I had to stop driving when Niko told Kate about Roman's mother getting raped and murdered. That was one of the most shocking moments of the game for me. Feel bad for all the gamers who missed out on that convo. Gave extra depth to Niko's life in Yugoslavia

I wish Kate was in the main story more. Her death only affected you if you did the dates with her, she was useful in revealing more of Niko's backstory and challenging his ideals.
I wish I had dated her but she never answered the calls so the decision for her to die was easy. I guess I should've called her as soon as Packie gave me her number?

I think that the dialog with him and her in mr and mrs Bellic shows that. It’s it that moment, moments before she dies she finally accepts Niko to go out with her and Niko promises to protect her and Niko blames him self for not protecting her
Meh. I sat through a date or two to shut her up, but I wasn’t losing sleep over her death. I mean, you’d be more emotionally invested in used tissues.

This game changed all my perceptions of gaming, previously I never gave a crap to story but my god this tragic tale of finding the American Dream was the astounding.
It hits you right in the feels towards the end too, Rockstar made this so well!

GTA 4 was one of the best stories in gaming, only if you connect the dots yourself. from the whole city going after the diamond that ends up with a homeless guy, from the characters that are all fun and unique in their own ways, avoiding cliches at it too. Everything is connected in the story, nothing random pops up, it just works, and it's great.

niko should had been born from at least 1969 if niko was a soldier in 1990s he would had been a child soldier in yugoslavia, there is also a dialogue in a mission where niko flys helicopter for the 1st time in mission where he said "it was in the war when i last flew a helicopter" if it was true he would had been able to fly a helicopter at the age of 15

@@tmpmisterix1479 i know that he was born 1978 already, what i am telling is that they should had make niko born in year 1969 instead, niko definitely looks older than being 30 years old, and he was likely in his minor teens when he was a soldier, rockstar games seems making poor writing of characters details, and how does a war makes you much older than your actual age, i know someone who is a war veteran who is over 68 years old and he still looks like he was in his late 20s, the war he fought is actually based on real war that happened in the early 90s, more like he was 14-19 years old at that time

I liked Kate. She was a change for most female secondary characters in GTA. And her voice actor not to be weird but she sounds attractive as hell. I liked her too because though she disagreed with how Niko lives and her brothers she still cares for them. And shows you can disagree and challenge someone's views without hate/being childish and dramatic. She accepted other's own directions even if she didn't agree to it. And the only time she expected Niko to give it up was when she was going to become a serious part of his life. So she'd not end how she did. Nor him.
Really? I feel like she kind of bullied him with her tactics, playing the "you're nothing but a bad criminal and a cold bastard" card on him constantly. She was never in his shoes growing up, you can't just miraculously change in a year's time and decide "hm, maybe I can change my life tomorrow and that's that". She was a dreamer

milkinaction Don’t get me started on the character model. GTA 4 made most girl characters look skinny and in TBOGT at Maisonette 9 they usually looked like they had no eyebrows. Kate is just ugly and looked like my 6th grade teacher.
I always liked Niko and Katie, they were a great couple. Also, it seems like the canon relationship in the game. And the revenge ending also makes more sense.

One of my favourite video-game characters. Very well-written and developed through the game.
He was good character before he met Kate, now he can die and I will be more happy than sad.
I find it hilarious how Niko brushes off other people's problems (Kiki, Dwayne etc.) but he appears to genuinely care for Kate's problems.

I never really appreciated any of GTA IV conversations. Mostly because I was really young when I played it. Watching this video though, wow, I never knew the conversations between Kate and Niko went to really deep places. Now that I've grown up a bit and lived a little more in this fucked up world... I understand them and gotta say... this video is pretty amazing. Thanks for putting in the effort to put these together in a video.
Oh and it's too bad Kate and Niko can't be together. I think they could've worked out as a couple just fine.
gta 4 is the gta for the kids that grew up playing the first games for pc and ps2, gta finally mets modern day and next gen graphics+engine+consoles+pc hardware , they were 18/+20 by then , gta 5 is just a game for kids, period.
Best story and script outta all of them.
The worst part is, that even as possibly selfish as her cutting ties with Niko post-Deal ending is, she did it because she really loved him, didn't want to "put a child in a world without a father", and feared her own safety.
And her absolute worst fears come true in Revenge ending.
It's such a weird alternate-universe premonition, and it's just so sad.

Niko's LifeInvader profile in GTA V suggests that the canon ending to IV isn't actually in the game - Roman is listed on his friends list and Kate is on his relationship status.

I hate how much hate Kate gets. She's not perfect by any means and maybe could have been written better, but I love that she's so atypical as a love interest. She's not the perfect, idealized woman; she has flaws and is dealing with trauma just like Niko. I personally don't think they ever would have worked out for long as a couple, but I find their relationship fascinating, and Kate to be an interesting character.
I think she wouldn't get as much flak if the ending didn't have you choose between her and Roman to live

Jonasz Koran-Mekka but after the "deal ending" Kate calls niko and says she doesn't want to have her children to grow up with no father. So Niko was finally accepted.

Man, Kate and Niko sharing their burdens, both very tragic characters. They really worked well together, but I can't help but feel sad for them.
I like to think that Kate's monologue at the end was her committing to an actual relationship with Niko.
She does and that's what hurts the most. Niko basically told her that it was all over and that he was leaving the criminal world. Dimitri was dealt with and so he felt that no one would be coming after him anymore. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Kate saw that he was leaving that life for her and she committed to him.

