it depends on how well you do your research!! BU doesn't directly give any picture of what your dorm might look like but there's sites like ratemydorm and also UA-cam to help you get a good gist of what your dorm would look like.
When I studied in the UK I didn’t get to see my room before I moved in. But I got my place through cleaning so it was last minute and I had to take what I got. Some of the others living in my apartment definitely picked it and probably had a tour of campus before hand.

i'm on fenway campus! would def recommend dorming at either warren or west your first year :)

sometimes the college provides a floor plan or a virtual tour but you dont usually see it before
