  • These tanks are bigger than they look. Let me show you how that works and why I've fallen in love with combined water systems.

    How are those usb air pumps working so far? Have they needed replacing?

      They work well when new but in my experience do wear out quickly, unfortunately. I think they've made some revisions to how they are manufactured in the last year or two.

    Very cool system I like your design! How long have you had that set up for? I’m curious to see your new be on a larger scale!

      The one on the left has been running for about 6 months the one on the right is only a few weeks old. I'm excited too! It's 120 gallons of plant filtered goodness

    Lowell who sells that substrate and why not gravel?

    • @MakeMoreFish
      @MakeMoreFish  2 роки тому +1

      It's an ADA sand and it's very expensive. I only use it because I can buy it with store credit and I like the color. As for why, I haven't come across a dwarf cichlid yet that doesn't enjoy sand sifting. It's good for them. Digging pits or otherwise moving around substrate is also part of their breeding behavior and it's easier with sand than gravel. It isn't mandatory and using gravel is by no means wrong, sand is just something I think they enjoy.

      @MakeMoreFish  Рік тому +1

      I think about 200 gph but I use valves to throttle it down

    can you please suggest me any good background plant for my GBR tank

    • @MakeMoreFish

      I know a few plants that grow comfortably at the temperatures that rams like. Bacopa, pogostemon Stellatus octopus, crinum callimistratum, and Amazon sword. Those are ones I've tried personally. Java Fern I hear does well too. Any of those would work

      @@MakeMoreFish thanks and my female GBR has laid eggs and male is not fertilizing it what can be the reason

    • @MakeMoreFish
      @MakeMoreFish  3 роки тому

      @@cal673 that's a little odd but sometimes it takes a few tries for fish to learn how to spawn properly. Did you watch the whole spawn? Fertilization happens right after the eggs are laid. The next morning he wouldn't be doing anything that looks like fertilizing. He would just be hanging out above or near the eggs. There's also a chance your boy is actually a girl. That's all I can think of

      @MakeMoreFish  3 роки тому

      @@cal673 that's too bad. not uncommon though. Let them try again a few times and see if they can get the hang of it.

    What are the sizes of the fish tanks?

    • @MakeMoreFish
      @MakeMoreFish  3 роки тому +1

      They are 10 gallons each except for one of the upper tanks which is a 15. I had it lying around and it fit the space.
