@Joseph Dainty Right but you can't make a charged shot with it. You can one shot a goliath with blind rush and take half a zealot's health with a charged headshot.
My melee abilities are : axe throw for group fights, rage of helheim because its badass, kick of tyr because... I used harpoon but wanted to try the kick and final the charge because it works well as a chain finisher like after an assassination in a group of people who become aware of you or when surrounded and needing to get to some food or a enemy avaliable to finish. The charge is probably what I use the most next to axe throw.
Main reason I like blinding rush is because you use 1 adrenaline for it, but it replenishs it right after you assassinate someone then if you have the chain you can earn another adrenaline. Also when collecting tattoos you can slow the time down or even when racing or having the retreat or get a break for a second while you back stab them! I find it it's very versatile.
The vengeance of Thor is insane. You don’t even have to charge it up if you just let go instantly it still melts the health of bosses/zealots and it kills normal enemies with one use of Vengeance of Thor.

from personal experience, I would put fire strike in s tier above poison strike the burn effect has a lot of cc and damage to it which helps with fighting enemies way above your own level. Also if your using it with fast-hitting weapons like dual daggers you can keep enemies stuck in chain cc and burn damage with the only task being to reapplying the effect to the weapon

Still running Kick of Tyr in my slot if I am fighting on a mountain, kicking down elites or bosses with it results in an instakill. You just have to slot it when it becomes useful. Just like I slot Blinding rush when I'm going stealthy as a safety net when I miss a guard and they spot me, I can trigger it and assassinate them before they alert the entire crew.
Throwing axe fury should be at the top of the list because number one it's been with you since day one and it has a awesome upgrade which does more damage.
As someone who has played like 10 hours of Valhalla because I was doing other thibns, I found harpoon thing in the starting area because I saw loot and I was like “BOOK GIVE LOOT YES” and I do not regret being a loot goblin
I know I'm late, but 2 level-Rage of Helheim with a Dualshock Controller on the PS4 lets me dish out insane amounts of damage to human(like) enemies (against animals it's rather useless) to the point it makes Dive of the Valkyries look like stroking. I just hold my index fingers straight on top of L1/R1 and wobble my arms alternating up and down to get that Neo vs. Mr. Smith Matrix fist fight effect. Doing this move may not look that elegant in real life, but lets me get rid of Goliaths and such in no time.
Kick of tyr should be higher for it's utility rather than damage output. When you kick enemies off a wall or building they often die. You can also kick shielded enemies and then stomp. It's really not hard to get exactly what you want out of it. It's my top used melee ability.
Blinding rush very situational but in the right situation it's priceless. When your in a heavily guarded base and you have 1 target. You can skip everyone. You don't have to kill everyone. Just escape, mission accomplished! less exp but much more effective.
Kick of Tyr is good, paired it with double daggers, and you go stabby stab on the downed enemy. It's satisfying, especially against enemy that wield dagger and constantly dodging your attack.
Assasinations give a full adrenaline slot wich means that if you manage to pull of at least one assasination with blinding rush the ability is essensially free
I would rank throwing axes higher than the Vdive. Simply because when enemies are staggered, you just spam r3 and stomp them for massive combined damage. You can take out 4 enemies within seconds very often. But yea I agree with pretty much the whole list, I’ve been using axes, dive, harpoon and fire since the beginning. It was a very obvious choice imo
Kick of tier is a tier, on level 2 enemies don’t get up for long, It can keep enemies down over and over and low u too just wait at theme while their on the floor, definitely best ability for taking on zealots
The rank2 Rush and Bash is really useful against elites on higher difficulty lvls and use it all the time - esp when cliff or ledge nearby as elites can be one shotted. Haven’t gotten rank2 Throwing Axe Fury yet but rank1 does very little on higher difficulty. Thought Feign Death was useless until saw what you did with rank 2 :) though that’s pretty dumb that enemies right near you would be fooled repeatedly lol. Watched all your ranking videos and been helpful so thanks.
Try to trow an enemy in a cliff with this ability. But hold the left hand button. You can jump over the enemy and fall over his body looks like surfing. The fall instakill enemy but you dont have any damage. This is my BEST ability in the Game. You can use this to stop rushing brutos against you too. And i dont know if this works with other enemies rushing to you.. Fucking awesome ability.
I love Rage of Helheim so much. My abilities rn are, the axe throwing, rush and bash, rage of Helheim, and Viking Salute(wrath of the druids DLC) Viking salute just give u a higher change to stun enemies but it also deals damage.
Kick of tyr is such a broken skill. Sometimes it can 1 hit those elites and sometimes it can only do like a small fraction of damage to them. But still pretty useful since once it hits it puts them down for a stomp.
