my favorite is Same Time Next Year, your memoir about growing up a Brooklyn Dodge fan in the 50s. I hated to finish it. It was such a wonderful book about a time long gone I am sorry to say.

i'm concerned that Spielberg will ruin the film adaptation -- it ought to be a "maxi-series" so as to cover everything interesting ... which is EVERYTHING! i am in love with DKG's The Bully Pulpit

not to leave out the wives' stories, which are -- both of them -- incredibly interesting, even fascinating, in the case particularly of Nellie Taft. what a tragedy!

I never cared for T.R. until I read the trilogy about Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris.

As mentioned by Jeff Greenfield, how will future historians comprehend what happened now as historians of today can see what happened in the past because of letters and diaries that were written then?

I bet she could have beat Van Doren on Twenty-One if "those Feds" didn't knock it off the air.

This interview strays too much from this great book about midway through.

Love the author. The book was way too long And not half as good as the Lincoln book. Not enough fresh material in there to make it such a slog.
