The Story Behind My "Rick Beato Signature Gibson Les Paul Special DC"

- Опубліковано 12 вер 2022
- I’m excited to launch this signature guitar because it embodies all the features I’ve loved in the Double Cuts I play along with a new thinner and resonant body. I’ve spent my life dedicated to music education. The fact that creating this instrument also allows me to raise money for the Save the Music Foundation was the final incentive I needed to want to be involved.
This is a unique guitar that was built for a unique and timely cause. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Dude. You have a Gibson Signature Guitar. That’s one one of the coolest things that could possibly happen to a guitarist in any possible universe. What an acknowledgement of your talent. You are a class act Rick and you inspire this no-talent 56 year old guitar player stuck on the pentatonic scale in A-minor to continue to try and learn and improve. I feel like I know you because we’re close to the same age and all your lists are identical to mine. I literally shed tears when Neal Peart and EVH passed. Anyway, I wish you continued success and enjoy your videos because of your obvious love and enthusiasm for all things musical. And dude……….Gibson made you a Signature guitar with YOUR name on the headstock. That’s a life well lived.
Nice words to Rick, Charles! I agree on almost all of that. I want that guitar...
Keep it up!
Man, I’m a 51 hack guitarist. I once was a good drummer. I make progress when I really make a consistent effort, but I’ve fallen off. I own a few guitars, a bass, a piano and a drum set. Sometimes I consider just giving up.
Even more so to a deserving player!! It's great to finally see a signature guitar go out to a great guitarist!!
I was gonna say a lot of the same. I'm 59.95 and was stuck in the pentatonic box. Rick Beato has helped a lot. Keep on playing.😁😁😁😁
@@Acemechanicalservices why give up? Do you not enjoy playing?
Putting a musical instrument in the hands of a child is one of he best things we adults can do to make the world a better place in the future. Bravo, Rick.
Not sure anyone could have put that better! This is great
Better than a toy gun, thats for sure!
As long as it sounds and plays okay. Nothing wil put a child off learning an instrument faster than if it is torture to use or sounds terrible.
I saw my 9-month-old grandson lit up when I placed his hand on a hand-drum: "BOOM-BOOM!" He's been banging on stuff ever since.
I'll be so stoked the day I can give him my entire drum kit. :0)
YES!!!🤗
Rick, you're a class act by donating your royalties on the guitars to a Charity, but we couldn't expect anything less from you because that's what you are, a class act and a true lover of music education. An immense thank you for the genius you're distilling through your channel(s). Take care.
How the hell can you get more badass, legendary, humble, intelligent, AND wholesome than this? Rick is quickly becoming the legend we wish we all knew of decades ago. You are something special Rick beato. Even though you're twice or maybe triple my age I love you and I'm proud of everything you've done and are still doing... You are the man as far as UA-cam musicians and teachers are concerned
"Even though you're twice or maybe triple my age I love you" Really weird to bring ages into it
@@BeyondTigerMilk He most likely means it's unusual for him to relate to older people but Rick is an exception. It's a nice touch
@@beejoutbush3322 You're mind reading and I'm commenting about what was actually typed.
@@BeyondTigerMilk Mind reading vs just reading ...
@@BeyondTigerMilk He's not mind reading, he just used his hair holding device to provide a very likely explanation. What's so weird about the age mention anyway? Did it trigger you?
What a beautiful guitar Rick - looks phenomenal!
When Rick started his channel, I am guessing he did it to educate people and introduce them to music they probably hadn't heard. Today, he is the "Godfather of UA-cam Music Education", with his own signature Gibson guitar! Now he is interviewing heavy hitters like Sting and Brian May, to name a few. While I miss the "What makes a song great" episodes, the channel must continue to grow, and with growth comes change. While I hold out he will make a few more "What makes a song great" episodes, for pure nostalgia purposes, I also look forward to what he has in store for us. Bravo Rick!
Don't do it Greg- that isn't Rick.
