Lol I literally watched this last night while I went to sleep. (So didn't really watch it) But today when I opened YT I saw a "Bearded Rosen" and literally said out loud "I'll watch this one cuz Eric looks good with a beard!" Haha
Two of the three opponents in this episode got banned for fair play. It was a good run, I was surprised at how infrequently Eric ran into Stockfish until now, but sadly I think it's time to start a new run before these encounters kill all the enthusiasm.
Last guy was very obvious. The complexity of the opening and the speed they played super solid moves was ridiculous and then the resources during the end game where it looked like there were available tactics was way too convenient to be coincidental. Didn’t help that it took them a few seconds to decide on the difficult move of promoting to queen!
If you want to see something interesting, go to Episode one. Eric looks like a game character who begins at level 1, and ends at level 80 with his beard, conquering all the castles
Not for me. The knight on e8 was kind of threatening the bishop on f6, because if black instead plays Rxd7 to get rid of the dangerous past pawn, white takes the bishop on f6 with the knight on e8, making use of the pin.
@@DrRodox.he was cheating. Account banned. That’s an unfair loss to Eric. I personally would not have rematched I rarely rematch now because I feel most people cheat the second time around because the moves they be doing are wild.
Thanks Eric. I bungled this line earlier today with the white pieces. I didn't stop pawn H5. I feel like you're explanations are memorable enough that I won't mess that up in the future. Lol, Happy Thanksgiving.
Nah, Eric wasn't playing well, f5 instead of Nf6 after taking the black squared bishop feels really weird, you push a not yet passed pawn who was protected and now isn't instead of getting your extra piece back toward the center of the board just for an obvious trap easily avoidable... Even at 1800 elo it would be considered poor play. He said it was very late during the video, he just was too tired, wasn't able to think properly to convert the endgame and got outplayed, that's it.
@51:18, I like Rb7+ Kxb7, Nd6+ with a fork on the King and Rook. But I didn't look any further. I just love playing into those forks. Happy Thanksgiving Eric!

Hey there Eric! At 4:11, you worry about the prospect of knight f5, and when you play knight f6 there’s queen f6. Could you have played Qxf8 desperado and gone into an end game up an exchange by taking the black queen after opponent king takes your queen?
TBF, Stockfish had a handicap: a not so decent human being had to see the suggested move and play it out on another screen. This is a serious time disadvantage for the usual fish
Yeah i analyzed it with stockfish and he suddenly started to finding all the best moves immediately in a losing position! After he got the queen he took over and did the rest... Interessting 🤔
That last guy ahd to be cheating right? He used the same time every move and themoves seemed so weird, even the end game he took time on super simple moves
@@ohk3770 He may or may not have cheated, but he did not use the same amount of time since the bishop loss. He also insta played take backs, which speaks human. 53 QxR was obvious and he did the obvious thing of 0.1 second for example. Engine users often play it with 3 second think for no reason.
Eric I started watching through some of your old videos again, and this isn’t at all necessary, but maybe consider for the next speed run instead of using episode numbers, using the rating you were at when you started and ended the episode. That would make it much easier to go through the episodes and to look at games for a specific skill level
Not related to this video, but the ad. im sorry but how many books is this Steven giving away and why is has it been THIS Sunday for the past 27 years.
I'm not really sure the last guy is cheating. Judging at 70% likelihood legit, 30% discrete cheating with conscious human filter, 0% just reading moves/letting engine play directly. I see that his account is moderately new and has a very high winning record. That does suggest suspicious. But if someone is really high rated like a GM who plays only OTB and just joins online anew, wouldn't they get this record? His previous games were high but not insane accuracies. If he's cheating, he's discrete. He plays weird openings and that's normal from a non-chess power house country person. Because of that, they usually are better "pure chess players" than their rating. He did "turn it on" at the end, but that's only when Eric had 38 seconds left, so quality of moves from him were not optimal. They guy made two choices that were very human. After decisive fork when Q vs R+N, he took the rook insta. Engine users take 3 seconds for obvious moves. He also played QxN near the end. While could be one of the top moves, engines often not make such practical choices. Also many claimed he moved the same intervals of time in the final bunch of moves. That's totally not true. Some were 0.1s some were 10s.
You handle the losses graciously, regardless of your opponents' true merit, and still provide instructive lessons, and that's why you're the best
Wow, Eric drew against stockfish!
To be able to draw against stockfish is such a flex tbh.
Fr, I didnt know that was possible, but I guess the cheater used a weak engine, or he picked some bad lines
Stalemate trick when opponent was in time-scramble.
97% accuracy should be standart procedure for both of them, no doubt

That last opponent was almost certainly cheating. Account only a month or so old, only played 50 games, really regular time usage.

50:14 That bishop taking pawn at second rank in lightspeed mode was suuuper weird.
Not for me. The knight on e8 was kind of threatening the bishop on f6, because if black instead plays Rxd7 to get rid of the dangerous past pawn, white takes the bishop on f6 with the knight on e8, making use of the pin.
In the game, black was able to at least get an important pawn for the bishop, instead of losing the bishop for less compensation.
@fridolfwalter2256 I understand that a player can find that. The question is: instanteanously?