I can see Kate being a symbol of hope for Niko, all his life it has never been easy for him nor good to him, he comes from if not one of the toughest countries but the hardest part of a country that is made for broken or strong individuals who will do anything to survive.
He had an abusive father just like Kate’s father was believed to be abusive to her brothers,
He grew up with people in his village and got close to them all but when he lost them in the war it deeply affected him. He got involved with people who use violence and brutality against anyone in their way so this is something that Niko is comfortable with but also is trying to get away from the violence.
Kate is the best thing to ever happen to Niko she doesn't agree with the killing and violent crimes she's heavily against it so she is the type that will bring him out of the darkness.

It’s so weird how different you’re dialogue was with Kate driving to the wedding. When I drove there, she had a much more platonic conversation with Niko and seemed honored to be invited. I guess it depends how you treat her when going on dates. I mainly stuck to taking her on dinner dates and shooting pool with her.
I've always loved the multicultural in GTA IV.
Lets just imagine a happy ending, where Niko (Serbian) marries Kate (Irish), his cousin Roman (also Serbian) marries Mallorie Bardas (a Puerto Rican girl). Niko's best friends are Packie (also Irish), Brucie (american), Dwayne (afro-american), Bernie (another Serbian), Little Jacob and Badman (from Jamaica). They all live in Liberty City, they speak english and also they're main language sometimes. It would be cool if Niko could get her mother to LC to meet the family and spend her years living a better life than in Serbia where they were so poor..

I know a lot of people disliked Kate, but I kind of liked her. I could sympathize with her Catholic guilt complex and honestly, I thought she and Niko would make a cute couple. All the other girlfriends were just as irritating with none of the character development.

In my game, Derrick is always the one to go. Dude is scum, snitched on everyone he'd ever known, was about to snitch on Francis and Derrick is the one that put Gerry behind bars. He is a Heroin addict and an alcoholic that was a veteran of the IRA wars. Francis is a jerk and he is a Crooked cop, but he does a lot of good with getting terrible people off of the planet. Everyone that he sends Niko off to deal with were the scum of the earth. I hate how so many people choose to save Derrick anyways. Besides, Derrick lived and died by the needle in the end cause Packie in Gta 5, 5 years later, notes that he is dead. So even if you give him a second chance at life, he wastes it anyway. I like to think that Derrick is the Canon death

@@gayfishticks2839 Packie mentions at some point in the game that he and Gerry were molested, but I can't remember which part. As much as a lot of fans dislike Kate, you can't deny that she cares about her brothers (Packie particularly considering she interacts with him the most out of the brothers and are a year apart), despite wanting nothing to do with their criminal connections. The Revenge ending is bittersweet and makes sense with the tone of the story, but that phone call from Packie after she dies is just gutwrenching.

I never thought that a crime-filled game like GTA can make you emotional with moral, ethics and values of life. I would like to choose Kate because of her optimistic personality. I also liked Michelle at starting until she betrays Niko. I like this kind of characters. I also like Toshiko from GTA LCS and Louise from GTA VCS.

Kate was one my favourite characters in gta 4, despite that she had to see violent fights (with gerald smashing francis' head against the wall). Mark Mcreary, the mcreary siblings' father, was an peverted, abusive and massive alcholic who abused of Mrs mcreary, packie and his brothers and molested him and gerry, but he never abused or raped kate, he actually loved and respected her and he was quite never angry at her.

Packie is criminally Underrated man, he is one of those characters that can protagonize a hell of a nice spinoff
I always pick the revenge ending. I find Roman dying to be a little bit overkill after all the shit him and Niko go through in the entire story but it makes sense Dimitri to be the ending villain but same time he is such a rat he doesn't deserve such satisfaction. I find it more sad that Kate dies because she is the only thing closest to Niko loving someone, setting down and having a normal life for it to be torn away from him by Pegerino.

Twice, I had a bizarre glitch/or hidden dialogue where I dated Kate like 3x or something over the storyline course, then Packie called (mad) asking when Niko will stop with the dates and get married (to her). Niko, knowing how Packie feels about any man close with his sister, winds him down saying him and Kate are "just friends." to which Packie responds "Sure Niko, keep telling yourself that."
It is EXTREMELY RARE I get that call however.

I personally loved Kate she was such a sweet girl and was perfect for Nikko the only problem was she was a absolute waste of time and left him after the you choose deal which is fucked Up , if Nikko and Katie would of had something going on after the game I wouldn't have chosen revenge
I'm really personally torn on that one. Because while I also agree that what she did was selfish, and sad she didn't want to give him another chance/just talk things through, the very same things she were afraid of come true in the Revenge-ending. She's scared being around him will bring suffering - even if she does love him and deeply hoping he can change - and her commiting to him DOES bring her the ultimate suffering, yknow?
Either way, it's goddamn sad, and just a great moral plot.
In the game, Roman asks you to do the deal but sadly he dies in the deal ending. On the other hand, Kate asks you to take revenge and finish it once and for all but she dies later. Both the endings are sad, but i saved Roman because he is Niko's cousin and because i hated that motherfucking dimitri
she left him because she realized that he wasn't going to get out of crime. He didn't follow her advice to not deal with Dimitri, and this made her lose faith in him.
Revenge is much better for Mission 86
It was really good Kate was telling Niko not feel angry after when Niko lost his cousin and told him like if he has a problem or anyone to talk to she was there
