    I just read the book deep, by James nestor... it talks all about Aquarius, Everybody! Aquarius is still functioning under the international university of Florida, it was negotiated and is functioning as from September 2013, if you don't believe me look it up. Please leave a like for this useful information (this video is outdated)

    This is a breathtakingly beautiful production Yasemin. Thank you so much. Your love of our creation is like a breath of fresh air, life giving! My heart is troubled however, at the idea that this structure would be disassembled after being there so long as to allow so many life forms to call it home. It would be a crime to take it away now. Do I understand that the underwater center may well be staying put? Please tell me it is so. I will Google for info on it now too.

    How much can you stay under water without air?

    • @theamazingdives
      @theamazingdives  10 років тому +9

      A bit over 6 minutes if I don't move. But the more i move the more oxygen I consume and less it becomes. Usually my dives are about 2:30 - 3 minutes.

  • @TheZacdes
    @TheZacdes 11 років тому

    Yes, with no weight to equalize bouyancy, you have to work harder to stay down...in relatively shallow water! Go deep enough and as air is squeezed and compressed, you sink quite fast!! Same with tanks!!

  • @yasemindalkilic
    @yasemindalkilic 11 років тому

    From the surface. When you are diving having taken the breath on the surface, you don't get the bends (except some extreme depth time scenarios). Bends is a much bigger risk when you breathe compressed air.

  • @markbarton6689
    @markbarton6689 11 років тому

    Awesome video! But i should make a slight correction. When this video was made the fate of the Aquarius had been decided. But thanks to other marine life enthusiasts and researchers who decided this magnificent piece of equipment could not be decommissioned, it is still in use! Dr. Jim Fourqurean of Florida International University has bought the Aquarius and taken it under his wing. It will stay in use for the foreseeable future!

    i do free diving too .... to hold ur breath longer u have to train ... such as breathing in with ur mouth for 10 sec and breath out for 5 sec with nose .. keep doing that and try to breath in to ur stomach , u have to breath in lots of oxygen as much as u can

    As of Jan. 20, 2013, an article reads: "Thanks to the backlash from scientists and a campaign led by South Florida political leaders...will allow FIU to continue monitoring and maintaining Aquarius Reef Base for NOAA in 2013. During this time, they will create a new business model to better fund Aquarius in the future. The new model will rely on other government agencies, as well as private groups and universities, explained Jim Fourqurean who will be overseeing activities at Aquarius Reef Base"
