It blows my mind to how the U.S lets these guys in our military and does nothing about it.
Why weren't these people tried for treason and why did the one man only got two years in jail?
They don't need two years. They need a lifetime.
It's a plead deal, obviously
treason in the US, defined by Article III section 3 of the US Constitution, consists solely of waging war against the US or aiding those who are waging war. This requires someone actively shooting at US interests. Currently there are no hostilities between the US and China so no treason for aiding China, even if they may wage war against the US in the future.
Treason is a crime that can only be committed during war time. Otherwise it is espionage.
The first one didn’t necessarily know what he was doing, or it was hard to prove he did, which makes it a lesser crime than the second and American prosecutors often make plea deals to avoid long trials. The second if convicted or offered a plea deal is not likely to get only 2 years unless it’s a woke prosecutor which could get him a slap on the wrist as he is not to my knowledge a Trump supporter and he has the right genetics for lenient sentencing according to the racist followers of the woke ideology.

China's navy is not the biggest. It has the most vessels, but they are mostly small vessels. The US navy is far larger by tonnage.
And Japan's Navy is far superior to the Chinese navy as well even if not as large. India has a very competent navy too.
With today's missile technology a large ship like a carrier is just an easier-to-hit target.

I was on the Essex years ago as a Marine during a MEU. The "Fighting Gators" was the ship's moto and is on their merch (yah they have coffee mugs n tshirts in ships store)

Being they crank out more and more, they'll have experience soon enough. Look at Russia. They lacked experience compared to the Ukraine military that had been fighting separatists for several years. Now Russia has experience and is able to make gains. Also, US also has very little experience in air to air combat as their hasn't been a major airforce to contend with for a very, very long time.

I'm an engineer in the aerospace industry. I have discussed with a few friends the possibility of selling CCP spies structural data that has been intentionally designed with such a poor fatigue detail that the part would fail mid-flight after a couple hundred flight cycles, and ideally it would be an important enough part that the whole aircraft would be incapable of landing anywhere close to intact. I'd happily work with the FBI on this (and wouldn't even attempt it unless I was working with them). Question is does the CCP have the investigatory skills to retrieve all the parts and determine which part failed and why...
The Chinese can't innovate anything, but they could hire foreign engineers to do the investigatory work.

As I speculated in a separate comment, deception operations are probably happening already. No doubt there are creative types in the intelligence community with the resources to pull this off with minimal risk to the participants (on our side).

A huge military requires a huge support system. The US military runs four logistics/support positions for each combat position. And that's just personal. Then there's feeding all those troops which for China would be a massive cost of money, personal and other resources alone. Bigger isn't always better specially if war breaks out and global supply chains break down.

I agree, and retired military personnel must receive approval from the DoD to be employed with another country. However, I'm not sure about those who separate from the military. I think it should be required for all prior military members.
