  • In this series, we run through the steps we use to tune a Japanese Plane.
    In Step 1 we flatten the back of the plane's main blade on a kanaban, unlocking it's edge's full potential and allowing it to mate properly to a chipbreaker down the track.

    frankly, sharpening plane blades is intimidating even after 2 years of attempting to properly tune kannas both new and old.

    Really good stuff but I would like to see a very good close-up of the matt finish than the polished finish.

    I thought you were about to slice your hand off @ 2:00!! My jaw dropped for a good ten second lol! Love the videos though!
