Just started in the biz too. It’s definitely scary when loans take 14-30 days to pay and you don’t know anyone yet. My goal is to be on this show one day! See you soon! 😊
Awesome interview! I am newly licensed and am a broker who frequents office every Monday. I was a little discouraged when the secret sauce was daily office work but we will see. Thanks for sharing.
I work from home. I’ve never had to go to the office. I’m closing 7 to 8 loans a month in 2023 and I’m a rookie. Going to the office is not related to your success. Networking with realtors is your key to success
Than you so much! I am currently working at home but she makes me realize the only way to be successful going to office and I think I will do that. Because right now I don’t see great results working at home.
The being in an office point hit me like a "Duhhh". I struggled for the first 6 months, trying to start out at home. I joined a new company 3 months ago and the broker asked me to come into the office about six weeks ago and it's taken off since then. I did nothing but flounder at home, and in the past 6 weeks I've closed one and have 2 in UW and a few more in the pipe. What she said about just learning by hearing is huge! It didn't even occur to me that THAT was the key. I've already shared this podcast with friends from my old company who are still struggling at home- get into an office and watch the change!

Great episode. Leaving nursing after years and intend to make a good living doing this. Been watching most of these videos. Took the class, test coming up.
My favorite episode thus far. Kayla is transparent and such a wonderful role model for women in the Mortgage Industry and businesswomen in general. Loved all her advice. Thank you so much for this particular episode.
This is an EXCELLENT conversation. I’m relatively new in the business and pretty much beat for beat, this is what my boss told me to do lol. Exactly what u guys are talking about. Networking, Networking, Networking. In the office EVERYDAY because being in the environment constantly promotes learning and understanding. Open Houses EVERY weekend and thru out the week going to events to connect with others. Remember that realtors want to close deals just as much as you do, so helping them, helps you.
This interview was so inspiring. I am brand new to the industry and this really was very relatable and motivating. I wish the host was a little more experienced with interviewing women, there were quite a few moments I felt like I could have gained more of her knowledge, which is the goal of a podcast, if he was more gender respectful. There is a pretty noticeable amount of "mansplaining" her own answers as if we didn't already understand what she was saying. Didn't like how he spent time talking about her being a former cheerleader, completely not important when discussing her professionalism, almost exactly what a man would focus on though when introducing a woman who is dominating in the mortgage industry. Lets get better at this guys, love Ya'll.
Save this for your diary next time, he gave her a platform and hyped her in the first minute, go look at his interview with the former baseball player, he spent 5 minutes talking about his past, it’s called getting to know someone, learn about it and you might get better at networking with people in this business and get close to either of their levels.
Im newly licensed; Completely new industry; looking at brokers; All you share is helpful; Ready to have an impact; about to jump, ready to fly. Thank you.
$20M first year? I wish I was a hot NFL cheerleader turned MLO lol, tbh hearing loan talk and scripts is nice but it's getting the referral partners is the difficult part.
Yes she’s attractive, but you don’t “good look” your way to being a top producer. To suggest otherwise downplays her skill and undoubtedly the work she’s put in to get there.
lo from boston area clears over 1 billion and hes not a cheerleader, looks like a dad in home depot, another lo in cali loan factory, clears over a billion in mortgages, vietnamese skinny guy, they are both not magazine attractive
Great job, Kayla!! Love seeing women killing it in this industry. Would love to know how you divide you time for such a great work-life balance with all those pre-quals!
What if you don’t have an office nearby at the moment and you love the company so far. I wish their was a way I could shadow someone on mute by zoom or just a call. What would you suggest for someone who is remote?
Very cool interview. I'm a newly licensed MLO in Miami Florida. What is the best mortgage company to work for with the best training, support and highest BPS?
$40 million worth of home loans closed per year. Commissions will depend on the MLO's comp structure, but the avg. MLO will earn around 1% (or 100 bps) of the home loan amount.
I just got my license and I work at out of state company I feel like I need to be in an office. I dont even know if I only one at the company in ohio. I really wanna be able to learn from people in person. Anyone from ohio?

Kayla mentioned going to events she found on FB… my question, what type events is she attending? I just looked and all of these events are co-hosted with other lenders. Would it be disrespectful to show up to these co-hosted events, knowing you’re there to network their people?
Hey Cindy - Kayla attends a variety of events - from charity events to industry functions. It would not be disrespectful at all to show up to events co-hosted with other lenders. 👍
Bro you talk WAY TOO MUCH, it feels like listening to an overbearing sports comentator who only shuts up for a few seconds for the other person to barely chime in. Let your guests lead the conversation more!
