LOL This is still going? That's my Sunfire, it's a simple all-motor build, swapped to a different bottom end, so its a 2.4L instead of a 2.2L, Ported head, cams, bolt-ons and a tune.
Makes 193whp. Best run was 13.3 @ 99.

If you're one of those people saying the sun fire has more mods.. Thats because they were cheap to do in the J-body. xD That sun fire is faster and probably took 50,000 dollars less to make. hahah
Clayton Bridges it is way under 50k to do mods on sun fires, if u buy body kits and other exterior mods, it's only about 5000 dollars to really trick out a Pontiac Sunfire. Buying 03 Sunfire in good shape is only around 5 to 8k if even less
Its not even faster...It trapped 99 the vette trapped 112. Thats wayyy faster.
the corvette also didnt really launch like the sunfire so it took longer to get up to speed if the corvette knew how to launch it would have been closer, still impressive though
Sure, I'll give you that. I love the Sunfire. I'm about to buy one myself. But let's not kid ourselves, the Corvette is obviously a much nicer car and can still make far more power than any Sunfire. But let's be honest here, if you're a speed junky and that's the only aspect you care about and you're on a budget, clearly there are plenty cheap cars out there that you can make fast.my main point is, don't be THAT guy who thinks that because his car is fast enough to hang with super cars that he's got the best thing on 4 wheels. Don't be a delusional fuck bag. It's toxic to the car community. Speed isn't the only desirability factor of a car.

I once overtook a modified original RX7 whose driver hit my rear bumper at a traffic stop and left the scene once I got out of my car. So I got back into the stock Sunfire '95 2.2L automatic and chased the RX7, overtook it and forced it to stop. the owner was MAD, LOL!

For years we kept hearing how imports are better vehicles to MOD more reliable, it’s good to see that we have American domestic vehicles being modded and tested at the track and doing well. At the mansion, I always thought. Some of our cars were better look in that Sunfire looks better than an Integra.
Has the exhaust note of a riced out car, but is fast. At Least it's fast and not riced out.

The sunfire is built pretty good but he had a better launch. look at the reaction times. the vette was catching up. But still a win is a win good job sunfire

I recently restored my 1995 Sunfire (2.2L, 3 spd automatic). It is so sweet seeing it rolling again. I had the transmission rebuilt, new cooling system, transmission oil cooler added, fixed the A/C, replaced the struts, brakes, added rear camera. Next is the stereo system.

I'm just thinking of the approximate times that I usually see with C6 Vettes. I don't always know which engine. Are the C6's you are talking about beating you off the line as well? Vettes usually do better from a roll. These smaller cars can jump out of the hole really quick

You are completely wrong, everywhere in canada runs a proper 1/4 mile with trap speeds shown in MPH and not KPH

@XXstephsvids84XX it is a custom long tube header, stepped primaries with a 3 inch collector. From there I have about 19" of straight 3" pipe and then a turn down. Bascially its open header with a collector extension, controlled via a electric cut-out, it would be far far to loud to street drive it sounding like that.

It's maybe 100lbs lighter than a bone stock one. My 60foots are 1.7's...that helps a lot to bring the ET's down.

sunfires in the snow would kick the shit out of any corvette every single day. Trust me I race my buddy in his vette to work every day in yellowknife. I beat him every single time mostly cause he loses traction. I get enough time to sit down and have a coffee by the time he shows up. Although I plan to change the car to Rear wheel drive with an ls3 motor this summer. so I guess we'll be even then. and I only had to pay a third of the cost of the corvette to have some fun. LOL

running a 13.20 in a vette is piss poor driving, whether it was a base model or not. Until mods for both cars are shown, why argue it? That sunfire could easily have 10k into the motor alone anyways.
ET DOES NOT determine who wins. 2 cars can be lined up and one goes on green and clips off a 13.0 ET, the other can sit there for 5 days then go and clips off a 12.9. Who won? The time doesn't start until the cars tires breaks the timing light, this is what's known as RT or reaction time. Notice the sunfire had a 2.04 sec faster RT?

vettes arent made for launches, they are more made for accelaration and speed... if this track was longer, then maybe the vette might win depending on how long the sunfire can maintain its speed..
dont know if you have seen real drags but 15 and under is pretty damn quick.. for a QUARTER mile drag//// that is about a stoplight and a quarter... why dont you try your honda civic and do that

That was a j type 2005 ssi. It's great at straight away, but sucks turning. The E type were the slightly older and more maneuverable unibody design, and were lighter. I believe that 99-2004 were made with mostly E type. The corvette is obviously an S3, but with some mods. It's a mismatch of epic proportion, and it's even more epic that the Sunfire won... considering that the corvette is built around racing even as a stock profile.
You can tell that it's J type, because when he burned out, the tires actually lost traction. E types don't lose traction, even in a burnout. Mine will hardly chirp at me, and I have to be pulling a 90° turn at full overdrive to get that result.
Sunfire's quick but I can guarantee the corvette would outperform the sunfire in any other scenario.

2.2l turbo sunfire can go 8 seconds going 0-60.
also shelby's cost over 10,000% more than what a sunfire *since you wanna keep going with that* so adding 500$ to a 40 grand car is worthless.
adding 300$ to a 4grand car is a hell of a lot better AND goes faster than your "shelby dodge" with your 500$ add on. go look at the specs

-2 points huh? well didnt know i was still in high school. but let me tell you something, there are only a few good things about american cars.. expensive to buy, expensive to fill up, and even if they keep adding another liter to the engine its still going to have 15 mpg on street and 20 on highway.
if you actually learned something from high school shop class, no american car is good. its the 2.2L engines that have turbo's or chargers on it that go 0-60 in 10 seconds or less depending

smashingstuff09 Yes... I'm blind. That's how I clearly saw the Corvette walk the Cavalier, and cross the 1/4 mile mark first. In fact, I'm so blind, that at 36 seconds exactly I saw the light come on, on the Corvette's side, and I saw their times. Corvette ran a 13.20 @ 112.18mph. Cavalier ran a 13.43 @ 99.28mph. Then again... maybe I'm not the blind one here...
Yeah......but this car is a sunfire lol and it says sunfire in the title. Saying the vette walked this car and just barely beat it is like saying a walked a prius with my GTR. Its a embarrassing race and for it to be close is laughable.
