You’ve got it worked out pretty good. With adjustable hitches on both tethers. I like 2TC also but it’s so much easier to hitch climb, set your rope with a retrievable hitch with a pole at 20-25 feet or even higher, climb on your rope with SRT using a foot loop on an adjustable ascender hitch, your bridge on an adjustable ascender hitch, set your platform, hunt, rappel on your bridge hitch and munter, footloop ascender just floats down below the munter. Super easy and versatile. Pole is great as a walking stick, snake stick, pruning pole, and of course setting or retrieving the rope. Once down just yank the retrieve cord and hitch releases and falls.

If you like climbing like that (srt with a pole). You'll love the S.M.A.R.T. method. It's basically the same thing except with 2 smaller poles (that fold up small to go in your pack or pocket) to quietly push up the rope with a mechanical advantage. Watch One Stixing like a BOSS

Leg loop on your right thigh helps put tension on the top tether gives a smoother transition as you sit into your saddle, I can see how that would help you especially coming down. Been using Two tether a while now myself, your grigri or whatever works nice, I’m using friction hitches JRB ascender hitch

I've been using the same climbing method myself since last year now (since my beginning with saddlehunting; inspired by the youtube videos of Scott Adkins and Jerry Grose). Only for the footsling I use a 2" seatbelt webbing sewn in a loop for less pressure at the bottom of my foot. I just now thinking about using a longer tetherline (like the one the one-stickers are using) for a quicker descent from the tree.

Thank you for the video. I have been using DRT for archery hunting and it is way to loud getting off the ground. Can you do this without breaking a sweat? Have you done it with a prusik or shwabisch hitch? Any videos on how you set this system up?

I use a versa strap around tree with aider handles with a carabiner holding up a 5 step aider. One tether rope.

    2 questions:
    1) I currently use the ropeman 1 but haven't messed with the kong yet. I see you like it on the foot tether but prefer the kong on the reg tether. Why?
    2) You got handles on the foot tether or only find them necessary on the main tether?

Have you tried using a linemans belt with this so you don't have to wrap your leg around the tree?
    I may try this out.
I'm currently using SRT wherever it's possible and 1 sticking where it is not.
I'm using paracord presets for any repeat climbs.
I may experiment to add this to my toolkit thought.

I plan to show just that. Using a linesman and a pair of foot loops while I push my climbing line up about 8 feet above my head on the trunk. Watch One Stixing like a BOSS. I do it with a one stick but 2tc video is coming soon.

Do you have handles on both tethers?

Thanks for watching my video! It is my Aboreal tree saddle. In my opinion it offers more comfort than a traditional single panel saddle design. I'm still in the beginning phase of getting this saddle released.

    I have a few questions.
    1. How long are your ropes for both tethers?
    2. How large in diameter of trees are you comfortable climbing with this method?
    3. The handles you speak of can’t really be seen in the video, so, what are you using for handles, and do you have them on both of your tethers?

i start with 15 foot sections of before knots for this method... ill climb trees from 8 inches to about 30 inches in diameter but around 15 to 20 is ideal, as they are easier to grab around but still offer a slightly flatter face to put my foot against ... lastly i run handles that are really just long tag ends on both pieces to aid in removal of tension and help minimize the amount of time my hands are under the tethers.

Ok bud got a problem with my setup which is basically like yours,,I am so dam boldlegged and sloughfooted,,that the strap or rope,,cause I have tried a 2inch strap for the 1 foot method and a 8 mil rope crows footed with the 2 foot method,,and both ways whatever I use ,it put so much pressure to the outside of my foot,,so I have a couple horse saddle that are not used,,what do you think about actually using one of the stirrups,,or maybe incorporate a board,,dude I don’t get 8 foot off the ground and I am already dreding coming down,,any thoughts or do you have any friends that has done anything different

I’m not familiar with tether handles? Is it a type of knot you put in the rope or something you attach to the tether?

    • @glennflake5732
      @glennflake5732 Рік тому

BTW, I also climb with my tether, but I use a versa strap around the tree with a carabiner attached to it and a 4 step aider. I agree tether handles would help especially with gloves.

    • @arboreal2783

I usually have my linesman belt tied into my left loop. Hook up to that, unscrew delta link to move my tether above branch. I dont do anything else until my tether is hooked back up to the tree. I then remove the footloop from ropeman carabiner, move rope up. Hook back in, repeat for next branch.
