Besides the cleanliness of the singing (which is jaw-dropping on its own) the blend is just ridiculous... how could you dislike these guys? That’s pure Barbershop sung by one of the greatest quartets ever
Wow thanks so much!
I’ve always loved barbershop quartets, and my uncle Bob shared this amazing group with me. We used to LOVE singing and listening. It was hard to listen to after he passed away. But time makes the pain less, and now my sweet two year old Bobby (who LOVES music and singing as much as his namesake is over the moon listening to this group!
The Gas House Gang, yes indeedy! A good friend of mine, Noah, really idolized you, Kipp (not that he stopped lol) and I'm sure he still uses you to this day as the benchmark for perfect tenors. In fact, I think Noah met you guys on an occasion or two and busted a gut on some tunes. 😁
The answer to your question of "how could you dislike these guys" is envy.
V
2:31. Love that emphasized tenor drop. So cool.......
Then the bass does it. Oooooh.
In my opinion, the best quartet EVER. Thank you!
This is pure
Those chords going off sound just like fireworks, an explosion of sound! We wore this CD out on family rides. Probably the only quartet my daughters truly loved.
I sang this song, "Shine" with The Minneapolis Commodores a few years ago. The Gas House Gang really brings it to it's glory!
That's DAMN FINE Barbershop.
My favorite GHG song ever. So glad BHS was able to share this performance with us.
This is fantastic! First time I've bothered to really check out barbershop - and turns out it's great. Thanks for posting.
I've only been into barbershop properly for a couple of years and I keep seeing GHG come up but haven't given them much time of day due to obsessing over the Instant Classic and Ringmaster types, but holy F. This is ridiculous! So good!!!!!!
Ringmasters and Instant Classic are great, but this is GHG. This the /the/ quartet. Probably the most influential and inspiring barbershop quartets there has ever been.
@@zackarysemancik5491 THIS
@@zackarysemancik5491 Wow that is very nice to say! Thank you Zackary
@@kippb (I made the original comment) I know you from Old School! (as opposed to GHG) There are dozens of us!
I'm just getting here myself, I'm just SO late to the game!
So glad to see more Gas House Gang - really got into them after "Bright Was the Night" was posted in here, as that was the first time I had ever heard of them.
Same:)
Your chords ring true... Definitely.
0:45
exelente harmonia
Check out the final chord (3:27). The overtone coming off of Rich’s fifth is DEAFENING. It’s almost louder than what he’s actually singing. 😅 AMAZING!
Rest in peace to a PHENOMENAL baritone
Epic
Kipp got game!
Beautiful!
PS: the stereo panning is inverted (left / right are swapped).
I keep replaying on 3:12 (Rob is one of the greatest Baritones)
Oh, Dr. Jim Henry looks so young. Haha
And thin
Jim looks young. Kipp looks like a teenager and he already had a gold quartet medal.
... my mind is blow. I always thought moustache guy was the bass!
👍👍👍
The 2nd half to the greatest 2nd place set in BHS history!
Wow. This came 2nd! I just looekd it up, 1992 Keepsake and Gas House Gang, what a year!
Lemon Squeezy in 2016 are also in contention for that title though.
WOW......such a long time ago lol
Dude, you freaking crushed that
I show this performance to my students every year. They are always astounded.
