My father's funeral was done in Jan 2024. All my 4 siblings didnt fold silver joss papers. They just sat there entertain themselves. They even didnt burn the joss papers. I as a Christian got to do since no one doing for papa. My papa is not a believer. But I am sure to do all these is better dun do even I cant understand the reason to do these. One of my sis said I did all these is for 给人家看的 because she didnt believe all this crap. 😢 I am glad after this video, I felt my papa benefitted from what I had done. Thank you so much.
Jesus knows your heart ... long ago when my grandparents grave in KL needed to be exhumed to clear land , me and my dad went over from Singapore ... my yi bak , sei sok , gu gu , no one dared to take their father's skull . i alone climbed down to the grave to handle my yeye's skull, i was supposed to hand over to the eldest son who is my yi bak la, but he dont dare to take , so end up i as the grand son had to handle it from grave to cremation and finally to the columbarium.... oh i am a christian by the way
i watched CNA's Dead Alone series, and it did feature their services in managing and collaborating with other organisation in completing proper funeral services out of respect for the decease journey
To be honest, children should show filial piety when their parents are alive, aging and sick. Spending quality time with lonely parents even after married and living out is crucial. What is the point of doing all these grand funeral when the parents are no longer around. By doing so, you will feel less guilty as their children? Examine our heart, reflect upon how our parents raise us and do what is right from the beginning by loving them unconditionally is more important. A lot of things are very surface. As children, we will go tru our parents passing with grace, honor and dignity is good enough. Just my sharing.

Quite interesting - I am a Frenchman with catholic background but we have no problem holding joss sticks. In fact, many of us here in France (and perhaps other European countries) would find it rather rude and offensive to refuse holding them at a funeral.
