Just a small theory, since quintessa was a prime, she figured out earth was Unicron and the other primes didn't know, that explains why all the primes still wanted to protect earth. But quintessa had a plan to rule cybertron, so she only told the most powerful prime, the fallen. that triggered the fallen to be so determined to Destroy earth, but the other primes didnt know and That's why the battle over the matrix happened, that resulted in the other 11 primes death to guard the matrix and the fallen to be weakened, on the nemesis. So quintessa was the only prime with all powers left. ( just some proof, during rotf the fallen always said he was betrayed by his brothers, not once did he say quintessa, the one who told the fallen about earth's secret. also the fallen said only a prime can defeat him, quintessa is a prime but she is weak compared to the fallen, the fallen is taller than megatron, quintessa is half the size of optimus, the fallen also has more abilities, thats why quintessa told the fallen instead of any other prime, he is the strongest.) But that plan failed with the fallen, so quintessa went to plan B sentinel prime, but that is another theory.
gooey mac n, cheese a perfect theory, but the writers room for transformers have the collective iq of 60 as you have seen in the hideous abomination called the last knight, they would never go that deep into transformers lore. It's a shame ehren Kruger didn't continue his work then we actually would have had a great AOE sequel, I once brainstormed for theories so much before the last knight but they didn't explain how Galvatron became megatron, neither did they explain how barricade was well alive after Chicago having seen his leg blown off and eye shot out, so there you have it the "transformers cinematic universe" potential will never truly be shown as a result of the writers who spend too much time thinking about product placement cash in opportunities or who the next girl would be, sorry for ranting too much but just like you I'm a long time transformers fan and it's shame for the franchise to end up this way.
Mustaf Mohamed Quintessa was probably the one who turned Galvatron into Megatron.If you look at his face in the fifth movie,he has the same red scar as the one Quintessa inflicted on Optimus.

Always fascinates me how much music impacts the films! Imagine if the GOT showrunners didn't screw up the final season, this playing as Jon Snow fought the Night King! Would've been so awesome!
Tbh this sound track... Nothin but Pure fire. The film has better action than bumble bee movie. The only issue is the writing. They need to fix a few scenes and remove a few things that stray to far from transformers. But its just my opinion. I do love the film though.
This movie, though it has good action, is still terrible. It has horrible characters with barely any development, and when there is it amounts to nothing because this film doesn't even have a solid theme or moral. If you want me to tell you the best and most solid live action Transformers films, they'd be 1, 3, and Bumblebee. 1 and Bumble actually have characters, Sam isn't horrible in 1, Charlie is a great female protagonist with a solid backstory and motivations, and the Transformers in those films have personalities, Prime is actually a kind hearted leader 100% unlike the 50/50 in other films and the bad guys though not deep have memorable personalities and moments. And for 3, though it has some down right cringe-worthy scenes, the final act is an absolute blast with Sentinel actually being a sizeable threat with an understandable moral.
That's crazy. So Megatron got to fight alongside his icon..if we were to take into account how he came to bring about his name from the Transformers: Prime series.