@@stoneysdead689, I know that isn't Rick. I almost took your reply the wrong way until I saw the above. The comment was supposed to be a compliment to Rick, how his channel had humble beginnings to what it is today. I've been watching Rick for years and not only enjoy his work but appreciate the time and effort he puts into things. To be interviewing the people he has lately and doing the interview speaks volumes as to how well his channel has grown and matured.
@@gregwasserman2635 Yeah, and it's all FREE, too!!! (For poor folks like me!)
I'm not a musician. In fact, I don't play any instrument; However, I find myself watching this channel because of the charisma Rick brings to every single post. I've learned a lot here and want to thank you Rick... Thank you!
Congratulations Rick! It is obvious to myself and others I'm sure that you could have become a big star just as a guitar player. In a way, you have to many of us. But instead, you've devoted your life to being a teacher. Your decision to donate your profits from the purchases of this guitar to music education exemplifies that fact. What a classy way to do it. You are so deserving Rick!
Pure love and admiration from us to you Rick - this is a way to pay tribute to you - thank you for your trust to work together!
Rick, it’s understood to earn a PhD in any field requires one to make a unique and additive contribution to the existing body of knowledge and insight. I think it’s very fair to say this applies similarly to being invited to receive a signature series guitar by a top-tier guitar company. Through your various channels, your commitment to music education and your incredible enthusiasm to highlighting iconic music - new and old - you have earned something truly unique and I am in no way surprised. Congratulations on your achievement! 🤩🥳
Haha. Yeah, it's nothing to do with the marketing department at Gibson thinking they might flog a few Gibsons and Epiphones on the back of free promotion. No you're right, Beato's unique contribution to modern music telling millions of youtubers "Listen you pesky kids, music was better in my day!" is the reason behind it.
All I have to say is God bless Rick can you imagine your grandfather immigrating to United States and then in two generations his grandsons have a signature guitar made for him by Gibson what a honor it must be for your family legacy and then you donate the proceeds to such a worthy cause once again you are blessed my friend
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’ve played this guitar in Rick’s studio, and it’s fast and bright and completely awesome. Congratulations on the release, my friend!
Thanks my friend!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice comment! I am still getting use to seeing my Tomcat guy Ward Carroll ,here talking guitars and music with Rick ...
☺
I have my Italian Grandpa’s Gibson L-0 acoustic. It sounds and plays great. It was made between 1929 and 1931.
Dude! That's fantastic :-)
Wow, I was happy for you to have your well-deserved signature model. Now I am even happier for knowing that your proceeds are going to music education. You are a great man, Rick!
Rick, that guitar is simply beautiful. Congratulations this is amazing.
Rick, did you think your guitar would sell out in just hours? Think about that. It's a testament to how many real fans you have. Please make more! There are a lot of people who want to try this guitar (i'm one of them).
I'm getting one...will arrive next week. If you'd like to make a trade, let me know if you have something really cool. I won't even open the box.
Then why buy it ??
Damn you Rick! I really, really promised myself I would not buy more guitars but this one ticks all the boxes and gifting the proceedings to a good cause is just amazing, warms my heart : )
This is an incredible story my friend. So damn cool.
If Rick is the "Godfather" of UA-cam Music Education, then you're the "Cool Uncle!" You both inspire us "kids" to pick up the guitar everyday!
Thanks brother!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This guitar appreciates all types of music, knows oodles of it's own theory, and helps budding guitarists grown and get better... Congratulations, brother! It's one of (if not THE) major milestones of literally EVERY GUITARIST EVER!!!!
I think it's great that Gibson is honoring someone who's not a shredder but a teacher. We need more of that.
You can see, at least I do, that this is not about $, this is about the love for music and passion for teaching.... Having access to this channel and to Rick's knowledge is a blessing!
