  • This works particularly well with discoloured white or light coloured Apple Watch straps. No messing around with soapy water, we go right to the hard stuff. This will get rid of all embedded stains and marks.

    I don’t normally comment of UA-cam, but I’m so bloody delighted that this ACTUALLY works with much effort! Thanks so much, you’ve made my day 😅

    Acetone for the win! I cleaned my white and starlight bands using this method. They were marked up from using the black rubber coated dumbbells at the gym and I thought I was going to have to replace them. I tried all sorts of cleaning products but never thought to use nail polish remover. Thank you!!!

    GUYS THAT ACTUALLY WORKED!! Just have to rub for a couple mins and looks basically brand new and doesnt seem to be damaged by the nail polish remover (aka acetone bc i think thats the ingredient that actually helps to clean). Recommend

      Glad it helped! You are correct it is acetone that does the work, and it won't damage silicone.

    I had the Apple Watch starlight band that got very stained wearing a navy blue dress years ago. Nothing I did got it off. I wore it anyways playing golf baking in the sun. Tried the acetone nail polish remover today and my watch band looks brand new. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤

      It didn’t remove any colour right? I’m worried about the starlight colour lifting off the strap 😅

    • @drmousette
      @drmousette  6 місяців тому

      No it won't remove any colour. The colour is blended in with the silicone, not painted on top. Too many people out there who don't know anything about materials 😉

      @@drmousettethere was no reason to add the latter bit of your comment, I know it's mixed with the silicon, there's no reason to look down on people who aren't sure, ok… also, you have a typo in your comment it's not “too much cautious people”, it's “too many cautious people”… There are too many people out there who don't know enough about their own language

      @@Bella-Matt-H I wasn't referring to you. You asked me a question (no such thing as a daft question in my book) which was indicative of someone who was curious about how it all works - cool, pleased to assist! It's the other comments from people who come out with rubbish as statements of fact, and then make people like yourself worry for no reason. Hope this clears it up and P.S. I correct my typo, Thanks 😉

    Polish remover is harsh, acetone can break down plastic and rubber, must use conditioner right after

    • @drmousette
      @drmousette  2 місяці тому +1

      Where on earth did you get that nonsense from? Silicone is a cross-linked material meaning that it cannot be dissolved, if anything it may swell, but only after very prolonged exposure. Acetone is polar, meaning that it is not compatible with silicone anyway. So in summary, everything about your comment is incorrect.

    Can it just be alcohol or does it need to be actual nail polish remover?

    • @drmousette
      @drmousette  Місяць тому

      No. Alcohol and acetone are completely different chemical compounds. It needs to be acetone. 100% acetone nail varnish remover is best. Very cheap to pick up too.

    This is bad for the strap. If you did it on a coloured band you would see the colour being removed.

    • @drmousette
      @drmousette  4 місяці тому +6

      It's not bad for the strap. And you cannot remove the colour because the colour isn't a coating. The actual silicone is that colour. You need to do some research methinks before making public statements.
