I discovered Steve on 1978, when i heared "wonderous stories" for the very first Time, when i was a child and did not understand english language Then, in 1982 Asia arrived, and i was a teenager... The circle was completed He Is my favorite musician, ever Kind regards from México
Yeah, he was voted best guitarist by Guitar Player five years in a row. But great guitarists are not always the best musicians. The best musicians tend to play what’s best for the song. Yes was a crowded house, but Steve despite “Progressive Rock” label rarely played solos etc. that didn’t fulfill some role in a song. Sadly the vibes and openness of the 60’s and 70’s has receded in the background. There was no Steve Howe before Steve Howe, and I haven’t heard anyone come even close to his best accomplishments. And he still plays great ! Technique and imagination unsurpassed.
That was cool! It's almost 3 o'clock in the morning and I want to clap at the end of the chat... just like I would normally at the end of a real session! What nice chaps, and great to hear Professor Zoe being mentioned too! ;) X
Absolute master of the guitar, complete wizard of his craft. When everybody’s influences were being derived from blues in the 60’s, this guy was whipping out country, jazz, classical, folk, and, he can shred his ass off with the best of them. A master of these styles no less, big difference between him and guys that can mess around with some jazzy chords or play a few chicken pickin licks…. One of my absolute biggest inspirations as a guitarist and musician, John McLaughlin and Robert Fripp too. These guys motivated me to want to become an accomplished player and put in the time to play at a high level. For this, I owe them everything! Thanks for the awesome interview!
Fragile and Zep ll changed my world as a kid. Love Steve. So underrated as a guitarist. Not commonly name checked which is sad. He should be. But, he does seem to like dissing on the Zep. lol
Here is a guy who wants to tell you about himself as a guitarist ...this book may be more directed to his folliwers who are musicians or guitar aficionados.....if you want to hear about the life of a rock star who went to wild parties and destroyed hotel rooms, you will have to read about Led Zeppelin or the Who for example. Steve Howe stands out as a musician's musician.....the gallery of the greats.....that means that 90% of your life is spent practicing your instrument and fine tuning your craft. It meant a highly disciplined man who was watching his diet....to be a vegan ...meant that he was taking excellent care of himself to be on the top of his game like an olympic athlete...Hendrix fans I say this with respect ..Steve Howe could run circles around Hendrix.... That's my opinion and I welcome yours..

I Can understand that, very tasty player and great Guy who's really into his music
Don in the middle
Steve unfortunately has become a milder Richie Blackmore type ,especially concerning Yes.
What a wonderful conversation! Thank you so much. Steve is my all-time favorite musician

Classical gas was my all time favorite instrumental (Mason Williams) until I heard "Mood For A Day"
Self taught plays by ear, doesn't need to read music
OUR HERO!!! Glad he’s still playing! He’s always so humble- going to get this book today!
Thank you for posting!
