Since power chords only have two notes, not three, they can be used for both major and minor chords. The tuning of the CBG uses a high G, a D, and a low G. Adding a third note can make them fully major or minor.

Hey Shane .. do you think the slide kind of CBG is the easiest to play and build?! I did a bunch of CBGs but not many of them sounded good.. The one you're playing it seems to me a good one for a beginner.. What is the string height action like in this one? I mean the best action possible to play like you're doing a slide guitar with sharpie frets what's the ratio of the action. I will build a new neck like yours .. straight with no scarf joint but with a good placed zero fret and down pull of the string with a similar regulator like you did just before the zero fret .. Thank you if you will reply to me.. Take care from italy .. i showed to you my CBGs in my google photos album ..if you can recall ... Hi Buddy it's always a pleasure ..

Shane, thank you for this GOOD video. I say good because I have watched A LOT of 'beginner CBG videos' and I have issue with most of them...including yours. This is what I mean...anybody posting a 'beginner CBG video' can SAY their CBG is tuned to "G", but most don't really explain what that means, they pluck the strings and say G-D-G....so what. they take for granted viewers know what strings they should use to make that happen. In reality, they don't. So, what string gauge do you use to obtain a "G" tuning? What 3 strings from a 'regular guitar would make this happen? If you take the 3 bottom strings you couldn't tune them to G_D_G, could you? Would you break strings???? (this should be a YOU TUBE REQUIREMENT for 'beginner CBG videos' of this sort.) See what I mean???? So, that is my 2 cents worth. Just an observation... Thanks again. The videos you share are worthwhile and I hope you are able to continue to share them with your fans!!! Stay healthy. Peace out!!

Get a chromatic tuner app, one that will let you see the actual Hz. Low G is 98 Hz, D is 146.8 or 147 Hz (147 works just fine), and High G is 196 Hz. It took me some digging to figure it out at first.
