    I NEVER leave comments but I felt the need to do so today. I absolutely adore your channel. You're not like everyone else on UA-cam that just shows us how well you can apply makeup. You're channel is so diverse and informative. You are always giving such great advice and as a newbie to the makeup world I REALLY appreciate it. I know sometimes ppl can be so discouraging but I wanted to just share that with you. Keep up the great work! 👏🏾😘

    You are a breath of fresh air... professional, knowledgeable, beautiful, and just incredibly nice! No drama, just great videos! Thank you so much. I would love a video on drugstore setting sprays. I have very "normal" skin and now that I am in my 50's I don't create oil in my t-zone. Ladies, there IS something to look forward to as you age! AND, if you have oily skin to start of with, you will have prettier skin as you age!

    It irritates me so much when people especially youtubers, use the Mac fix + and say it's going to help with longevity and setting your makeup in place 🙈 you can't imagine how many people don't know what exactly it is

    Oh my gosh, it's sad to say that I am one of those people that used the mac fix plus as a setting spray! The SA at mac told me that it would make my makeup look refreshed and stay put. Refreshed, yes, but makeup doesn't last, felt oily. I am not super oily, but towards the end of the day I do get shine due to having to wear a full coverage foundation that builds to hide scars. Thank you so much for the videos, a lot of UA-cam artists just do "looks" now and don't do much on technique and info on makeup, and you are one that includes those types of videos that I love watching. So, thank you again.

    I have combination skin and it's really textured, so I use two different setting sprays, my favourites are mac fix+ to melt the make up into my face and blend all my powders and then use the Gerard cosmetics stay all day on top to help my make up last longer

    • @nikkiajoy
      @nikkiajoy  7 років тому +9

      Hi Georgia! If that works for you thats great! I personally can't use the Fix + after my makeup even n combination with another setting spray as I'm way too oily :P

    I love your channel. I suffer from foundation staying on my nose. I use all your hacks. I especially use Mac paint pot and was using Mac studio fix foundation. It stopped working. Started using nyx can't stop won't stop. It is working. I just tried model in a bottle and does wonders. I found model in a bottle in sensitive skin. I absolutely love it. Thank you. Model in a bottle for sensitive skin stings a little also.

    I have recently become a subscriber and wanted to thank you for these videos. I am a 46 year old woman who didn't have to wear makeup for most of my life. The last year I have had several comments about how I'm suddenly looking old. (RUDE! LOL, but sadly true) I have developed brown melasma spots and some obvious wrinkles around my eyes, etc. Ugh. I decided I would try makeup and realized my makeup was ancient and that I had NO CLUE about all this new stuff. I am a caregiver for a spinal cord injury husband and I work from home, so my budget is tight and my shopping time is nil. These videos have helped me SO MUCH in picking out affordable choices and deciding what I need to build up in my collection. Shopping online is a bit tricky as colors are so hard to judge but hopefully I have some good picks on the way. We shall see. I will be watching some of your how-to videos again once my selections arrive. Even though you mostly concentrate on young skin, your basic techniques seem sound for everyone and I appreciate when you throw in comments for more mature skin as you do your applications. Anyway, just wanted to say thank you and let you know how much help you have been to me in navigating this makeup selection thing :)

    lol so funny that you would mention the mac prep and prime! before i got into makeup, i swear i walked up to a mac makeup artist and i asked her if I could use that as a setting spray and she was like NAH HUNNY NAH!! i appreciated her honesty lol but it feels so nice on the skin especially if you dont want your makeup to look textured and like a cakey mess! alright, going to go watch the rest of the video now :P

I was very disappointed but I'm so glad that it was mentioned in this video as a NO when it comes to setting your make up !!! I completely agree ! I have other "refreshing" sprays that aren't anywhere near the price point for this product ! Definitely didn't live up to what I purchased it for.

