I remember my first trip to skeggy in 1988 i was five. and yes captain blood went in the outdoor pool. me an my brother cried when we went home. at the end of the month i'll be off to my fifth adult only weekend..... thanks for uploading this it reminds me of my childhood! x
This was from the old Holiday series that used to be on BBC1; it ran from 1969 to 2007 as far as I know too. We used to see it at the time, although we felt later on it had become too sort of odd compared too before. Thank you though too!
It's so nice to recognise A LOT of the Redcoats in this video and it brings back A LOT of happy memories for me...=)...I also worked at Skegness as a Butlins Redcoat in 1990..=)...I was known as "Redcoat Alex" and was a blonde back then and I was the only first year GD Redcoat to have my own solo singing in the beautiful Gaiety Theater in the "Redcoat Show"...=)....Such happy memories that I will NEVER forget!!....Thank-you for uploading this video.....=D =D

I know exactly what you are saying!!....When I worked there as a Redcoat in 1990 I was blonde and wore big glasses from time to time when not wearing my contacts, and kinda resembled "Sue Pollard" from the "Hi De Hi" TV Show...I was told by my Boss that if I dared to even think about shouting Hi De Ho back to someone while I was in Uniform, I would be sacked on the spot!!
so that means that all the modernisation costs is actually being passed onto the guests as Frank Bough said the price was per chalet unlike today when the prices are per person so the guests are actually paying for the new upgrades not butlins themselves and some of the upgrades is unfair as Skegness as had less work done on it compared to the other 2 and especially in the hotel line as they have put 3 hotels on the Bognor Regis site and none on Skegness and one on minehead it maybe 2 on minehead I don't remember but where is the hotels for the Skegness site and also lake view accommodation on minehead and nothing as glamorous as that for Skegness and Skegness is the mother camp as far as I'm concerned Skegness is being left behind and I would not be surprised that the reason for this it will be the next Butlins camp to go leaving the north of England with virtually no where to go on holiday unlike the south why should the south get all the best UNFAIR
These are the good old days when I used to enjoy Butlins specially the adult weekends now since Brunei leisure have got their hands on it eventually have to pay for everything there is no fun then no more no food outlets just robbed Robin chippies on Burger King that destroyed it

I have been going to butlins Pwllheli since 1973. Since Haven got hold of it there is nothing left....it's crap. Shame on you Haven!!!!!
