- Live performance on the BBC music programme 'In Concert', broadcast 16 October 1970 and guesting John Sebastian, formerly the founder and leader of 'The Lovin Spoonful'.
'Daydream' was written by Sebastian in 1966 and was performed by The Lovin Spoonful, reaching No.2 on the UK charts.
'In Concert' ran throughout the 1970s and this was actually only the second episode, having premiered the week before with Joni Mitchell as the guest.

I've always loved this song John Sebastian is such a happy cheerful person.
I've been listening to his music since I was a kid. Always joyful to hear him. He's written some great songs.
I love this song on my IPOD in my kitchen for when I'm cooking and cleaning up while checking out the natural world through my window and breathing in the scents of the season.
The positive feeling of this song can be life saving.

Was driving home today somehow this song pops in mind, I can hear whistling in my ear. When I got home clicked on UA-cam and ahhhhhhhh.......I'm back to the past.
Remember John at the Canned Heat in Hyde Park, London, concert on 12th September 1970. After an extremely rainy morning, he sang "Here Comes The Sun" when the sun came out & the rest was just wonderful with The Bear (Bob Hite) jumping on the stage that was flexing with his moves. One of the best concerts I have ever seen and a wonderful memory that will live with me until the end of my life which is not so far away given that I am now 70.

He was the lead singer for The Lovin Spoonful. He also had a big hit on his own with the theme from Welcome Back Kotter.
This is someone who just oozes musicality...so simple and yet so hard to do convincingly. And for the few imitators who might say they can do an amazing cover (and yes I do envy you), let’s not forget he invented the song and the performance....and a few others. Thanks for posting this video by the way.

No. John Sebastian had this look and John Lennon copied him. Do some research. I was around and I remember it well. The Doors came even later.

@@JimAndDeePatton I know he had this style since 1965 or earlier, and Lennon started appearing with the round glasses in late '66. I don't think that's a case of one copying another. It's just the style of those days, aswell as the hair, the glasses or the beard. These looks and John Lennon's is just a coincidence, altought I and our fellow friends could say they're similar.

Played harmonica for Doors Roadhouse Blues. Was a friend of Mirrisons. Cass Elliot. Those had to be some great conversations. Morrison was usally well behaved in most settings. His love of our irish curses was done off the beaten path.

Every lyric site has some nonsense about 'dropping my load' and 'a pie in my face for being a sleepy bull toad'.
It doesn't sound like that and also seems very stupid nonsensical words and out of place with the rest of the song.
I hear 'sleepy old Joe' but the rest is unclear.
They all had impeccable clapping rhythm... until the end, what in the world possessed them!?