Charity? You may have actually given me a "reason" to buy this guitar. Bravo, Rick! Love these body shapes!
very honourable. what a guy. go buy one! :D
When i started getting better at guitar 3 years ago, I asked my parents if they would get me one for highschool graduation. They said sure. A local music shop, Russo’s Music in Asbury Park had this Cherry Red Les Paul Special DC with P90’s and I thought it was gorgeous! Loved it and the next day my mom bought me that and a Fender Blues Deluxe 40 Watt Combo Amp, w/ the Yellow Tweed. I played that thing for over two years and finally got back into playing it again and remembered how much I love this P-90’s sound. The guitar will always be named, Jami. My mothers name. The stories we all share or have in music coincide sometimes, like our love for this guitar (even though mine was the 2019 reissue Les Paul Special DC)!😂Much Love and peace to you Mr. Beato!🤙❤️🎸
There’s (or was) a Russo’s music shop in Hamilton NJ.
Keep playing and honor your Mom. Good stuff…
Congratulations Rick! 🎉 that’s such an achievement! From one music educator to another, I think it’s amazing what you’re doing to support music education with children. Amazing job and well deserved! 👍🎸
Rick Beatos Importance in this era and environment is very much underrated. Well deserve. At this point he aint just a youtuber media wise, He is one of the best music journalists!
Beautiful guitar and even more beautiful purpose in music education. Bravo Rick. Thankful you’ve put this out. 🤘🏽
Nice back-story.
I love that proceeds are going to such a worthwhile charity. Excellent job, Rick!
A whole new level of respect for you sir! You took something that honors you and turned it into something honoring those less fortunate than yourself. You're not just talented, you have stellar integrity and heart!
Fantastic tribute and what a worthy cause. This 66 yr. old player that's been playing for 50 years just discovered you about a year ago and your demeanor, class and expertise is inspiring. Music will continue to be magic until forever.
Rick, I know you’ll never read this but you have taken my respect for you to another level. Everything you have in life is well deserved. Thank you for continuing to educate us
Looks like Rick read your comment…
I don't like it, I LOVE IT!!!. It's my favorite model and color, I don't understand why nobody (except you) plays it, it's perfect!!!👏👏👏
I'm so happy for you - and all the people that you encourage through your channels (including me!) I listen to you every day and you enrich me, Thank you Rick.
Good job RB and Gibson.
And I love how you have reassigned the proceeds to such a worthy teaching cause...
100% you’ve earned this honour Rick. You’re a top man doing so much for music. Love your work from 🇦🇺
Rick, congratulations on getting this guitar made in your name. What a treat. I must admit although I’m not a huge Gibson or LP fan I really like the look of this. And I love that you’ve donated to charity. Such a great move on your part - you continue to be a great inspiration musically but also as a genuine guy. Really love all your videos, well done again on the guitar and donation and thank you for inspiring us all every day 🙏🏻☺️
It warms my heart to see how much you do for the continuation of music education. I tip my hat to you sir, keep up the great work!
As humble and modest, as you are. Congratulations on this prestigious acknowledgment of you, as a person and musician. I cannot think of a more deserving and nicer guy to receive this nod. A true gentleman .
As an educator myself (and in your old haunting grounds of Ithaca, NY), I really appreciated the story behind your collaboration with Gibson on this. Congrats on the Beato Signature LP Special, Rick! -Tom
Congratulations Rick! I can't think of anyone more worthy of a signature guitar than you!
Rick, I salute you! Having just watched your video about receiving your new signature Gibson double-cut Les Paul special. I have always been impressed with your playing and teaching, but to me your openess, warm heart, and altruistic attitude come together to make you a really special guy. The fact that give your proceeds to children's charity's make you extra special in my book. Thank you for remaining a real honest and endearing man!
Rick, what an honor … what a classy move! Music is life, and you’re helping so many kids learn that. I salute you!
I'd been longing for a blue P90 ever since the Reverend Club King 290 a few years ago, and had missed out on that one. I was fortunate enough to be up early today and purchase one. Most of all, really glad this is benefiting music education in schools.
