The magical thing about the pursuits in this game was the transition between each moment of the pursuit with the music. When you were blocked off and trying desperately to push yourself out, the percussion would be ringing out as the red bar for BUSTED rose up. When the condition of the pursuit rose, the tense sound of the music began to change too, as if it was making you feel like regretting that little thing that you did to deserve this whole pursuit, almost like action film-grade soundtrack. It's what NFS games have been missing ever since the OG Most Wanted.

This was about the era where we started to get really good dynamic and context specific music in games which was a serious impact to how enjoyable the games were, and NFSMW was one of the better examples of this. No racing/chase music has come close to NFSMW since, and that was about 14 years ago which just shows how perfectly they nailed this.

CrownVics&V8s It's especially impressive that the pursuit music in this game is dynamic. When you're in a stalemate where you aren't pulling ahead and the cops can't close in, it stays fast and semi-intense. As you put more distance between yourself and the 5-0, the heavier instruments clear up for a less intense, more "heroic" or "hopeful" guitar and strings. But if you fuck up and plant your bumper into a wall, the soundtrack SERIOUSLY cranks up the heat as the law closes in from all sides. Dirty electric guitars, aggressive synth stingers, and in-your-face drums and percussion. Payback has its merits -- I'm enjoying it so far -- but nothing will ever beat the Holy Trinity: Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon.

You can FEEL when the driver switches down a side lane an looses their direct eyes for a moment through the music. You HEAR it pick back up when they spot you again. THIS IS THE PART WHEN OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN😭
11:10 - while speeding along, FAST.
Pursuits in Most Wanted and Carbon were truly glorious and intense.
They were even more fun than races. And if a race included a pursuit, it became even better.
The music is dynamic and intense, but they also nailed the radio chatter. It truly feels like a simulation of a real pursuit.
Modders: ua-cam.com/video/oD5uVdEABCM/v-deo.html
Don't forget Rivals, the pursuit theme is scary as hell, especially those cops driving hypercars catching up to you
@21:50 = Absolute goosebumps/Time to show what I really am
"Attention, Attention all Units! Status elevated on chase to Condition 10! This is not a drill! we are at CONDITION 10!"
This soundtrack made you feel like there were actual real world consequences for getting caught. So intense.
"Suspect is in a silver BMW"
alex bartha Speeds above posted limit and increasing. We’re currently heading Northbound, on North Bay Road. Dispatch I’m gonna need some help I don’t think I can bring this guy in on my own.
“Suspect is in a red Subaru” (Baby Driver noises)
apsolutely beautiful. What the devs did here is a masterpiece 11/10
To this day I love how the police radio sounds so believable and flows so well. It doesn't sound like you're heading the same thing every few seconds. Even future Need For Speed games had worse police radios and didn't sound anywhere as believable as this.
This game had the most intense pursuits XD
This is so nostalgic !! Wow !
NFS MW was way ahead of it's time.
Am I the only one almost crying from the adrenaline this gives me, hearing it, full volume on my headphones?
I love driving to this lol. These pursuits always felt so intense, dynamic, and real because of the audio and police tactics. The genius music and frantic radio lines reacting to each other were perfect.
6:32 19:54 i love that PA line it really matched and added fear into the pursuit
"Driver, Pull Your Vehicle Over, DO IT NOW!"
This was when games were fully complete.
Not the DLC we have today.
HOW TO CHASE THE TRAIN
1. WAIT FOR THE TRAIN TO APPROACH.
2. PLAY THIS MUSIC.
3. *FOLLOW IT!*
All we had to do, was follow the damn train, CJ!
I was listening to this in my headphones as background music