Feign death when at low level in high level areas if you can’t get an assassination on someone. I used it a lot for getting keys to unlock doors at a low level
Kick of tyr and Rage of helhiem should be at the minimum an A tier. Kick of tyr allows you to throw an enemy on to ground and spam stomps and light attacks, it’s especially useful on high level enemies with shields like zealots or any boss. Similarly, Rage of Helhiem can easily take chunks out of high level enemies so long as you can spam the attack buttons. Both are pretty fucking strong especially on the highest difficulties.
Really like these lists and you make some good arguments for your rankings! Ofc there's always going to be some subjectivity with these things but I definitely think you're probably not using rage of Helheim correctly. You're also not the only UA-camr I've seen massively underrating this ability. Rage of Helheim is so overpowered, that it kind of ruins the game. I was able to kill every boss in the game almost singlehandedly with the RoH ability and 4 adrenaline segments. Doesn't take long to master how to use the ability but once you do, you will kill everything - it should probably be in a tier all by itself above everything else! 😂
re-acurring problem with fire damage in ubisoft games is that you actually get burned urself a lot which isnt fun. Often times you will set your surroundings ablaze unintentionally i might add. When ur still leveling up and such its horrible.
homie using kick of try wrong. its meant to interrupt attacks you normally wouldnt be able to, and then sends them out of battle at your mercy until you decide to deal with them.
Honestly, I kind of agree on the whole Kick of Tyr bit, but it is also fun to use to kick targets off of ledges or cliffs, haha. For one example, the Drangr (hopefully I spelled that right) that was shown in the video? I got right up on the edge, waited for him to rush/charge me, dodged out of the way right at the right time to where the slowed effect would kick in and slow everything down, dodged again to get right up behind him, and then used the Kick of Tyr to send him flying right off the cliff to his death. It was honestly hilarious. But I do have question about two of the abilities shown in this video. The abilities that allow you ignite your weapon with poison or fire (depending on which one you use)? Can you stack those two together to do even more damage to a target? Like, can you ignite your weapon with both the poison and the fire ability at the same time for even more damage, or would one ability override the other? It would be kind of if they do stack, just to watch your target simmer and burn with flames and poison misting off of them.
Another great Video. Unfortunately the Game itself is quite unclear about a lot of Stuff. So it's great you clarify some Things here and share your Thoughts 👍
Blinding rush is great for getting behind the harder enemies and taking out their weak points with a bow and arrow. Especially if the weak point is on there back like some zealots.
I'd say blinding rush is at least C when you use the adrenaline you get your it right back after the first assassination and you gain adrenaline with every assassination after.
The kick does so much dmg, just beat all 3 witch sisters at only 180power just using kick and harpoon over and over again. The kick instant stops any heavy attack then when they jump away harpoon them
Rush and bash is the BEST. You can jump to very high cliff with this. Hold the left hand button when you throw enemy and eivor jumps over and fall whith him looks like surfing table. Doesnt Matter are high cliffs. You dont have any damage.
I was a bit underwhelmed with the melee abilities in Valhalla. For one there's not that many of them, and a lot of the ones that are there are functionally similar. Fire and poison obviously do the same thing and just come down to personal preference. Meanwhile I find the Rush & Bash, Kick of Tyr and Harpoon all do the same thing, namely they are used to toss enemies about, albeit in different ways. Kick of Tyr is the weakest since its just knocking enemies back in a straight line. Rush & Bash lets you slam enemies into walls but you can also throw enemies off cliffs with it, so I like it since it makes you utilize the environment you're in. The Harpoon is definitely the best ability in the game imo. Its stylish, it does good damage, it allows directional input on where you fling enemies, and it basically allows for a cool 1 hit kill on regular enemies at level 2, plus it feels like the most unique ability in the game. The other abilities all felt a bit useless to me. I platinumed the game and I still don't understand how to use Blinding Rush properly, since it most certainly does not make you undetectable as the description suggests. Rage of Helheim is time consuming and doesn't actually do that much damage. Play dead is honestly too silly of a skill for me to use, and Vengeance of Thor doesn't do enough damage to justify the build up time imo; I can do the same amount of damage from landing regular attacks in the time it takes to land a Vengeance strike. I mostly used 1 handed weapons the whole game though so maybe it works better with 2 handed weapons. The throwing axes and the valkyrie dive skill are alright but yeah, with the exception of the harpoon, I felt like there weren't any standouts in the abilities in this game.
