Kenzo EDP is an interesting fragrance - like the sea saltiness of Bvlgari Aqua Marine, the leather of Bottega Veneta and the effervescent patchouli from Narciso Rodriguez for Him... and you're right - it has grown on me and now I really like it. Not a great first impression but really creeps up on you
Kenzo Pour Homme EDT Intense which was the one released first in 2020 or 2021 is a looooot better because it has this salty watermelon accord which you can't find in the others. You should try that one as well Justin!
40 knots is a very complex fragrance Justin, as you will see when you give it a full wear, it evolves over time very much, its the most amazing fragrance in my collection.
Of all the fragrances I have smelled…500+….nothing transforms and morphs like 40 knots. It’s different in every single season. It’s salty, sweet, minerally, ambers, powdery, fresh, dark, marine, etc etc. if you want a chameleon of a fragrance that will change every time you wear it…40 knots is the one. One of Xerjoff’s best. I think after multiple wearing you will appreciate the chameleon of fragrances. It can be worn in any season as well IMO
They did a great job marketing 40 Knots lol I don’t get the marine aquatic either. And I wouldn’t wear it in the high heat. I live in Louisiana so I would choke people with it. I do like the scent though.

I wore this 3 times from a 2ml sample, on cold weather and warmer weather...fantastic on both. Deep in the drydown, towards the 6th hour it develops an animalic note - can't put my finger on it. It gets sour somehow...but I can't say it bothers me. This is really really good.
Man, I still miss my kenzo pour home OG, from the 90's so complex and so fresh. Kenzo homme EDP, it's a fine aquatic for year round, yeah, it lasts long during cold weather, for an aquatic fragrance 👍

Kenzo pour Homme intense is fantastic. It's my current summer signature. I have an appreciation for the avant garde approach that Kenzo takes with their fragrances. Kenzo Boise "Woody" and Power are my two favorites from the house. I know that you have an appreciation for fragrances with classic appeal so Kenzo Jungle might be an interesting one to sample as well.
I have 8 fragrances from Aaron Terrence one of them being daddy, which is amazing ! I love the catchy name…a woman asked me what I was wearing because it smelled amazing and I told her daddy…her reply was “I’m sure the ladies do call you daddy smelling like that” lol

I don't have anything in my large fragrance collection that is a very unique aquatic leather fragrance in my opinion" honestly hasn't been one time I've worn this fragrance that more than once someone is saying that the fragrance smells fantastic lol
You should give Kenzo Jungle a try….. You may enjoy it. Much different from their Homme / Pour Homme lines… I do the edt intense from their Homme line and it’s solid… fresh woody fig scent. I like it. Jungle is where it’s at though…

I had to revisit this video to let you know I got my hands on a bottle of Kenzo pour homme EDP and you were not exaggerating this juice at all. I was blown away. It’s playful but grown-up. Smells like nothing I’ve smelt and for the price it’s definitely winner!
Heyyy Justin ouwer Hermes Merveilles line is in the house😉 for a sec.. Xerjoff has amazing scents, my favorite still is Dolce Amalfi💛, especially in hot summer weather it's stunning! Never tried the 40 knots. Love from ❤ Amsterdam

From florida smelling like Prada L’Homme today. I think you would enjoy some of the Tumi fragrances. A bit simple, but still quite good, excellent for layering.
I have Ivory Route and I think 40 Knots and Ivory have a semi same base or dry down. But Ivory Route seems more heavy on spices whilst 40 Knots has that salty, powdery smell.
Man, I got 40 knots on a blind buy based on reviews and I hated it at first. I thought it smelled like Nivea lotion or something. It grew on me and the drydown is where it's at.
40knots is one of those that I saved up for. Got a full 100ml bottle and it is so nice. I too agree that is affected by the marketing and UA-cam. It is not really an aquatic. BUT, it does work in the heat!

I owned the OG Kenzo Pour Home with the frosted blue bamboo bottle back in the 90s. There was that particular sea note that distanced it from the other offerings at the time. It was the combination of the salty sea note with the woody floral base that made it unique. I sampled 40 Knots and it was love at first sniff. Took me to an image of day at the marina while wearing a white shirt while I board a yacht. A marine amber. But the more I wore it the more I felt it was too strong for the warm seasons.
Hello Justin I leave in France. Kenzo edp in my opinion smell like oud essentiel Guerlain. Very similare .but kenzo is more accessible for Any occasion. Very nice blue fragrance.

I've heard some people say that Kenzo EDP is like a summer version of La Nuit. I'm not sure if you got anything close to that, but I saw someone in a group I'm in mention it, and that did pique my interest a little. It doesn't seem like it'd be all that similar from the notes and what it's being compared to though.
So basically 40 knots is Xerjoff take on Dior ambre Nuit. 40 knots is a bit denser but Ambre Nuit is lighter a bit fresher and somewhat better quality. Xerjoff performed much better for me. But it imo Dior on scent alone is better.
I’ve had good luck with Dua and Alexandria fragrances smelling exactly like the originals…so I picked up “Smooth Sailing” by Alexandria (a 40 knots clone) and I got a big dose of sweet powder all the way through. And I thought, we’ll maybe they really missed the mark on this clone - but apparently not, cuz what you described is EXACTLY what I smell in mine.

