For fabric bands, I just put them in a fine mesh laundry bag and throw them in with my regular laundry. Then I let them air dry. So far, they've always come out clean and bright. I wash them about once a week when I do laundry, so it's pretty easy to keep them clean. The velcro straps dry quite fast, a couple hours max. The elastic ones usually have to dry overnight, especially those thicker woven ones.

For my braided loop bands, I put it in my swimming goggles bag then throw it in the washing machine. They comes out like new.

I’ve had great success cleaning the braided solo loops just putting them in a delicates mesh bag and washing them in a standard clothes washing machine with tide detergent. I wash them at least once a week to avoid any stains causing permanent discoloration and preventing odor buildup

Honestly, very helpful video. I struggle with methods to clean my bands as well and this video provides some insightful tips. I've noticed overtime some of my lighter colored bands becoming darkened and just visibly dirty and will definitely try some of these cleaning methods. Love the content and transparency provided on your channel.

My preference is the sport loop when exercising because of the fit / comfort factor. However they can be bacteria factories if you don’t wash them regularly. I rinse my band under water after each training session and pat dry with a towel, then let it sit to dry out for a couple of hours. For this reason I have several bands that I rotate. Then once every couple of weeks I will hand wash the bands with eco friendly laundry liquid. Keeps them looking and smelling fresh. Great video guys!!

What about elasticity? Husband wears his strait, it is dirty and a little loose compared to first bought. After washing, does it shrink? What if put in the dryer?

There are two ways to clean the Apple silicone bands to remove blue Jean stains on white bands:
Option 1: magic eraser sponge gentle rub with warm water until it remove it
Option 2: gentle nail varnish remover with cotton wool pads gentle rub.
Rinse with cold water and dry.
    Works every time.
    Cheers

I can’t believe how dirty the fabric loops get so quickly!! I just use some of the antibacterial handwash from the side of the hand basin and some hot water. I rub it in a bit and let soak for the day. That evening get an old toothbrush and give a light scrub. Comes up great

my Apple Watch strap was so dirty after only 1 month of use, mine went from dark gray to light gray again. Just used persil and water and it looked and smelled amazing. Oxi clean method seems to restore more color, I will have to try that next.

Yeah I almost always rinse the cloth ones in water, and I try to Lysol wipe the plastic ones, especially if I work out, but not always. I’ll try cleaning them more thoroughly some time.

For my braided loops (and I will be using the same method with my Trail Loop, Alpine Loop) I have a little mesh wash bag (that is for washing small delicate items in a washing machine) I put the band in the mesh bag, use a mild soap (I use Fairy Non Biological) and wash it on the machine's delicate cycle, I then either select no spin, or at most 400 rpm spin speed. After washing it comes up like new.

To wash my sport loop: I place the strap in a small plastic container that the strap can be completely submerged in add warm water/unscented & dye free dish soap. Let soak for 15-30 minutes and then rinse, wring, pat dry with a towel and set out to dry.
Nice and clean and no smell.

Year late for this, but I heard that some people suggest to just toss the bands into a large pocket, like a cargo pants big pocket. Button the pocket, so the bands don't fall out, and that seems to do the trick for the bands they had. Curious on this, since I currently have a 3rd party LifeProof band that is in need to replacing and I've had my eye on the braided solo loop. Will be wanting to keep that one clean.

  • @webster695

I only wear sport loops, and I wash them regularly. I hand wash them with Castile soap (which I use for most laundry and house cleaning), and scrub for a few minutes. I wash all of my sport loops every couple of months, and the difference is stark.
One reason mine look dirty sooner is that I’m a brown-skinned Black person; so any skin rubbing off is already darker. But everyone has skin cells and sweat and so on collecting on the bands. Taking ten minutes to wash them makes sense. Any mild detergent would work fine, no need to be aggressive with it, IME.

For the braided solo loop buy a super soft bristle toothbrush and with warm water and a drop of dawn gently scrub both sides of the band. This is truly the best way. Another good method for any fabric band is to put it in a small Tupperware with warm water and a scoop of borax and shake it then let it sit a while. Rinse it off and it will be noticeably cleaner and softer.

it’s wild how quickly and how dirty fabric watch bands can get and how you don’t really notice until it’s drastic. i bought one that had a painting printed on it, and even though the painting had a darker color palette, it was extremely obvious how dirty it was once i had noticed. it was like a different painting on the band. and to be fair it could be affected by the fact that i work in a bakery that has a good few chocolate products that i have to make, but even still, it’s wild how dirty the part that was only in touch with my skin and not really anything else was.

My leather link eventually became a cheese wrist situation. Broke down and went with a leather cleaner and conditioner. The cleaning didn’t last as long as I hoped. I’ve gone to a braided nylon solo loop in charcoal. Let’s see how long it takes to become wrist cheesy.

@@LeahBaker36 The problem with the nylon solo is that it stretches. No remedy for that as far as I know. No way you can burn through $100 nylon solos from Apple on the regular. So I’m back to leather link + wiping and cleaning.
Cheap Amazon nylon solos can work for short intervals, but they *will* stretch.

So for ANYONE seeing this comment and has a Fabric Strap…
    1. EFFERDENT ( yea the denture cleaner ) use one
    2. Let your band soak for 10-20min in lukewarm water
    3. Use a Soft Bristle Toothbrush 🪥
    4. Rinse with lukewarm water
    5. Hang dry
If your strap is really dirty then use 2-3 efferdent tablets.

Using Nike sports loop for the series 6 so it’s black don’t really see any dirt marks. I usually just rub it down with water just enough to damp it and I just Febreze it and let it dry under the sun.
Thing with this band it doesn’t absorb sweat as much and dries really well during my intense runs. I think it’s a clear sign if it start to stink or u get red marks and itches on ur wrist then u know it’s time to wash😆.