Fire and poison are only identical on the surface, but there are some differences in utility, especially factoring in certain skills, like Miasma and Battlefield cremation. Burning enemies can burn their allies, and with cremation could be used to ignite your arrows, but there's the risk of burning yourself. For whatever reason, you are immune to your own poison effect, so pairing poison weapons with Miasma can brutalize large groups without risk to yourself, although it does impair visibility, whereas fire doesn't. So yes, definitely similar mechanics, but there's enough visual and practical difference that, in my opinion, they don't feel identical in use. Never really got into the harpoon, since my focus is usually to get close enough for melee combat (while returning projectiles back at archers and the like with Catch and Throw), so I actually prefer Kick of Tyr for knocking harder enemies from high points.
@@louisbengtson166 They have different effects, but they're ultimately interchangeable - they're both a DPS buff to your weapon. Put it this way, its not worth equipping both when you only have 4 ability slots to begin with. I actually stopped using both of them since I got the rune which sets your weapons on fire on critical hits, since it saves me an ability slot as well as the adrenaline cost of activating it. I didn't use Kick of Tyr mostly because its a reskin of Spartan Kick, which was one of the most iconic abilities in Odyssey. Plus you only unlock it very late if you follow the regions chronologically. You can use the harpoon at any range and again you can control which direction you throw enemies. At an early level its really useful and satisfying to harpoon a large enemy and then fling them over a railing, off a cliff, into another enemy, into an oil barrel or wall, or to pull them closer to you. I mean you can harpoon an archer on a platform above you and pull them down which is cool. It's definitely the best ability imo, which I think is why it featured in almost every gameplay trailer for Valhalla.
@@michaeltaylor8698 Completely agree, I wouldn't equip them both simultaneously, but I would switch between them depending on context - poison for big raids with densely packed enemies, but fire for general combat in open areas. Question regarding the harpoon: I know you can pull them in or fling to either side, but can you throw them away from you? Just curious, since that seems useful but not realistic. In my case, I did a lot of early sweeping of the map for synch points, gear, and abilities, so I got most of them earlier than you would following the main quest. I liked Kick of Tyr for single, stronger opponents for the three-fold damage. Kick, Stomp, and then usually a heavy attack before they have time to stand. And for kicking them off high points. Certainly reminiscent of Spartan Kick, so I can appreciate why some might not choose it for that reason. I actually rarely used Spartan Kick since, while thematically and visually appealing, it was designed to be non-lethal, which I rarely had the need for.
@@louisbengtson166 You can throw them in any direction with the harpoon, left, right, forwards or backwards. That's why I say it can do the job of Tyr's kick and more, but I get why you like it. And I don't recall the Spartan kick being non-lethal, since most of my opponents ended up at the bottom of a mountain after I used it ;) I like to get invested in the setting with my character, so I used all of the abilities which felt the most "viking" to me, which is why I used the harpoon, throwing axes, flaming weapons over poison, and why I prefer the tackle move to the kick. If we ever get a game with the Inca or Aztecs that's when I'll use poison over fire, since it feels more thematically appropriate as some of them actually did coat their weapons in poison. For the same reason I never really used spears throughout the game because they don't feel like a viking weapon. People can talk all they want about how OP dual wield spears are in this game but I will never use them because they don't feel right to me.
@@michaeltaylor8698 Throwing them away from you with a harpoon on a rope seems counterintuitive, but I suppose it does increase the utility, so I can see why you'd like it. And yeah, fall damage still applied after Spartan Kick, but on level ground it was designed to be non-lethal so you could recruit people (since their corpses wouldn't join your crew, I guess). I don't play spears because they just aren't my thing, although they were part of normal Viking combat (and being Odin's signature weapon, probably the most fitting for Eivor, although I still prefer not to use them, except Gungnir while acting as Havi). Axes were the most common, typically middle class weapons, and swords were mainly used by wealthier Vikings (since they used more metal), so a sword is reasonably appropriate for Eivor, given her upbringing, although it likely would have been a shorter one-handed sword. And hammers. Hammers are good. Seaxes and flails felt the least Viking to me, but when in England, do as the Saxons do? I guess I feel about harpoons how you feel about the kick. Didn't feel very Viking to me, but that's just my gut feeling. I don't know for certain whether Vikings used harpoons in combat, but it felt off to me. I agree, poison doesn't feel very Viking, but like the hidden blade, it felt appropriately assassin, so I let it slide.
My first melee abilites was dive of valkyries then rush and bash those are the only melee ones i have so far and my ranged ones are mark of death and incendiary powder trap
I want to be good with Rush and Bash but I used it and ran right off a ledge. You'd thinking running straight would be easy but it isn't. Harpoon Impalement is the greatest though. Took out one boss in two hits using it. So easy.