Two are the best Kenzo's ( for me , of course ) Kenzo Homme EDT ( 1991 and the new re edition) and Kenzo L'Eau Pour Homme ( 1999) the rest are following trends and not very distinctive .
This new bottle of Kenzo has me stumped. Has to be a reformulation. The OG almost had a rubbery accord to it that this one is missing. Its very odd that they changed it this much. One of my all time favorites, but the new formulation isn't my jam. Enjoy!
I guess I'm the only one that thinks 40 knots is mid... I wanted to love it, and I actually do get the salt air vibe ...but when I want to wear xerjoff I reach for nio, naxos, uden or decas.
Heh, funny how you got 40 Knots after I sent Ross my bottle, lololol. I got mine from Jomashop at a nice discount so I didn't pay a whole lot. The thing about it though is that later on as it macerates, at least in my experience, it got quite spicy on me, like veerrryyyyy spicy. I don't know how or why, but when I first tried the sample and my first few wearings, yeah it was aquatic...but not aquatic. Fresh, marine, but deep and had layers and layers. But I let the bottle sit for a long while, I didn't really go back to it except on occasion. When I did go back much later, it had a marine accord, but then it just developed this spice which made me think that there was cardamom in the fragrance...and it was mainly a spicy and woody marine fragrance all the way through. I liked the scent, but I wasn't captivated like I was at first. So I knew Ross loved spicy fragrances, but I knew this had depth, so I offered it to him and sent it and he loves it now, so I'm happy. Just give it time, it will open up more as it macerates.

Okay so I bought Kenzo Homme Man edt and it smells like opening up one of those plastic kid swimming pools that come rolled up vertically with the blue rubber plastic bottom and the hard flexible white wall with the sea animal print...wow.

I have sampled 40 knots and, unfortunately, all I get is baby wipes right off the rip. After a while it changes slightly with a little bit of a woody backbone, but the baby wipe vibe persists. I traded the decant away in the end.
colonia intensa is awesome citrus woody aromatic spicy scent! Also from ELDO try rien intense incense, a masterpiece of a fragrance. Incense with aldehydes, leather and more. Beast mode! The name 40 knots and resemblance with ambre nuit was surprising to me as well but i haven't yet compared them myself. but the smelly box reactions and the ATH name reactions were funny lol. Also I would like to suggest some and make u try it on camera, how do i do it? :)
I didn't like 40 knots. Was trying and trying but no. Exchange it for Oud for Greatness. See,oceans,aquatic? Noup. Now I feel I should wear it little longer but what's done it's done. Someday ... To my nose, 40knots is amber nuit minus the saltiness it can have. I don’t get any maritime or aquatic from it. Perhaps I just don’t understand it lol.
Now we know why the Xerjoff boxes come in a box and that box is in cellophane. It is to make sure you don’t find out the very first box is a smelly one 😉
I get a coconutty vibe from the Kenzo. I can't detect any leather or patchouli note. Bought the scent because of the almost positiv comments by the people. But I'm a little underwelmed

Though both smell minerally.. but its not the same minerals.. ganymede is more versatile as it is an easy grab. to me 40knots is more for a triple white ensemble affair. Longevity is on par but some days 40knots could go an hour or two longer Vanillic, ambery and powdery? That is so the opposite from the 40knots I smell from my 40knots. Its not soft, and has nothing to do with Alexandria 1 or 2 to my nose. It smells salty, akin to the sea breeze. skin chemistry is a thing. lol but one thing for sure is you have to be in the mood for 40knots. Edit: ah ok u got the marine notes finally.. perhaps the fragrance oil thats been stuck at the nozel the whole time been mixing with the box smell and that was what hit u initially lol
They were talking about Kenzo possibly being a clone of Ganymede not 40 knots lol. Trust me, Kenzo and Ganymede are not clones even though Quentin Bisch was the nose for both.

Kenzo has nice scents. Fresh, leaning aquatic and oriental in general. They used to have only edt. Never moved me enough to actually get a bottle.

Imo the kenzo edt intense is the one to get. The new marine flanker keeps the same dna but a bit lighter, really pleasant as well.

I think the EDP (2020) smells good in the air but when I bury my nose where I spray it, I literally get nauseous.
Love the Kenzo EDP. What I'm gonna say next might not make sense..but to me it's as if Bleu de Chanel and JPG le Beau edp had a lovechild.

I haven’t smelled Ambre Nuit in some time, would need to revisit it.
I got nothing marine out of 40 knots !!!! Lol nor aquatic. Was powdery and a bit sweet off my skin.

I've heard some people say that Kenzo EDP is like a summer version of La Nuit. I'm not sure if you got anything close to that, but I saw someone in a group I'm in mention it, and that did pique my interest a little. It doesn't seem like it'd be all that similar from the notes and what it's being compared to though.