I've never played guitar, yet I don't think I've missed a single one of your videos / shorts in year's. I still go back and watch many of them over again. Based on the fact this is a charity, I'm going to plunk down 2K and pick one up. If I don't learn to play, or use it, I'll donate it to my local High School.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
So cool! I'm so stoked for you, and it's well deserved! Your contributions to the world of music are immeasurable.
Congratulations Rick! I think it's so very admirable that you are donating the proceeds and I hope you find some new and unique musical rewards in what a signature guitar of your own design can offer..looks killer!
You have presented me with an irresistible temptation. This is complicating my life because I recently bought an SG Modern. I have a soft spot for P-90s. I owned a 1961 SG Special (Les Paul) from 1973 to 2011. This temptation is all the more tempting because I have the means to acquire this beauty.
you're a class act, Rick. i have nothing but absolute respect for you!
Just placed my order! I've been waiting/watching for this guitar to become available. So excited for this one!!
Incredible Rick! Congratulations! You’ve impacted so many people including me through your teaching, thank you.
I would have done this with a wrap tail bridge and only two knobs - a master volume and a master tone. But it's yours and congrats Rick. It's beautiful and your proceeds go to such a good cause!
Well done and congratulations, If a company such as Gibson afford you the wider recognition you wholeheartedly deserve then here's hoping a few brain dead record companies stop blocking your videos and recognise your value in educating a new generation.
Love your channel - I encourage not only my musician friends but everyone who loves music to tune into because they can discover so much. So congratulations on your signature Gibson Mr Beato. All the very best to you. From 🇬🇧
Thank you so much for all you do, Rick.
You(and everyone who does something similar)'re the hero I needed when I was a dumb kid trying to make sense of the books I had, without the ability to pay for lessons. I have come so far as a musician since you've connected the dots and filled in some gaps.
I’ve been waiting for this! Congrats and well deserved! Looks and sounds amazing!
This story is great! Good guy through and through.
I've never commented on your short example videos because I just assume you already know how mind boggling your ideas are. (I'm going to say my thought anyway) Your creativity takes straight ahead music theory(s) and blows them up to jaw dropping possibilities. I love melodic lines and they just pour out of your brain! 😁
Amazing sounding guitar too.
You're a very humble dude, your family taught you that. Raising money and giving back to music shows your big heart. I love your signature guitar, absolutely beautiful.
Congratulations on your Signature Gibson Les Paul Junior, Rick. That’s awesome and well deserved! I love how fluid your arpeggios and lead playing sound.
Amazing. Even as les paul lover Today I do not consider anymore to buy a gibson, just because in Brazil we have amazing boutique guitars with our great wood. However you support to child music education is a heart beating touch to look for your signature Gibson. Congrats!
Congrats, Rick! Well deserved and a great charity! Much respect!
That's so great! Well deserved. A long life of guitar playing and teaching deserves such a great reward.
So so so well deserved, Rick! You're an huge influence/inspiration to me and many more people like me. Thank you so much!
Pelham blue is such a sweet color! Awesome signature, even cooler that it supports an important cause. Great to hear your family backstory and history w Gibson...Now I want a guitar with P90s 🙉🤘
3:03 - this is what a GREAT salesperson would ask after being told NO
So awesome! I love that your proceeds are going to a worthy charity. Everything about this, from the guitar to you are a person, just oozes class!
That’s a beautiful guitar, definitely sounds awesome and congrats on getting this model made
Congrats Rick!! You are awesome!!
Very cool!!! Congratulations and and for such an awesome cause. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This channel just makes you feel good.
It's a little out of my price range, but well done on guitar and donating the money. You didn't have to do that. That's a class act.
Wow, it's expensive....you pay through the nose for an American made guitar. I have 40 guitars and only have two American made guitar out of all of them.
Let's hope they have an affordable Epiphone run, too.
It’s a beautiful guitar. Love that Pelham blue and the double cut model. Good things must be shared 😁🤙
So touched that you donated the proceeds! Congratulations, and thank you!!
What a great advocacy Mr. Beato.....donating proceeds of your guitar sales to a very worthy cause. Congratulations and more power and success to you sir!
