- DESCRIPTION: We interview a young musician. He explains the history behind Eazy Street Krew (considered a gang by APD's gang unit). Born and raised in New Mexico, he briefly gives us the history on Duke City's Wurce 1-a beloved New Mexican rapper brutally murdered in the 2000's.

I moved from Las Cruces to Albuquerque my junior year in high school and was a new kid at ABQ High and I had classes with the main interviewee. Its been 8 years or so but i remember he invited me to eat pizza with him and his friends at lunch out on the field. I didnt have many friends and he was always chill with me. Hope he stays safe - also he was good at rapping back then hes getting really good

Originally from KCMO, but I grew up in Burque from 4-16 years old and yes it’s definitely fast living out there. Growing up in the south valley/westgate was tough at times with so many gangs/drugs in the area but I’m very grateful for all those day one friends, memories, experiences and lessons!
Wurce 1 is definitely my top underground rap legend in Abq. But, he was taken from us to soon unfortunately and I still have his Wurcer then Wurce album! 🔥 Definitely remember and miss those RawMuzik days, taking the bus all around town.
Everybody from the West that was rapping in the early 2000s was tough!

I grew up in santa fe my whole life and i grew up in a messed up crowd, i was on juvenile probation for 6 years.. but i am now a successful entrepreneur. Im only 23 now. but id love to share my story and tell my story of being in YDDC when i was 17 turned 18. I wanna show everyone how messed up the system is! there was no helping anyone before its too late. we need more education and more recourses for the youth, THANK YOU for reading my comment.

I like watching these videos, a lot of ppl don't realize how life is here in Albuq. Ppl hate on homie cuz he said he knows the youngsters like to hear it, but even if he rapped about inspiration, loving ur mom or going to church & respecting ppl these kids & young adults will still go & turn on the jams they like so let's not hate on what's being rapped or sang we all gotta eat! We all gotta make that $ some how. Young ppl will always b influenced differently but here in Albuq it is different. I used to run around with ppl I shouldn't have, selling bud, selling things or ppl, thing's a young girl shouldn't have leaned b4 18. But now I'm a mom of 2 & I know my kids wont be wandering the streets bored at a young age like me & my kids will have a better future. It's all about what u believe in & what direction we point ourselves to. Most ppl don't hear the real stories of these streets so keep up the good work. My brother Daniel Gardner was a underground rapper. He moved to Albuquerque 5 years ago and was shot and killed in a drive by while waiting at the bus stop off Central And Pennsylvania last august... He died a month later from his injuries... So I know Albuquerque is a very dangerous place... and these guys are the only ones letting us see it how it truly is.

Drugs, gangs, bad homelife, no one to turn to, no one cares...but your homies...and most-often, your homies are outnumbered by other groups. Had a great friend in high school, long ago, and he had a little brother that always wanted to tag along. Tried to be tough, be macho, be cool. At 18, he found himself a girl...she was 15...good for him, but the numbers were against him. All was well, girl's mother let him 'stay over' all the time...until they broke up, went vengeful and the mother pressed charges for 'statutory rape'...175 counts of it. Sentenced to 142-years, 139 of those knocked down, he went to the big house for 3 of them. 18, far more innocent and unaware than 'more-urban kids', he didn't have a clue what he walked into.
By day 3 of his 3-year stint, he had the Aryans on him, Crips, MS, and a dozen others pushing. He told me this years later. He said, 'I figured I was dead by the weekend...and neither my brother or you were there to tell me what to do...' I asked him, 'well...what did you do...you're still here?' He raised his shirt...giant eagle on his chest...I didn't get it. He said 'the Mexikanemi took me in, and that was the end of that...except with them'.
We had a long talk, and he explained a lot to me about how 'prison really worked'. While he admired my Marine Corps service, I told him that I admired his ability to 'think through his own survival', when no other was there to help. He asked me, 'did I do the right thing? What would you have done?' I told him...'I would have survived...you survived, so you understand'.
That's where we leave the young, when we turn our backs on them...most are great kids put in terrible situations, and no one to 'give them advice' otherwise...