40 knots, you have to try it some time to aprecciate, it will grow on you im sure of that.
To me 40 knots smells like a coca cola mixed with white flowers, very nice and interesting fragrance
So basically 40 knots is Xerjoff take on Dior ambre Nuit. 40 knots is a bit denser but Ambre Nuit is lighter a bit fresher and somewhat better quality. Xerjoff performed much better for me. But it imo Dior on scent alone is better.
I’ve had good luck with Dua and Alexandria fragrances smelling exactly like the originals…so I picked up “Smooth Sailing” by Alexandria (a 40 knots clone) and I got a big dose of sweet powder all the way through. And I thought, we’ll maybe they really missed the mark on this clone - but apparently not, cuz what you described is EXACTLY what I smell in mine.
They still might not be exactly the same! I wore it today and the magic was in the dry down. Good stuff.

Two are the best Kenzo's ( for me , of course ) Kenzo Homme EDT ( 1991 and the new re edition) and Kenzo L'Eau Pour Homme ( 1999) the rest are following trends and not very distinctive .

This new bottle of Kenzo has me stumped. Has to be a reformulation. The OG almost had a rubbery accord to it that this one is missing. Its very odd that they changed it this much. One of my all time favorites, but the new formulation isn't my jam. Enjoy!

I guess I'm the only one that thinks 40 knots is mid... I wanted to love it, and I actually do get the salt air vibe ...but when I want to wear xerjoff I reach for nio, naxos, uden or decas.

Heh, funny how you got 40 Knots after I sent Ross my bottle, lololol. I got mine from Jomashop at a nice discount so I didn't pay a whole lot. The thing about it though is that later on as it macerates, at least in my experience, it got quite spicy on me, like veerrryyyyy spicy. I don't know how or why, but when I first tried the sample and my first few wearings, yeah it was aquatic...but not aquatic. Fresh, marine, but deep and had layers and layers. But I let the bottle sit for a long while, I didn't really go back to it except on occasion. When I did go back much later, it had a marine accord, but then it just developed this spice which made me think that there was cardamom in the fragrance...and it was mainly a spicy and woody marine fragrance all the way through. I liked the scent, but I wasn't captivated like I was at first. So I knew Ross loved spicy fragrances, but I knew this had depth, so I offered it to him and sent it and he loves it now, so I'm happy. Just give it time, it will open up more as it macerates.
I gave 40 Knots a full wearing today and actually loved it!

Okay so I bought Kenzo Homme Man edt and it smells like opening up one of those plastic kid swimming pools that come rolled up vertically with the blue rubber plastic bottom and the hard flexible white wall with the sea animal print...wow.

I have sampled 40 knots and, unfortunately, all I get is baby wipes right off the rip. After a while it changes slightly with a little bit of a woody backbone, but the baby wipe vibe persists. I traded the decant away in the end.
colonia intensa is awesome citrus woody aromatic spicy scent! Also from ELDO try rien intense incense, a masterpiece of a fragrance. Incense with aldehydes, leather and more. Beast mode! The name 40 knots and resemblance with ambre nuit was surprising to me as well but i haven't yet compared them myself. but the smelly box reactions and the ATH name reactions were funny lol. Also I would like to suggest some and make u try it on camera, how do i do it? :)
I need to try those from ELDO.
In terms of suggestions, if I continue to get them for a particular fragrance, then I will get it and try it. :)

One question ... Why perfumes are called fragrances in the USA? It's so hard for me to get use to it considering I'm from Europe.

To my nose, 40knots is amber nuit minus the saltiness it can have. I don’t get any maritime or aquatic from it. Perhaps I just don’t understand it lol.
Now we know why the Xerjoff boxes come in a box and that box is in cellophane. It is to make sure you don’t find out the very first box is a smelly one 😉
I get a coconutty vibe from the Kenzo. I can't detect any leather or patchouli note.
Bought the scent because of the almost positiv comments by the people. But I'm a little underwelmed

@@stayfreshproductions I agree with your thoughts from this live 100%. I suspect that full wearing will really change your mind on the fragrance. Ive really taken to your mantra of wearing scents that speak to me and this is a perfume that out of 30 or so bottles (which im still trying to downsize in light of my new tastes) I reach for constantly. Its infectious for some reason.

14:02 ganymede dupe? No, 40knots came before ganymede. they dont smell the same. Though both smell minerally.. but its not the same minerals.. ganymede is more versatile as it is an easy grab. to me 40knots is more for a triple white ensemble affair. Longevity is on par but some days 40knots could go an hour or two longer
Vanillic, ambery and powdery? That is so the opposite from the 40knots I smell from my 40knots. Its not soft, and has nothing to do with Alexandria 1 or 2 to my nose. It smells salty, akin to the sea breeze. skin chemistry is a thing. lol but one thing for sure is you have to be in the mood for 40knots.
Edit: ah ok u got the marine notes finally.. perhaps the fragrance oil thats been stuck at the nozel the whole time been mixing with the box smell and that was what hit u initially lol
They were talking about Kenzo possibly being a clone of Ganymede not 40 knots lol. Trust me, Kenzo and Ganymede are not clones even though Quentin Bisch was the nose for both.