Rick, first, congratulations for the channel. It has been of great value to me. The guitar is beautiful.
But in Brazil, this guitar costs triple the price in the USA. Two unfair factors: the importer uses the US store price as the resale calculation (which is obviously wrong); the Brazilian government charges exorbitant import taxes (ranging from 65% to 100% of the invoice value). These launches take up to 2 years to arrive in Brazil. Never, I repeat "never" do we have instruments in store to test. I thought that Yamaha would change that, when they decided to establish physical representation in Brazil. But the absurdity continues. Importers used to making quick and easy money (with high profits); and the Brazilian State making it difficult in every way, and becoming an insatiable parasite. For now, my only protest against all of this is: I won't buy. Even if I could. I wish sales success in the USA.
Estou nos EUA e também não posso pagar. Talvez o Rick vai colaborrar em um SE .... quero dizer uma versão Epiphone na próxima vez ;)
Thank you Rick ! This is one of your best ever lessons for us all !
Wow Rick, this is ace. Bravo to you, not only is this a fantastic achievement and testament to your dedication to music, it highlights you as a person, having all your proceeds go to charity. Class act 🤝.
The best thing about your channel is what you've just said. You are a teacher at heart. And that is it, the best of your channel is your heart. Its you.
My music teachers were the only ones who could get through to me when I was young. I'm thankful for them every day! Super cool of you Rick!
A massive congratulations to you Rick!
You are more than well deserving of this beautiful instrument and that is something that I would like to believe that everyone on this community will agree on! 💙🎸🎵
You are an amazing teacher to us all and we love you and thank you for it Sir!
Cheers from Sweden! 🤘😎🎸💙
Rick, that guitar is you: unpretentious, joyful and it sounds great! You are a bright light in a dark time. Keep on shining!
Guitar is the most best friends...no matter day or night, happy or sad...they always ready for accompany you...Bravo Rick
Sure.... 😀👍👍
I absolutely love and appreciate your work Rick.
I'm so getting this some time in the future.
Congrats! You have helped to inspire me to continue wanting to learn the guitar. I love your videos, and hearing your stories. You definitely deserve this! Crazy how quick the first run sold out. I will keep on watching and trying to learn as best I can haha
Congrats Rick! What a wonderful monument to your playing and teaching 💜
Well deserved. Perfect color. The Pelham blue was already my favorite color of your guitar collection. Cried @4:41 . You're a great man, Rick.
Congrats Rick!!!! Having your own signature is beyond awesome.
Love the blue, and love the double cut. You've got to be bursting with pride.
Touch of class giving the proceeds to a worthy cause,
Congratulations!! Sweet and beautiful guitar!!!
Well deserved Rick. Congratulations!
Congratulations Rick! This is so cool! You hardly ever see the double cut les paul get any love. Sounds beautiful! Love that the proceeds go to put music resources into children's hands!
Congrats saw you in California and New York this year for your live shows! Happy to see your sig. Guitar debut! 🎸
Just lovely - you, the guitar, the stories!
Everything about this is so cool, especially the proceeds going to such a worthy charitable cause. Well done.
Good man. I love that you’ve donated your proceeds to educating children in music.
Great looking and sounding axe. With all the high quality FREE content RB puts out I’d say this is well deserved and hope it sells great.
Much deserve recognition long overdue. Congratulations Rick ! So proud of you, man.
Very cool that your signature guitar is finally here. Now I'm going to update my Christmas wishlist.
The story of your Grandfather brought me to tears , thank u for all you do Rick !
Congratulations Rick! Very well deserved and it looks and sounds amazing ❤️🔥
❤️ This video made my day. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Beato!
Guru Dude just leveled up another tier of respect from me. Already up on Everest near Summit, the fact that U achieved this honor, no lobbying, they came to U & ur DONATING all proceeds, really shows your true character Rick. Tip of the hat to you Sir, and Congratulations !!!
What a beautiful way to encourage kids to like music. Keep us posted on the success of this fundraising.
