I think the point he was trying to make here was that Judas didn’t go to hell for betraying Jesus, but rather went to hell because of how he handled the situation which is not repenting but killing himself. Instead. Unlike Peter who got saved by asking for forgiveness, Judas did not ask for forgiveness but he killed himself. So the reason he is most likely going to hell is because he did not go back to his lord and savior Jesus. He totally rejected Jesus and killed himself. He did not repent!

You’ve got it right. He repented and yet still went to hell. He never even believed in Christ for Christ said for he knew from the beginning who should betray him and Jesus said for there are some of you That believe not.
Judas was chosen to fullfill a role to show what an evil heart does to God Himself. Judas never was on-board with Jesus's message with his evil heart. Plus he was the groups money handler and liked to "dip into the till". Money and material gain was Judas priority. Betraying the Son of God was an unforgivable sin.
I always imagined he probably felt so guilty realizing what he had done and who he had done it to, that he probably felt unworthy of asking god for mercy. The devil blinded him to the truth when it was in front of his eyes all along. And then the devil blinded him to salvation after the atrocity had been committed…. It’s a very important message for us all to absorb because we all betray gods will at times when we sin. And I’m sure a lot of us have felt unworthy of forgiveness at times for the terrible acts we committed. It’s a lesson on the importance of repentance.
Judas didn’t personally ask for forgiveness he just felt guilty.. you have to acknowledge the sin you committed by asking for forgiveness. Feeling empathy is not the same as acknowledgment. You can easily commit the most heinous act and be empathetic or sympathetic
@margaretbush we can't compare ourselves to people who were being used in the fulfillment of prophecy.... one verse comes to mind , awake o my sword smite the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered... and the famous words of Jesus forgive them father they know not what they do...
The only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy of the holy spirit. This is referenced in Matthew 12:31-32. Whether Judas is in heaven or not is irrelevant and we will just have to wait and see . I often say that we will be surprised one day who is in heaven and who is in hell.
Judas committed suicide. That seals his fate. You cannot ask forgiveness for the completion of a sin if you are not alive to be forgiven. Forgiveness is for the living only.

Judas went to hell but his soul was not left there. When Jesus went into the grave and took keys of Hell and Death from Satan(Rev 1) he led the captives out of captivity(Hell) (Ephesians 4). Not everyone went to heaven from this point. Some people chose not to repent and not go with Jesus like Jezabel(Rev 2). Judas was brought out of hell by Jesus because Jesus(God) cannot lie. Judas was chosen by Jesus and his betray was prophecy(John 13). Judas was prophesied over by Jesus and was told that he will judge the 12 tribes with the disciples(Matt 19) and Jesus told His disciples that all that the Father has given Him, He has lost none(John 19). Judas ate commuion with the Lord which gave him a part in the Lord(John 6, Luke 22, Rev 3).

@@Baltic_Hammer6162 so he didn't go to hell?
I always imagined he probably felt so guilty realizing what he had done and who he had done it to, that he probably felt unworthy of asking god for mercy. The devil blinded him to the truth when it was in front of his eyes all along. And then the devil blinded him to salvation after the atrocity had been committed…. It’s a very important message for us all to absorb because we all betray gods will at times when we sin.
