The Story Behind My "Rick Beato Signature Gibson Les Paul Special DC"

  • I’m excited to launch this signature guitar because it embodies all the features I’ve loved in the Double Cuts I play along with a new thinner and resonant body. I’ve spent my life dedicated to music education. The fact that creating this instrument also allows me to raise money for the Save the Music Foundation was the final incentive I needed to want to be involved.
This is a unique guitar that was built for a unique and timely cause. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Dude. You have a Gibson Signature Guitar. That’s one one of the coolest things that could possibly happen to a guitarist in any possible universe. What an acknowledgement of your talent. You are a class act Rick and you inspire this no-talent 56 year old guitar player stuck on the pentatonic scale in A-minor to continue to try and learn and improve. I feel like I know you because we’re close to the same age and all your lists are identical to mine. I literally shed tears when Neal Peart and EVH passed. Anyway, I wish you continued success and enjoy your videos because of your obvious love and enthusiasm for all things musical. And dude……….Gibson made you a Signature guitar with YOUR name on the headstock. That’s a life well lived.

It’s an acknowledgment of his viewership and therefore advertising eyeballs. Rick Beato is a fine enough guitarist, but Gibson isn’t doing this to salute anything but advertising. To be clear, Slash has a signature guitar for the same reason. Their popular reach is selling guitars. Period.

How the hell can you get more badass, legendary, humble, intelligent, AND wholesome than this? Rick is quickly becoming the legend we wish we all knew of decades ago. You are something special Rick beato. Even though you're twice or maybe triple my age I love you and I'm proud of everything you've done and are still doing... You are the man as far as UA-cam musicians and teachers are concerned

Rick, it’s understood to earn a PhD in any field requires one to make a unique and additive contribution to the existing body of knowledge and insight. I think it’s very fair to say this applies similarly to being invited to receive a signature series guitar by a top-tier guitar company. Through your various channels, your commitment to music education and your incredible enthusiasm to highlighting iconic music - new and old - you have earned something truly unique and I am in no way surprised. Congratulations on your achievement! 🤩🥳

Congratulations Rick! It is obvious to myself and others I'm sure that you could have become a big star just as a guitar player. In a way, you have to many of us. But instead, you've devoted your life to being a teacher. Your decision to donate your profits from the purchases of this guitar to music education exemplifies that fact. What a classy way to do it. You are so deserving Rick!

The guitar is beautiful! Doublecut Specials and Juniors are my favorite guitars Gibson ever made. I learned to play on a '59 Junior. @Jim of Aotearoa Ha ha ! Yep, I play both ways, but hardly ever above 15th fret due to the types of music I play, and the types of guitars I play. So my necks wear fairly evenly from cowboy chords to around 12th/15th fret area.

    • Rashid Rani
Rashid Rani 13 днів тому +1

@gazzie12000 if you ever played a guitar before you'll know that those area you mentioned don't need much pressure to apply to execute most solo or chords.

@Stoney's Dead True, but for jazz, which I know Rick likes, I would have thought he'd be down there too. I play lots of open area lead, I actually rarely go above 12th fret, 15th at a push, so mine would be worn the other way round, from nut end to about 15th fret. Interesting to see and a great guitar by the look of it, definitely on my radar!

When Rick started his channel, I am guessing he did it to educate people and introduce them to music they probably hadn't heard. Today, he is the "Godfather of UA-cam Music Education", with his own signature Gibson guitar! Now he is interviewing heavy hitters like Sting and Brian May, to name a few. While I miss the "What makes a song great" episodes, the channel must continue to grow, and with growth comes change. While I hold out he will make a few more "What makes a song great" episodes, for pure nostalgia purposes, I also look forward to what he has in store for us. Bravo Rick!

@Stoney's Dead, I know that isn't Rick. I almost took your reply the wrong way until I saw the above. To be interviewing the people he has lately and doing the interview speaks volumes as to how well his channel has grown and matured.

Would also be nice if Gibson could also launch a budget version (Epiphone branded, perhaps) for kids (and adults) who can't quite afford $2000 on an instrument. Maybe it can be sold direct with a discount for kids in a music program at school. And this isn't to say this guitar is priced too high.

1:33 wooww I did nót expect that resolution and depth. I'm often pretty dissapointed by electric guitar sounds; because the distortion removes so much of the resonance, clarity and resolution of the sound (even though it sounds 'cool').

Not sure what happened to the sound of the guitar at the end, but it sounds like the high notes mainly come through the left audio channel, not really pleasant!

I have my Italian Grandpa’s Gibson L-0 acoustic. It sounds and plays great. It was made between 1929 and 1931.

The double cut LP has always been my favorite Gibson (I am a lefty, easy conversions) Wish they were in my price range.

Pelham blue is such a sweet color! Awesome signature, even cooler that it supports an important cause. Great to hear your family backstory and history w Gibson...Now I want a guitar with P90s 🙉🤘

Well done and congratulations, If a company such as Gibson afford you the wider recognition you wholeheartedly deserve then here's hoping a few brain dead record companies stop blocking your videos and recognise your value in educating a new generation.

I remember in high school we were watching a pat metheny concert in the music room. Somebody noticed metheny a guitar had his name on a plate on the 12th fret and our instructor said “when you get as good as him you can have your name on your instrument too”
Safe to say you’ve made it haha. Congrats on the amazing channel and all of the achievements. You’re a legend

When i started getting better at guitar 3 years ago, I asked my parents if they would get me one for highschool graduation. They said sure. A local music shop, Russo’s Music in Asbury Park had this Cherry Red Les Paul Special DC with P90’s and I thought it was gorgeous! Loved it and the next day my mom bought me that and a Fender Blues Deluxe 40 Watt Combo Amp, w/ the Yellow Tweed. I played that thing for over two years and finally got back into playing it again and remembered how much I love this P-90’s sound. The guitar will always be named, Jami. My mothers name. The stories we all share or have in music coincide sometimes, like our love for this guitar (even though mine was the 2019 reissue Les Paul Special DC)!😂Much Love and peace to you Mr. Beato!🤙❤️🎸

There’s (or was) a Russo’s music shop in Hamilton NJ.
Keep playing and honor your Mom. Good stuff…
