This game changed my entire life. According to my records from when I was a child, I was diagnosed with possible autism, which caused my parents a lot of worry. They did everything they could, like providing me with comics, toys, and anything else that could serve as early intervention. I couldn’t even read until I was 10 years old. Then one day, my parents bought me this game. For some reason, I became addicted to it and asked my maid to help me read all the NPC dialogue. My maid would translate the words for me one by one (I’m not from an English-speaking country). One day, my mom came home and got angry because I was stuck in this game (since I had been playing from around 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.). She wanted to throw my PS1 away until my maid told my parents that I could read. They were so shocked, and from then on, my parents bought me all kinds of games related to this style, like The Legend of Dragoon and Final Fantasy. Now, I have a master’s degree in social studies. To be honest, this game isn’t just about "attack and defend"; it involves many puzzles, which actually improved the way I think. Best game ever.
You hear a specific song and remember everything. The place, activity, the overall theme, the boss, the casual fights, the dialogues, the plot twists and the story in general. Heck, even the tear emotes. This game was far ahead of it's time. I picked it by pure luck in a store, had not much money on me back then and was mesmerized by the cover.
This year I dug up my old copy of Breath of Fire 3 and was wowed once again by the breathtaking sounds of the OST...Breath of Fire was always leagues ahead of its time in my honest opinion. Thank you so much for this trip into my childhood ❤
This game is the ultimate nostalgia for me. My first ever RPG, and one of the few games I ordered a new copy of online(after PS1 stopped selling in big stores, but before EBay and emulation were big things) when my old one stopped working. I’ve played through so many times, even played through a modded version to up the difficulty and rebalance things, and it never gets old! The soundtrack to go along with it it is just so damn good too!!
god this music takes me back. I remember just being 11 years old and thought the sprites in this game were phenomenal and that the jazz centric music was something I had never heard and actually got me into jazz as a whole. Thanks BoF 3.
It's wonderful. The composer fought the devs to include this style of music even though it departed so heavily from a traditional jrpg sound track, and it ended up being iconic. I love this OST so much.
I honestly wonder why two such great games as BoF 3 and 4 were not a sales success. The plot may have been too serious for those times (especially 4), which we would appreciate more as older players (I'm 38 now, but I was around 17 when I played). Nevertheless, almost everything was perfect there. Even today, both games don't look bad, they have great graphics, stories, and characters.
I played Bof3 abd Bof4 but never legend of mana is it any good. Is there a possible remake and if so would you know what console it would be on thanks.
@@jaketaylor5376 there's no hope for BoF series unfortunately However, Legend of Mana just got an anime like a few months ago So probably it still has hope
I was looking for more extended versions of the music, and checked if this video had them. Going by these times; i don't think these are extended versions. 0:00 2:06 4:22
They will just ruin it if they do. It should be ported to the new systems exactly as it was originally, no easy mode added, no soundtrack remake, no graphic replacements, and no charging 60 bucks for a game that came out almost 30 years ago.

Jesus Christ. Didn't expect tears in this comment section. Hope more people see this.
Cool. Glad it had that effect on you. I probably wouldn't have read nearly as much without playing rpgs.
Good luck 😉
If that's what you're looking for: the first overworld theme, Casually, starts at 0:04:23
The second, To a Distant Place, starts at 2:19:09

in nearly 25 years there hasn't been another OST that has come anywhere close to this one.
Great times fourteen high off my ass playing this over the summer. I miss those days
Breath of fire 3s soundtrack was influenced by japanese city pop for sure. Miss these kind of bgm in games…
And smooth jazz.
This game had emotional effects on me I didn't know a game could have back then. To this day, whenever I play it, it just does something to me.....

This is the game that caused me to buy a Playstation 1.
This is the game my mom got for me alongside my PS1 way back when. Not even a teenager and getting introduced to a true masterpiece
Bof3, Bof4 and Legend of Mana were my fave game. Oh the golden age of jRPGs.