While i didn't own this game as a kid i still played a ton, and i just love how the M3 is this like ghost that never really existed and only lived in this one single game, and hearing 0:12 somehow STILL give me goosebumps despite being sorta disconnected from the game is mindblowing for me. Its not A silver bmw, its THE silver bmw.
even if it was for a very few moments he lived in the continuation NEED for Speedo carbon. if we can call that a continuation 🤢
@@thewordoftheuniverseandoft4814 RIP in that intro. Such a disappointment to see it just completely trashed 3 min in.
@@nichasatummyache2510 the drivability of the NFS carbon is very bad to Control. They could have at least given a ctrl+C & ctrl+v in the car Control. Tuning seems to make the car worse to drive. I prefer NEED for Speedo most wanted a thousand times in terms of gameplay and story
Then they ruin that whole ghost thing by adding the M3 GTR to the new games so people will play the game just to drive that thing again. That last mission in Heat's campaign was an obnoxious nostalgia attempt.
2020 and I can't get over how inmersive this game chatter was
The second this started I smiled having about 50 flashbacks of sparks from hitting cops, and my eyes hurting from all the flashing lights.
i did a 2hrs 45 mins pursuit in that game on level 5
2 hours here, I was slowly approaching my endurance limit ,because I think 30 minutes before that I lost 1 wheel the front left one and not 15 minutes later I lost my back right so I was pretty crippled and I was slowed to a crawl only thing that kept me outta trouble was the boosters and hazards, helicopters and the vans...*the vans* were complete nightmares

@@lapizuli5832 Because the GTR model is a aports car for legal races, and the e46;is like the street model
@@raspad702 which means the street model isn't as cool and doesn't have the monster of an engine and the straight cut gears of a legendary race car

@@DTHW115 yeah too bad no one but the team gets to drive the og one. At least we have the stock one.
The best part of this one from 4:40 up to 6:18 😍😍
That's my favorite too ... Best one
This game made my childhood, ive never seen car game so hectic and engaging like this anymore.
This game is almost 20 years old and no game has ever made you feel like such a badass running from the cops
Event after all those years, This is easily one of the most epic themes in gaming history. If they even remake this one , it got to have the this orignal score. No way to top it.
No way to top it, but Rivals can. Those cops are way too brutal than the other NFS games, in par with MW 2005 and HP 2010.
Most modern NFS games which is 2015, Payback, and Unbound can't even do that. Heat however, I'd give it a pass.
I love the feeling during the chases that one guy is responsible for this whole big police operation
Dispatcher: " Suspect's in a silver BMW "
Me : "gets chills"
Back when the street racer weren't heroes, but villains, and the cops not villains, but relentless
When I was little playing this game when I heard the music and the police I was scared for my life
High-level Need For Speed Most Wanted chases give me anxiety attacks it's great
**Me crying due to nostalgia**
7:58 i never heard this beat before, its rad!
Yea idk how the uploader got these there are track parts i havent heard before. Theres a guy who posted all 4 pursuit themes but they dont have parts that are in this
Arguably the best dispatch audio to ever be in a video game.
23:38 is my favore part of the song.

1:42 This Is The Where Real Shit Begins
when you go into cooldown, you turn down the street and you see a cop around the corner
When NFS was amazing... good ol' memories here. thanks for sharing.
You can just feel the intensity listening to this
"Where's the other guy?"
"He got away."
"You mean to tell me the *most* wanted street racer *happened* to get away, what about the black list?"
"Forget the blacklist, they're through"
"I want every single unit after the guy"

this game is called "most wanted" for a reason
The driver is aggressive and resists arrest. We need all units. code 3 standby.
Close your eyes, follow the music and the police reports. Trust your feelings....
And suddenly, you're there, in the M3, dodging blocks and going through police cars like they're paperweight.
I can hear the engine sounds in my head. Ah iust pure nostalgia
Still play this game to this day it is astonishing
Anyone else got in the police radio "He's a good driver" or something along those lines too?
LegendaryKing yeah
True Evil never dies I thought i was going crazy or hearing things lol
LegendaryKing it's "yeah he's quick I can't keep up"
The one at 16:15 is pretty enpowering.
LegendaryKing I got "Vehicle just left the road surface! This guy knows how to drive!" just 5mins ago
You can FEEL when the driver switches down a side lane an looses their direct eyes for a moment through the music.
You HEAR it pick back up when they spot you again.
It BUILDS as they drawn nearer, more and more of them.
It DROPS as you pull off sneaky tricks to momentarily loose them.
Fuck me this is too good TwT
We need more reactive music design in games.
Games have the unique potential to make it as in depth as this game does yet so few of them even toy with peices of the idea.
I also love the complete shift in tone condition 3 brings. It's like taking a deep breath and focusing on the road for real.
The cops are getting hard now, you cant play around anymore.
"Federal agents are now in control of the pursuit."
Oh, Jesus...We're in deep shit now!
no, this is where the fun begins
