I seem to remember that somebody heavily involved with Art Attack and a massive interest in Butlins bought a chunk of Filey Butlins underwater swimming pool glass from me many years ago. Seems likely, looking at the videos on this UA-cam channel that there is a link!
I worked there from 1986 to 1991 as a photographer , photographing the campers in bars, restaurants, dance halls , discos and competition's. It was the best time I had as a young single bloke. Every night was Saturday night. We met lots of people and had a great time. I stopped in a caravan on the site on the other side of the camp . It was a marvelous time of my life .
Have some of the best childhood memories at butlins and the sun splash. Went there so many times in the 90s. I have a 3yo daughter now and plan to take her to butlins for her first holiday. I wonder if it will be as magical for her as it was for me.
Yes I agree I used to watch wish you were here growing up and I always dreamed of having her job I use to like the theme music as well best job ever she was so lucky lol
is it just more or is the audio equalization unusually punchy and clear during the interviews seen in this clip ? sounds absolutely fantastic, id love to hear simon bates being mixed by this engineer.
Interesting to see the old Butlins the chalets looked horrible bk then everything brown 😝 be nice if I could have a time machine go bk and try it just for the experience but I much prefer today's modern Butlins 👍. Sad to think the old people doing the interview are all dead now 😫 that's the problem time waits for no one and goes super fast. I was 6 when this episode was made now I'm 41😭 were has the time gone ?🙈🤷
@bastardtubeuser sounds like an orban multiband broadcast limiter + allpass filter (phase shifter), like they use on FM radio. It makes everything sound magically great.
I don't like the modernize in Minehead .they should of left it alone it's not the same anymore.Dont like the apartments with all them metal stairs you have to clime .l loved the old Butlins and Billy Butlin owned it .
Emily Westwood better than been stuck in one of those all-inclusive hell holes in Egypt or Tunisia where the food is unsafe, the country is unsafe. Innocent Holiday makers are gunned down on the beach by terrorists. Only last summer a couple both died in their hotel bedroom on holiday in Hugada Egypt from suspected food poisoning. Give me Butlins any day at least if things go wrong you can always jump in your car or train and come home. In places like North Africa you are stuck! At least we have food hygiene laws here.

Have just spent a weekend at Butlins Minehead and it’s interesting to see that the chalets now are exactly the same as they were then 40 years on.

Sunsplash has been disused since 1998 but it's still in top nick enough to re-open some time in the potential future.
It's so strange that now the Sunsplash is closed. It's just extremely odd.
Maybe it's part of history or they could bring it back!
@@katiebayliss_x9482 I heard that some people have re-chlorinated the pool and have also cleaned it out, so maybe they might be bringing it back.
