I would barely choose the R2 currently, but due to it being as a concept and we don’t actually know how good it will be, it is somewhat skeptical. However, their R1T and R1S are great and might push over to this car. There will be more contest however by the time the Model Y Juniper releases
I agree. By 2026 the Model Y will be well into its updated phase. However, R2 should do well considering most parts are somewhat shared with R1S. Should make bringing it to market a whole lot easier.
I prefer on the passenger side: curbside charging (which will be necessary for broad adoption), and in tight stalls I can park the car closer to the charger side and still get out of the vehicle easily.

Most of the tech in the interior will actually be identical between trims because it's cheaper to make essentially the same passenger cabin and mate it to different drivetrains (the most expensive parts of the car). Also software add-ons are even more profitable
The scroll wheels have tactile feedback that adjusts based on what you have selected. No one has gone over exactly what you can select with them, but to give a basic example, if you are scrolling volume, you'll get a bunch of tiny light "clicks" and if you are scrolling climate controls it will adjust the springs in the clicker to make each click feel harder and less frequent. I can't remember which channel had that demonstration on it, but it basically made me not worry about the screens at all since it seems the things you actually want to adjust like that will be done through the scroll wheels on the steering wheel.
Love it - actually has soul and character. If I wanted a stale, clean room made in car form I would go Tesla. Rivian is a cool company doing new and unique things.

The one thing I dont really like about Rivian (and most electric car manufacturers) is the fact that if you’re in even a small collision, the insurance can easily total your car. And if I pay 50-70 grand for a car, I kinda want it to live past one crash