You're video's r very helpful to me keep up the good work bro
Harpoon ability for me - SKAL my fellow Vikings ⚔️
Blinding rush is so OP; you can literally take out an in entire camp by spamming the ability running at the enemy and doing stealth assassinations
yep, its the ultimate stealth ability, crazy he put it so low, but then most of these youtubers play it not like that
What kept happening in your videos is why I don't like Fire Strike and Poison Strike - "Civilian Casualties..."
I understand why the fake death one is bad but it’s pretty funny to use
I find alot of the abilities to be just awkward to use. My favorites so far are Dive, Poison Strike and Harpoon.
The kick can be a lot more accurate if you know where you want them to go, I use it clear enemies by kicking them off drops, killing them
He said rage of helheim was pretty meh but it got me through 95% of boss fights honestly
All of my first abilities were the S tier and B tier. So useful
I love Rage of Helheim so much. My abilities rn are, the axe throwing, rush and bash, rage of Helheim, and Viking Salute(wrath of the druids DLC) Viking salute just give u a higher change to stun enemies but it also deals damage.
Dive of the valkery (sorry if I misspelled) is so good that I was able to beat a lvl 280 enemy when I was a lvl 55 and it was only a lvl 1 ability
Cap
Kick of tyr is such a broken skill. Sometimes it can 1 hit those elites and sometimes it can only do like a small fraction of damage to them. But still pretty useful since once it hits it puts them down for a stomp.
Forgot harpoon impalement was like the rope dart. That old weapon was my favourite in ac 3
Feign death when at low level in high level areas if you can’t get an assassination on someone. I used it a lot for getting keys to unlock doors at a low level
Yeah it’s good early on but there is no point of it later on.
@@jshazgaming5953 I like to troll neutral guards...
Blinding rush with the assassination adrenaline perk seems like it might be op tbh
homie using kick of try wrong. its meant to interrupt attacks you normally wouldnt be able to, and then sends them out of battle at your mercy until you decide to deal with them.
You can also use the upgraded version of dive of the valkyries to open barred doors
Another great Video. Unfortunately the Game itself is quite unclear about a lot of Stuff. So it's great you clarify some Things here and share your Thoughts 👍
I’ve obviously missed the harpoon - argh, gotta go and find it.
Great video man..thank u
if you use kick of tyr then the harpoon you can do lots of damage then use the stun finisher on bigger enemies
Harpoon impalement has the nostalgic factor of the rope dart.
Blinding rush is great for getting behind the harder enemies and taking out their weak points with a bow and arrow. Especially if the weak point is on there back like some zealots.
so true i think he missed the mark with blinding rush
I'd say blinding rush is at least C when you use the adrenaline you get your it right back after the first assassination and you gain adrenaline with every assassination after.
The kick does so much dmg, just beat all 3 witch sisters at only 180power just using kick and harpoon over and over again. The kick instant stops any heavy attack then when they jump away harpoon them
Rush and bash and kick of tyr can both send an enemy flying over a cliff. But I still use the kick because it reminds of kick of sparta.
Rush and bash is the BEST. You can jump to very high cliff with this. Hold the left hand button when you throw enemy and eivor jumps over and fall whith him looks like surfing table. Doesnt Matter are high cliffs. You dont have any damage.
Dive of Valkyries level 1: Guud Level 2: YES
I just used throwing axe fury coz that’s the 1st one I got and it was very good
I was a bit underwhelmed with the melee abilities in Valhalla.
And I don't recall the Spartan kick being non-lethal, since most of my opponents ended up at the bottom of a mountain after I used it ;)
I like to get invested in the setting with my character, so I used all of the abilities which felt the most "viking" to me, which is why I used the harpoon, throwing axes, flaming weapons over poison, and why I prefer the tackle move to the kick.
If you quick on your feet, after you use kick of tyr you can stomp your enemy,
Twice, Stomp him, hit him with about 2 light atacks, then spam stomp button
Idk what u mean rage of helheim is c tier u gotta like mash the buttons as fast as u can to do actual damage it’s atleast at the top in my opinion
Rage is super OP if you use it the right way
I think the rush and bash and wolf are my favorite abilities to use
Waiting for the sheilds
My first melee abilites was dive of valkyries then rush and bash those are the only melee ones i have so far and my ranged ones are mark of death and incendiary powder trap
Harpoon is great for zealots or for throwing enemies off walls or cliffs. Insanely good and can speed up fights.
Overall best
I want to be good with Rush and Bash but I used it and ran right off a ledge. You'd thinking running straight would be easy but it isn't. Harpoon Impalement is the greatest though. Took out one boss in two hits using it. So easy.
Rush and bash will knock the most enemies on their butt lining up absolutely devastating hits