    I have an oily to combo skin and a setting spray from Gerard Cosmetics spray wasn't bad but unfortunately not the best. The first place goes to Skindinavia Oil Control one since it performed best for me and held my makeup for the longest time!

    So if I'm getting the order of application correct then it's... Setting Spray, Primer, Powder, and then Foundation? I kno you did a video about helping control oils and 1 trick was powder before foundation! Please help cuz I can get confused! Thanks Nikkia! 😊

    • @nikkiajoy
      @nikkiajoy  7 років тому +121

      Hi Jasmine! Yes doing it in that order is the best way to keep your foundation as oil free as possible! You need to powder twice though so I've listed it below again - let me know if you have any other questions!!
      1. Setting Spray
      2. Primer
      3. Dust VERY lightly with translucent powder
      4. Foundation (you can set with a setting spray after this step too for extra staying power!)
      5. Concealer
      6. Powder as you normally would
      7. Setting Spray
      Nikkia :) x

    can you make an educational series ? where you make the most oil proof routine for TRULY LONG LASTING makeup wear and incidentally the "tips" you've given in the past and put them together in the order they should be done and why.. regardless of if you do them all together or not.. jus so that way we can see it all and take out a step or two or whatever to tweak it for our own needs ? pleaseeee pretty pleaseeee also the educational part like this where you talk about certain products that are usually used in a multitude of ways through UA-cam bc a lot of times it can be confusing and maybe ill watch one that says you can use this like this but then another one might be like noooo and have a legit reason why and I'll forget and won't really remember ..ty in advance if you even consider this

    This video just changed my life for the better haha. I always used my 'UD All Nighter' to wet my makeup brushes if I was doing a really intense look, and have always been so confused as to why my eyes would be so irritated. It would ruin my entire makeup look as they'd tear up crazily. I even stopped using a certain palette thinking that was the cause. So thank you! x

      Mendy Oyarvide I'm having the same problem so far the only relief I've found is to use the Rimmel Matte primer then setting spray before going in with covergirl 3-in-1 foundation (this one is the ONLY one that didn't instantly slide off my nose) then finish with powder and more setting spray. I get about 2-4 hours of wear before my nose goes strawberry..I know this isn't a prefect fix but it's the best I've come up with to date....

      Mendy Oyarvide I also had this problem. I use the most intense primers I have just for my nose. These include the Becca and my MAC eyeshadow primer in painterly (suggestion from Nikkia) and another helpful thing that works is baking just the nose after your foundation and concealer.

    I love the atmosphere of your videos your friendly personality and your honesty of all the products you use! It helps so much for me with my oily skin, but more importantly to not waste my time and money on trying products that will not work for my oily skin. I can't afford to try out products but since finding you and your channel on UA-cam and Instagram has been worth my time and money!!! Thank you for having fun putting up the videos of the new products, and tips of how to put on makeup, because I love art but putting on makeup is an artistry that I have learned from you to be patience! I've learn makeup for oily skin need TIME!
    I've used your morning routine for waiting 20 minutes after you finish with the moisturizers then apply makeup. My face has not felt dry everything under my cheekbones nor as oily as above my cheekbones! Silly I know but it helps!!!
    Do you have any tips for lips and or what products to use?!? Such as LipSceneLa products? I get chapped lips towards the middle of the day and applying more lipstick lipgloss or chapstick seems as if not doing the trick because I still get the curled skin on my lips.
    Thanks again for all of your hard work and keep up the Great work you do!!!!

    Mac Fix + is perfect to get rid of cakey makeup. It has a bonding agent which is why it works to intensify shadows and if you spray it on your brush and then stick it into your eyeshadow you'll bond the eyeshadow in the pan. It helps change the finish of your makeup but not set.

    So my concealer always creases in a certain set of wrinkles right under my eyes and I was recommended to use MAC Fix + and a beauty blender in the area after applying my concealer and I noticed that this did not stop the creasing whatsoever. And now I know why. I am going to try the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray and I am thinking that may do the trick. Thank you SO much for this video!!
