The only thing is, we can't Thank Mr. Willie & the rest of our Veterans enough for all they did, are doing & will be doing for our Beautiful Country so we can have our FREEDOM. After all, our FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. It's all Thanks to those that laid down their lives while serving our Country so we can have our FREEDOM. The love & care a lot about our Country to protect her. May God Bless Them All & their Families!!🇺🇸🦅🎖️❣️
The men and women that served this country need to be honored and taken care of the rest of their lives. A shameful thing our government has let them down.
What dedication this Marine had to do an enormous amount of work to find this family. Thank you so much for sharing his story! Gratitude to all our veterans, no matter their color, religion or rank.
I hope that the family of PFC James will accept the respects, regrets, and condolences of an old cavalryman. A humble tip of the Stetson to his memory. And to Mr. Gray, USMC ret., Bravo-frikkin'-Zulu. You done good, brother.
What an incredible story. So, glad that his family was found and they have this connection to this incredible honor. Thank you to Mr. James for your service and sacrifice and thank you to Mr. Gray for your service and making this all possible.
"Semper Fi" and "This we will defend!" The land of the free because of the brave. Thank you for your service to your country, America, and to the US Constitution.
Thank you for your service, PFC Willy F. James Jr. And thank you for your service and heart, Mr. Robert Gray. You brought new life to this hero and his family.❤
Same here in New Zealand...Some.Maori soldiers were denied the Victoria Cross for racist reasons too. Its disgraceful and dispicable. Its a shame on both our countries histories 😡
Damn, his sister was so traumatized about losing her brother that she couldn’t bare the memory. Literally, his nephews and nieces didn’t he was war hero. Knowing this changes lives and perspectives of people.
Prejudice and is a terrible thing.. It's the worst of what a human condition can be in a human... What a heartwarming story.. His 103 year old sister holding on to her brother's medal of honor.... Brings tears to my eyes...
Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Plot P, Row 9, Grave 9 in Margraten, Netherlands. I'm an expat living in Europe. Next spring I'll be placing a red, white, and blue bouquet on his grave, in his honor, representing all of us on this thread... God bless you, Mr. Gray. Rest in peace, Willy James. 🙏
I don’t think the veterans of any war have been treated as poorly as Vietnam vets. They fought for years to get Agent Orange recognized as causing their health problems so they could be treated at the VA. I had a friend who was killed in Vietnam in 1968. His body had an escort and his mother asked if it was hard to do this duty. They said no, it was an honor. Now that friend is buried at the Gettysburg National Cemetery with his mother and father who also served in the Army. His mother during WWII and his father, who retired at the highest rank for an enlisted man, in WWII and Korea. My Dad was one of his father’s lifelong friends.
That's the type of american who's hand id shake. He did his honorable duty despite all the odds against him. He belonged to a generation that modern black culture would look down on. It's sad that folks like this man can be forgotten because he not thug or ratchet. Salute and rip Mr James.
Most people don't understand the sacrifices Black people in the military make. To possibly give up your life for a nation that doesn't value you as human despite being on this planet 🌎 for more than 3.5 million years. My nephew, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather all served in the Navy or the Army. The stories my grandfather told me about being called every vile name except Lawrence in Europe during WWI by fellow soldiers (caucasian) in the US Army was heartbreaking to hear. However, like his father before him, he wanted to serve this nation despite its history and disservice towards him.

I'm in tears. To go to europe to "liberate" others, then come home and be treated appallingly. To wind up dangling from tree limbs. Shame on this country.
Yep. The real irony is that it was the democratic party that supported slavery, created the KKK, and enacted Jim Crow segregation laws and yet today 90% of blacks will enthusiastically vote for them. 😅
A marine, leaves no man Behind. Thank you, Mr. Willie.
That's all the branchs
Once again a Marine steps up to do the right thing. Thank you Robert and thank you PFC James.
Imagine the selflessness of not being treated as an equal by your country but still going to war for your country.
Its disgusting, deplorable, despicable and really disappointing.
And then come back to your country and continue not being treated equally...
Beautiful story! Mr. Willie,Thank you for your service.
Thank you to the marine who never gave up in his search. Thank you for your labor of love and gratitude for a falken hero and his family.❤
Thank you all for your service to this country.
Well done Robert. Thank you for finally getting the soldier’s actions recognized by the family, and for the nation.

These young men were treated better in Britain than there own country. No wonder alot stayed after the war.
Well done Marine. A noble deed for a noble man.
A suggestion for the museum -- please cover the picture with UV-resistant glass and lower the lights a bit in order to conserve the art.
IMAGINE NOT HAVING RIGHTS IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY AND DYING FOR THAT COUNTRY
Well done!

Thanks

Semper fi do or die. Awesome story.😊
James's platoon leader was hit by sniper fire, james himself was cut down by machine gun fire. A little 'bit of fact checking would be nice.
