I was the same age as those kids at the time. Strike it lucky was easily my fave game show too. Michael Barrymore was one of the greatest entertainers to ever grace the screens. Had a smile on my face throughout this episode.

I loved this, Michael Barrymore is a very funny man. My life back then was very difficult and shows like this (and Two Ronnies, Morecambe and Wise, Generation Game etc) were like a lifeline for me. If it wasn’t for them I don’t think I would have made it.

We got to decide wether we wanted to keep the prizes on the tvs or gtake money think it was like £1500 & back then that was a lot of money. Nah. I always wondered this, but watching it back so many years later, it was a dummy, hence the black curtain that was dropped down when the monitor was removed. I'd have expected the real screens to look more like one of those boxy industrial monitors you used to find around TV studios
I think the Jackpot Round would be more fun if they kept going like they did here & they just drop the potential jackpot down 1 level for Every Hot-Spot after they had 2 Hot-Spots and when they've had 5 Hot-Spots its GAME OVER, I think that would be more fun

I served him a few year ago in a bar i worked in, he is doing well an enjoying life now.
One of the publicist that were forwarding stories to the media was Max Clifford who happened to be very good friends with Barrymore's ex wife.
