See him in “Call Me By Your Name,” if you can. It’s the film that made him famous. He has one no dialog scene, all by himself, in front of a fireplace, that is difficult not to cry along with him. It was Oscar caliber stuff. He’s done good roles, but this role is still his best by far. It encapsulates the heartache of young love unlike any film before. (And on a side note, his character’s father gives a consoling talk to him that all parents should watch, showing their kids unconditional love, while also giving them the space to learn & grow,… & get hurt)
I second seeing "Call Me By Your Name." I also recommend "Miss Stevens" where he performs a scene from Death of a Salesman that will make your jaw drop. Other good ones: Lady Bird, Beautiful Boy, and a really sweet supporting role in "Don't Look Up."
