  • When it comes to choosing a scope, the "base mag", or base magnification" is an important consideration because it affects how that scope is going to perform for your specific use or purpose. In this episode of AGM Table Talks, we discuss what base mag means for thermal scopes, what components determine base mag, and why you should pay attention to it when you are buying a new thermal. As always, if you have any thoughts or insights that you think we missed, put them down in the comments!

Good video. Are they any specific data for how much zoom distorts the size of targets? I always find it extremely challenging when shooting on 4x (2x basemag) because the target looks so much bigger than it should. Maybe it is only me but I feel like my shots group better when Im on base mag instead of higher mag

Big fan, currently have 3 of your units... A Rattler (V1) TS50-640, a Neith DS32-4MP (scope), and one of the new Neith LRF clip-on units. And I'm looking to get one of the Rattler V2 50-640's, as well. This is my first clip-on unit, and I'm curious as to why the OSD is in the middle of the display blocking the view, and not up top like the Rattler and Neith scope? It seems like if you're recording, you will want that OSD up top like on the regular scopes for time/date/etc...? I haven't had a chance to mount it and try it out yet, but won't the OSD being in the dead-center of the screen and blocking the reticle cause you to have viewing issues? Any chance for an update that gives us options for having the OSD up top like the scope versions for when we're recording, so we have an open image and reticle on the screen at all times?
