  • Yes, the Africans participated in the most horrific abuse on humans in the history of the world. Millions of humans being were captured and sold into 400 year of the cruelest and most demeaning conditions. Even today the American government sees unarmed Black men as a creature for hunting.

Whites rarely went into the interior because of lack of resistance to disease. Blacks were captured by other blacks, and then sold to the whites or Arab traders (a story we never hear) close to the coast.

This is what I loved about Roots. They took their time and developed the characters and the story lines. I distinctly remember much of this clip. There are people who will take advantage of you and your own people will lead you to them. Get your morals and values straight, realize life is sacred and do not be loyal to people just because they pretend to be your own but be loyal to the ones who are really your own by virtue.

As an African man living in the US, I believed the truth is more complicated than we have been told. Yes African kingdoms fought other rivals kingdoms and tribes and sold their people to the white invaders whose war technologies were far superior to the Africans. I believed Africans sold rivals kingdoms and tribes for money and others goods but most importantly they did it to save their own tribes and kingdoms against the whites invaders. But it didn't help since the white invaders will come back later at the end of the 19th century to occupy, divide Africans kingdoms tribes and steal the natural resources to feed the industrial revolutions. The white invaders enslaved Africans to work in mines etc...enlisted them in the army for free to fight in World War 1 & 2. it will take till the late fifties thank to the Cold War for Africans to demand and gaining their independence from the occupiers. I sincerelry regret that our flesh and blood has to suffered such in inhuman treatment in the slavery that lasted for nearly 5 centuries. And the legacy of this evil enterprise still linger and shape the social, economy and political debate. I hope this was helpful to someone.

+komlan ahianor The first whites who came to Sub-Saharan Africa were not invaders, but merchants. The invasions followed decades, generations, or even centuries later, depending on which part of Africa you're looking at. To treat African coastal merchant princes' sales of African people from the interior as an attempt to buy off invaders is to conflate several periods of Euro-African interaction.

Slavery was the basis for a world economy that all people made a profit from. Mankind is most greedy and treacherous for worldly gains. However, the transatlantic slave trade was taken to a NEW LEVEL by the European.

The slaves were brought to the coast line from the interior Africa by rivaling african tribes to be sold to the Europeans for trade. Rifles. Gold, Gin, mirrors, etc. Look up Thomas Sowell.

And the Enslavement for 700 years of Southern Europeans to the Middle East by African Muslim Moors? Was that an achievement? That is what lead to the African slave trade to the Americas just 100 years later. It’s time to ask the Middle East why they are hiding their involvement in this slavery mess. What the Southern Europeans did to the African slaves was done to themselves for 1700 years, first by the Roman Empire then the African Moors who occupied Southern Europe and slaved it for 700 years up to 1492. Everyone was enslaved and everyone enslaved including all Africans no one is innocent not even the Natives of North and South America they all did the same thing throughout history which is to enslave and have no empathy for humanity…But I guess that’s how all Empires are built.

are you fucking retarded? the Asian slave trade was 100 times greater than the European slave trade. The difference was, Asian slave trade was based on conquering and slaving, while the European slave trade was based on exchanging goods that the African slavers loved.

Had my Anglo-Saxon ancestors not been bond servants ( people in debtors prison) and shipped to America to work off their debts, I would not have been born an American citizen. My ancestors endured and persevered a tough life with working in very harsh conditions for all their lives.
